>> we will have your traffic in just a moment. first we want to start out with what we can expect. it will be a humid day today. >> yeah. i think a big hair day and also one where you're just going to break out in a sweat a lot easier. let's get a look right now. you can't even see the bridge as visibility is getting pretty low here. that marine layer is being come pressed down to about a thousand feet. we are not going to see that in concord. a mostly clear sky and more temperatures. it won't be as hot has it has been earlier this week it will feel that way because of mugginess. it is 64 at half-moon bay. we'll talk about what's ahead for the weekend coming up. you're starting with the good news. >> the great news. the neighbor's toll plaza. look at that. it is easy to get across this area. a little slow but no major

problems on the approach. this is west highway 4. we are looking over here. this is on the peninsula. this continues. we have one way traffic control. you can see it slow off of 280 getting to the scene of a crash. a semi truck and pickup truck involved there an earlier crash. a may jr. impajor impact connec highway 1 and 280 there. it is an issue. expect delays right there. we'll track it because half-moon bay will be popular later ton today. the rest of the bay moves smoothly. also again, the fog at the golden gate bridge, i pass this along to you. >> thank you. it is 6:01. developing now in missouri the death toll after a boat capsized

on a missouri lake. we need to warn you, the video is tough to watch. >> poor people. >> you see the conditions they were up against. 31 people on board that boat when it started to take on water. we have learned 13 people were killed, some of them children. two bodies were recovered this morning. several people are still missing. all of this happened on a lake near branson. they say strong winds may have caused this. the today show interviewed the woman who captured the boat taking on water. >> first we really didn't realize it had sunk. when all of the crews started running and the captain was giving orders to get the life vests and get out there and help them then everybody kind of -- we cried a little bit.

>> seven people recovering in the hospital. one of them seriously hurt. divers spent hours searching the lake before stopping overnight. they have expected to be back in the water this morning. in 199913 people drowned when one of the boats sank in hot springs, arkansas. in 2010 a barge plowed into a duck boat which stalled on the delaware river. in 2015 five colleague students when a duck boat crash into a charter bus. san francisco used to have ride the duck service. it went out of business back in 2015. 6:03 right now. national anthem after the nfl announcing it will stop

enforcing new rules. today in the bay is live at levi stadium. >> reporter: good morning to you. the nfl requiring them to stand or stay in a locker room after they received criticism for the new policy that was leaked to the associated press that could suspend or fine players who protest on the field during the anthem. both the league and nfl player association have agreed to halt enforcement while the two sides work on a resolution. they were challenged in a grievance. you'll recall former started ne kneeling here in 2016 to call police brutality, social

injustice and racial inequality. it called for the firing of the players who don't stand. the dolphins say all options are still open with regards to its policy. they will address this once the season starts in the fall. the nfl came up with it saying putting the focus back on the football game itself after tv ratings last year dropped about 10%. today in the bay. >> all right. keeping us up dated on that. thank you. it is 6:05. police addressing concerns about racial profiling. a recent study showed it's a problem and now the department is looking far solution. police talked about the issue at a meeting last flight. the panel of city leaders answered questions. the study found oakland police are four times more likely to search an african american man's

car than a white man's car. some think the study needs more data. >> the universityover stanford taught us thousand think about the data. it is one thing to collect data. it is another thing to know how to ask the questions of the data. >> to be open and honest and collecting and changing policies and practices. >> he is blaming the mayor for not doing enough to stop racial profiling in oakland. >> oh, my god. oh my god. >> you see that twister? that clean up is underway after tornados ripped through several communities. this is right outside of des moines. this showed the frightened people there rushing to safety in their cars. the cities were the hardest hit.

officials declare it a state of emergency there. a manufacturing plant was in the direct path of that tornado. it shows the footage of that building completely flattened. seven people were inside at the time of the tornado. amazingly no one was severely hurt in any of those storms. the images are really heartbreaking and there are a lot of them on social media. many of them tweeting with iowa tornado and iowa strong. you can follow us on facebook and twitter for the latest out of iowa. our latest there at nbc bay area. developing this morning president trump makes another stunning reversal from what he said monday with putin. now he is inviting him to the white house during the fall election. we are live with plans that are underway this morning. took a lot of people by surprise, tracy.

