happening today - the northern california man suing the manufacturers of "roundup" - claiming it gave him cancer... takes the stand. we )ve been covering this case for years. in his lawsuit against monsanto... dewayne johnson alleges the active ingredient in the popular weed killer - caused his non-hodgkin )s lymphoma. the debate over the potential that roundup causes cancer has been going on for decades. the f-d-a says it probably does (not ( cause cancer... but the world health organization says it probably (does. ...of the memorial growing outside a los angeles trader joes. this is where one worker was shot and killed during a tense hostage standoff saturday. trader joe )s says the store wil be closed indefinitely .. to give workers the chance to grieve .. and to process what happened. new details are emerging about the chaos before and during that standoff .. along with the worker who died. relatives say 27-year-old "mely corado" was a trader joe )s store manager. police say she was shot when the suspect crashed his car outside the store - and exchanged gunfire with officers during a chase. the gunman then went into the store. one customer says everyone dove for cover. the suspect surrendered some 3 hours later and freed the nearly 50 people held hostage. police say he had already shot two women including his grandmother .. at his south los angeles home.

san francisco leaders will reportedly weigh two separate measures this week .. that may have a long term impact on massage parlors. one measure would crack down on businesses that illegally operate as brothels. according to the examiner .. supervisors will vote on the plan tomorrow. today .. the examiner reports a committee will debate lifting a ban on massage parlors for the union street commercial corridor. the area stretches from van ness to steiner .. which includes a segment of fillmore. the planning commission approved the plan in march. new this morning - a new record at berkeley. the campus paper reports: the university raised over 569- million dollars last school year. that )s the most ever. the money comes from donations , grants, and pledges... and comes from about 66-thousand

one of the women died. in update on the other victims so far this morning. police say the two were stabbed as they exited the station and they had been riding a richmond train. the father was there before it opened this morning. behind him cameras picked up the sound of grieving relatives. continuing coverage this morning of a brush fire burning in the hills. this was yesterday afternoon and quickly grew to more than 300 acres. >> close to the fire zone with some of the progress that firefighters made overnight. somehow it looking, tom? >> it is looking really good

this morning. they made a lot of progress after the fire started moving up the hills here. one of the things that really helped them was to get all of the air support, the truck and the man support, the firefighter support out here quickly. i talked to a fire captain a few minutes ago. he told me that air support, being able to get the resources to pound the flames quickly really helped keep this small. they thought it could get to 500 acres or more. they line it with water drops and one of the things they try to do is to keep these fires as small as they can by moving the resources. it looks like they were moving up the hill.

now they have about 40% containment lines. the fire captain expects numbers to go way up, maybe 80% contained. they expect to have those in the next half hour. they will have a briefing in a few minutes. there is still weller road. it is evacuated. they are not sure if there's containment around all of the homes up there. they expect people to return to their homes later this morning. >> good to see they are making such great progress. it is 6:34 right now. firefighters joined family and friends far farewell. the service will be held in no modesto. he was married with two young

night. a neighbor filmed it from above. 14 people were hit by gunfire. two people died. the shooter also died at the scene. one witness says it was hard to understand what was happening. >> everyone was sort of moving and going away. it was like it wasn't happening. it is hard to believe it was real. >> they say the gunman was dressed in black police are not ruling out terrorism. a home will not reopen. the pathway home stay closed after the shootings in march. they will end this next month. an army veteran shot and killed three workers. the nonprofit treated more than

trader joe's says the store will close indefinitely so workers can grieve. police say the woman who was killed was a 27-year-old store manager. they say the suspect had not two women including his grandmother at his home and lead police on a chase to the store. crews are recovering the duck boat that sank during a storm last thursday. sadly 17 people were killed. a memorial for the victims was held last night. the service include sz a message of support for victims and friends and family members. the major spoke. investigators trying to figure out why the bet was in the water. they are looking at the safety of the boat. the waves were over 6 feet fall and over 70 miles per hour. we had a brand new update. the fire is 80% contained.
