we begin with developing news out of missouri this morning.. this duck boat capsized on a lake. (11 people are dead-- soe of them children.

at least five people are still missing. seven people are recovering in the hospital ,one of them seriously hurt. 31 people were on board. all this haedthe sheriff says s may have caused the boat to take on water. divers spent hours searching the lake for survivors-- but called it off late last night. dive teams will resume the search for victims this morning. now to new questions about president trump )s relationship with russian president vladimir putin. he )s now inviting him to washington during the fall election. it )s an announcement that caught u-s intelligence agencies off guard. today in the bay )s ian cull spoke with a russia exp

disturbing allegations against a peninsula badminton coach santa clara county deputies say "khankham malaythong" had an inappropriate relationship with one of his students. the 37-year-old coach works at "synergy badminton" in menlo park. last week-- deputies say they caught him with the 17- year-old girl . the two were reportedly parked in a san jose park-- after hours.. they didn )t tell us if anything happened at the park.. but he is now facing several charges including sexual assault. deputies don )t believe there ae any other victims. authorities in the north bay say these 3 men are behind a dispute over marijuana that ended in murder. all 3 are now in custody .. in connection with the death of a man whose body was found

wednesday in cloverdale. sonoma county deputies say relatives of the victim reported him missing in late june. investigators then pieced together the dispute - which they say revolved around a large amount of pot. a life and death situation so many people in santa rosa faced, is now the subject of a documentary that premiered last night. it )s called "urban inferno- the night santa rosa burned" a sold-out crowd of fire ivors,heir supporters, and first responders watched it. the documentary details the first few hours of the fire. it offered insight into how emergency personal responded while people ran for their lives. for many-- it was an emotional recap of one of their worst nights. other survivors who saw the documentary for the first time say it helps put things in perspective.

you can say goodbye to "crissy field avenue" starting today it )ll permanenty close. the street connects crissy field to lincoln boulevard. the presidio trust announced they are going to turn it into a trail for walkers, hikers and cyclists. the closure takes effect starting today. drivers will still be able to access lincoln from crissy field by using mcdowell avenue. you )ve probably seen trashed streets in your neighborhood. )s bkland -- it problem. now the city and the community are coming together to address the issue. this weekend will be the first of several neighborhood clean ups in the city. tomorrow )s event starts at 8-30 and goes until 11-30. and if you can )t make that time-- there )s going to be two more clean ups. one on august 18th and one on september 29th. coming up on today in the bay... more drug makers pledging not to increase the cost of widely used medication here plus-- the next time you take an uber -- you might get a box full of gifts.

another deadline looms for the justice department - to reunite families separated at the u-s mexico border. a july 26th deadline requires all children be back with their families. the previous deadline covered children 5 and under. out of more than 25-hundred children separated from their families .. so far .. the white house says just 364 have been reunited. a developing story now.. horrible cases of neglect and abuse has san francisco animal control officers -- asking for help. we must warn you, the images are disturbing to see.

dehydrated mastiff was found monday morning at a dog park near 25th and iowa streets. he had no chip or collar, and weighed just 60 pounds. animal care workers are trying to find out who is responsible for the dogs neglect. they have seen a spike in animal cruelty cases and are concerned there could be more animals suffering. an unsettling surprise for a san jose couple. a snake -- slithering on their living room floor they )re not the only ones who e spotted a snake in the house. san jose animal care and services says since january... they )ve had four calls about snakes inside homes.

they can get into a house through a quarter-size hole. the slippery reptiles are usually looking for food and water. animal services says never try to handle a snake yourself. if you spot one in your home -- give them a call right away. good news -- if you have college students in your family. for the first time in almost two decades... students at 10 u-c campuses will see a drop in tuition. u-c regents unanimously approved the decrease this week it )s not a big change -- only 0 dollars less a year. students have protested tuition hikes for years. not all of them will get a break though. back in march - regents approved an almost 4 percent tuition hike for international and out of state students. coming up on today in the bay nbc bay area responds...

f.. a developing story -- homes flattened and people injured after tornadoes rip through several communities right outside of des moines, iowa people rushing to safety also caught the storms on camera. officials declared a state of emergency. and a south korean court has sentenced former president park geun-hye to an additional (8 years. she now faces more than three decades behind bars. she was removed from office and jailed for abusing state funds and violating election laws. more new after the break.

east bay family whose life savings disappe nbc bay area responds to a family whose life saving disappeared bliel trying to find their firstomnly ones. we have more on the local people being roped into a scale.ho buygrocess it tricks home buyers into wiring money to the wrong bank account. that's what they fell for last month. they are now out $89,000. they have said the hardest part was telling their kids who are initially afraid but also inquisitive. >> how did this happen? we couldn't answer that. >> they discovered this scam is devastating many home buy rs.
