6:45 am
should take that down because i think that there are things that different people get wrong. either -- i don't think they're intentionally getting it wrong. >> i think in the case of the holocaust deniers, they might be. >> zuckerberg later apologized in an e-mail saying he didn't mean to defend the intent of holocaust deniers. >> with so much concern about secure elections, this could not come at a better time for california. mms of federal dollars to improve security. the state received nearly $35 million from the federal government, about one third of it is now going towards beefing up computer security. and $20 million is being spent on protecting centers that allow voters to cast their ballots in the days before an election. now, the state is also allocating its own money, $134 million. this to improve election security and upgrade old voting machines. >> well, the president has surprised us once again. >> scott mcgrew, president trump
6:46 am
now says he did confront vladimir putin over election interference. >> this is a bombshell claim from the president who on monday, you remember, stood next to putin and never mentioned any confrontation. you'll recall over the last few days, the president has been fighting off criticism he was too deferential to putin, saying serve times during this press conference that putin had denied interfering in our elections and never once mentioning that he, trump, had confronted putin in private during that unmonitored meeting. nor did the president mention it during his explanation of that whole would/wouldn't controversy. it wasn't until last night president trump said absolutely, i stood up to putin. he said it on the cbs evening news. >> you hold him personally responsible? >> well, i would because he's in charge of the country, just like i consider myself to be responsible for things that happen in this country. so certainly, as the leader of a country, you would have to hold him responsible, yes.
6:47 am

6:48 am
the president wasn't pleased with me either. can walk through that in the book, look, there are days where i stepped in it. would i take a do-over? absolutely. i use this book to walk through and to explain to people, it's not as easy. it's one thing to look at a one dimensional guy standing at a podium and say i can't believe you said this. part of what i wanted to do by writing this book is explain what was going on behind the scenes. >> sean spicer, clearly on book toor, will be on the "today" show. that comes up at 7:00, and a reminder, we're watching what happens in washington and pretty much live blogging it on twitter. you can follow me. i'm@scottmcgrew. >> love this story. talk about going above and beundyond. some employees at a alabama supermarket helped a girl find her beloved stuffed bunny after she left it at the store. she left the bunny in a shopping cart. when her mom went in to get it, it was nowhere to be found. >> bunny wasn't found. i called my mom. and i was crying.
