breaking news for you, tragedy unfolding outside of athens greece. more than 60 people are dead from two fast moving fires. this is happening on the seaside towns. more than 100 people are injured at this point. authorities in this case found bodies of at least 20 people huddled together, some hugging each other. there are on confirmed reports. witnesses say strong winds send fires through some of the coastal kplunties in coastal communities in a matter of minutes. she a former stanford swimmer sentenced for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman. they will argue his conviction will be overturned. the sentence sparked national outrage and lead to a recall who presided over that case.

today in the bay. >> all right. thanks. 5:06 for you. happening today will introduce marijuana ordnance far vote. it will also introduce a resolution to ask voters to tax commercial candidates. here is what the rates would look like. up to $7 for cultivation. up to 4% for all other businesses including retailers. it could add up to $4 million per year to the county. now a follow up. voters in the city of sonoma will reportedly wait two more years to allow more marijuana bids. advocates had been waiting on that. council members voted to push the vote back to fall of 2020. overnight we look through a new study which found many americans over estimate the health

benefits of marijuana and under estimate the risk. they surveyed 16,000 adults about their views on marijuana. more than a third believe drugs helps treat their pain insomnia and depression despite lack of evidence or proof. many incorrectly assume pot cannot be addictive. they also think secondhand smoke and marijuana is safer than tobacco smoke. they say aggressive commercialization is likely. the voice of the oakland raiders for 20 years is talking about being sacked. he explained last night. it started as a disagreement over the interviewing of a coach and it ended with neither man giving any ground and a bitter departure last week. >> i gave a speech. i firmly believe he cannot coach the open raters.

tesla so the company could post the profit. tesal is not asking to give money back. either way this whole idea has unnerved investors. the russians have infiltrated the power system. security officials told the journal russian hackers got so far in. they were able to get into computers that weren't connected to the internet through third party contractors that work with power companies. you can see this might be a little bit of a tight squeeze.

it will heat up into the afternoon. here is a look at the sunrise. sunrise for the morning at 6:05. the seven day forecast is coming up at the bottom of the screen as we get started heading out the door. we are mostly in the upper 50s to low 60s. coolest now in san francisco as well as napa with a 56 degree temperature reading in these spots. let's go to concord. as is sunrises it will be nice and cool and it will start to warm up fast. at 9:00 it is 69 degrees, still comfortable. lunch outside 81 degrees. if you wait a couple more hours it will be 91 degrees. the fast warm up will be the main story today. checking out our san jose temperature trend for the afternoon looking at some upper 70s already by noon. so early plans will be best if you like the cooler weather. and then we are heading up to 94 in morgan hill. it is up to 97 in concord.

it is 79 in san mateo. as hot as 89 degrees here. you may be heading to the coast where we do have to give you a heads up about the possibility of high waves at 4 to 9 feet today as well as tomorrow. the advice is to never turn your back to the water. there may be sneaker waves and rip currents heading out there in the water. so the best advice is if you get caught to swim parallel to the shore and also don't swim if there's no life guard. half-moon bay with the low 60s and water temperatures are still in the mid-50s. be mindful of that. if you have weekend plans let me know about them. i know it's only tuesday. make sure you're following me on social media. it is on facebook, twitter and instagram.

and santa clara voters suddenly face upheaval .. following a legal decision yesterday. that )s when a judge ruled the city must elect its council members by district .. instead of at-large. yesterday a judge ruled that the city must elect council members by district instead of at large. it will be split into six districts with three decided every two years. that judge may decide which districts will vote this fall. the city believes that voters should have had a sentence.

she was stabbed to death at the station. the murder suspect in this incident was arrested right here at the bart station just yesterday evening. i want to show you this as he was taken into incident. police receiving anonymous tips. on that train they were able to stop them at the pleasant hill station. his arrest came as hundreds of people showed up and paid their respects to wilson. according to police they were both on the platform area of the mac ature station when they were stabbed by cowell. calling it one of the most vicious attacks he has ever

seen. >> he is apparently a convicted felon already. why was he wandering the streets? >> she didn't ask for this. >> at this point i just want justice for my daughter. that's all i want, justice for my daughter. >> this marks the third killing in the past week. he was assaulted at this station on wednesday morning in pleasant hill last wednesday. minor injuries but he was found dead on friday due to an infection to a small cut on his knee. on saturday morning at the bay fay station police say a man was punched in the face and fell hitting his head on the ground. he was pronounced dead at the hospital. the suspect is still on the loose. the motive behind the staning is still under investigation.

today in the bay. >> all right. thanks for the late tles. this morning a neighborhood getting back to normal for nearly ten hours yesterday and into the overnight. the streets a s.w.a.t. team. s.w.a.t. officers took a suspect in custody. it started with a traffic stop about 6:00 last night. he barricaded himself inside a home. neighbors were stuck outside for hours. >> i get up and work. >> officers found several guns inside the car. they have not released the reason for the traffic stop. 5:36. happening today we'll hear from secretaries of state and defense both at stanford.

we'll take a look at beach temperatures coming up in about five minutes. i'll let you know what chp says coming up. investigating a fiery crash on highway 17. it killed one person and critically injured another. it happened just before 10:00 last night a van apparently plowed into a car that stopped in the middle of the road. rescuers could not save that person in that mustang. investigators trying to figure out why the mustang stopped in the first place. new details. it appears peace is at hand at the happiest place on earth.

day our coastal areas, i have to give you a heads up. 4 to 9 feet do not turn your back to the beach. a large wave washes up on shore. when you're able to make your way back but the best advice is no swimming because of dangerous rip currents and those waves. if you're going to santa cruz maybe just relaxing on the beach it will be nice and warm with highs reaching into the mid-70s. inland valleys will be shot. we reach our hottest temperatures for tomorrow. you have another delay for the bay bridge. >> yeah. we have fog to slow you down.