it is 92 in east san jose. it is 75 in oakland and 93 in pittsburgh. we will still have low 60s for the coast and fog while pa palo alto reaches. mostly san francisco and 80s for parts of the north bay. we are feeling higher humidity. this is surging in from the desert southwest. as of now everything is nice and quiet. we did have lightning strikes. i'll be keeping an eye on the possibility of that happening today. you can see here the yellows show there will be elevated humidity as we duothrough today and the start of the day tomorrow before things dry out. we'll go back to our more comfortable weather for the rest of the weekend. as you make the weekend plans maybe you'll go to art under the oaks. go early in the day. it will be a lot more

and pleasant weekend. taking a live look outside from downtown san jose. good morning and thank you for joining us. i )m laura garcia. and i )m marcus washington. good morning to you. thanks for joining us. kari hall as a look at what we can expect forecast wise. >> we start out with clear skies as we take a live look outside in dublin. it is already a busy start to this friday. maybe you're on your way to the dublin bart station. it will be 62 degrees.

there will be a few more clouds. temperatures heading into the upper 80s and the mugginess we are feeling today. here is a look at the high temperatures. livermore up to 93 degrees. it is 89 in san jose. oakland expect a high of 75. we'll talk about the weekend and some events going on around the bay area. starting with changes at the bay bridge. >> yeah. a little bit of back up. just a bit for fast track lanes. a little bit of slowing. this is how light that friday flow of traffic is. skies are okay. mostly clear skies around the bay. the golden gate bridge continues to be one area where we see a patch of fog there. no major problems. a crash on the shoulder there. over here on the peninsula. this is the one issue we have. this is a traffic control here between 280 and highway 35.

holding up traffic eastbound right now. westbound moving smoothly. the rest of the day moves very smoothly. back to you. >> all right. thanks. 6:32. the aclu will be back in court again today to talk about separating migrant families with a deadline to reunite children with their families is coming up next week. we are live. what does this really mean for migrant families? >> that's what a lot of migrant families are thinking about today as the judge hears from the lawyers for the fifth time in just two weeks ever since the separation started at the border under the trump administration's zero tolerance policy. at this point thousands of people are around the country separated from their parents. trump administration lawyers want more time to reunify the children and the parents. the acul also wants more time but they want more time to

decide whether to seek asylum once they are reunited with their children. the july 26th deadline remains for now. it seems a judge is pretty about that. as of yesterday 364 children are reunited with their parents. we are haeearing a third of parents are not eligible. there is a five point plan that includes background checks and making sure they are fit to get their children back. paused pending the aclu request parents have more time to decide about the asylum issue. if the judge does not extend that july 26th deadline thaen they will have to explain why each and every one of those children was not reunified with their families. it will be a pain staking process, perhaps just as bad as

cutting. you may remember the section of highway that was shut down more than a year. good morning. >> yeah. good morning to you. it has been in the works here. the plan is to close and going up that hill you the sign saying it will be closed. it will turn into a trail for pedestrians as well as bicyclists. we want to show you guys a map so you request gcan get a bette. it will be closed. it is permanently closed down. during that closure pedestrians can still use the street. cyclists can only travel uphill at least for the time being. motorists using it getting

this is the point we have for the bay area. traffic control on highway 92. eastbound starting to build up. crews are saying first eastbound goes and now westbound goes. you're only allowing one lane of traffic in one direction. now, as the warning continues temperatures heat up. it will be a warning for folks getting to half-moon bay. a little slowing and it's really not a problem. no problems or delays for these agencies. i have these. >> yeah. >> think about it. >> think about it. >> yeah. >> take a bus. >> yes. >> do whatever you can. >> as long as it isn't a

sellout. >> it should be. we have this amazing weather. there's no reason to not go there but some other events going on around the bay area. how about summer concert in the park? that starts this evening. it will be about 81 degrees. a little warm but nice little cool down through the rest of the evening. let's look at saturday's forecast across the bay area. we'll have low 70s for the coast. the by at 86 degrees and 92 degrees for the inland valley. on sunday not much of a change. we'll have a wide range in temperatures. this is on saturday in mountain view. there we'll have comfortable temperatures in the upper 70s throughout the afternoon with mostly sunny skies. nice little breeze too. you can say hi to him tonight at the game and then tomorrow go say hi to mike in mountain view.

for california premiums it is kind of a case of good news bad news. the bad news is next year premiums will be going higher bby an average of 9%. they say it's less than the double digit increase each of the past two years but lower than the increase for many other states. it provides insurance for about 1.5 million people who cannot find it elsewhere. you may have found trapped streets but in oakland it has b become a real problem. this weekend will be the firstovfirst of several neighborhood clean ups. if you can't make it that time will be two more clean ups. one on september 29th. that jackpot is growing you better grab your lottery ticket today. that is tonight and that is going to $422 million.
