to you. thanks for joining us. want to get you started with your day. you have been telling us today will be the hottest day. >> yes. it will be. we have already had hot weather but it gets hotter this afternoon. expect temperatures in some of our inland east bay valleys and for the south counties to reach into the triple digits. here is a live look outside. as you get ready to head out let's see how temperatures shape up for today. not too bad here. we'll reach up to the mid-80s and start to come back down with nice weather there. looking at 88 degree ns downtown san jose and going to see temperatures for livermore and antioch and concord. let's get a look at our roads this morning. the overall view shows green sensors. we have had a couple of issues here and there. as you're driving on 680 heading

southbound we have had a minor collision there. it may slow you down just a bit. we get a closer look here heading down towards dublin. looking at the bay bridge we are seeing green sensors. i'll have a look coming up in just a minute. a man accused of stabbing and killing will make his first court appearance. >> we are live there at the pleasant hill bart station where that suspect was arrested. i know you have been covering this for us all week. what are you expecting for us today in court? >> a lot of emotions following the deadly stabbing of

18-year-old nia wilson. you mentioned the suspect in this arrested a couple of days ago here at pleasant hill bart station. he will appear in court in just a few short hours. i want to go over his criminal past. he has quite a wrap sheet when you look at it. he robbed a lucky store and he was released back in may of 2018 from prison for asked armed robbery. on monday he was arrested here at pleasant hill for his role as a suspect in that. not to mention he is also on probation for battery and drug conviction. his family claims he suffers from schizophrenia. it doesn't bring much comfort. the community continues to mourn the deadly stabbing of that 18-year-old as that memorial continues to grow.

her father who has been there was in attendance and was greeted by folks here who he says were giving him strength during this difficult time. he was aware he does have a criminal past it's not his main focus right now. >> i have no comment on that right now. my only battle is for my daughters. >>. >> we flow he will appear in court at 9:00 a.m. today in the bay. >> all right. story still tugging at the hearts of a lot of people nationwide. >> yes. a long night in oakland turned into an early morning with lawmakers voting unanimously to put a housing measure on the november ballot. it was an 11 hour council meeting wrapping up at 2:00 a.m. it could mean more protections

look at the beautiful sun visri. we are going above the clouds new that we have a very low marine layer bringing us fog over san francisco. beautiful sunrise there and we will see sunshine as we get a look at inland temperatures at the bart station. it will be 62 degrees as you head out for that morning commute and then warming up very fast today. a little bit cooler no oakland. low 70s for today. let's get a look at what's happening out there on the roads this morning as you get ready for that drive. a few slow spots. a lot of green sensors for most of the bay area. we are going to see that slow down coming through into livermore and also as you make your way north and southbound on 680 we have a little bit of a slow down. we have an issue on 101. it is north of 680.

all of this will clear into the flexion couple of hours. temperature trends will be at 73 degrees and sun new at 10:00. at noon 81 degrees and heading into the upper 80s. the seven day forecast is up at the bottom of the screen. as you start out the door feeling comfortable. low 70s at 8:00. at noon we are already feeling the heat. it will be 89 degrees reaching into the upper 90s and triple digits there in pittsburgh. heading up to 93. you prep for that garlic

festival. some of the breakers may reach up to and the best advice because of the rip currents don't even go swimming. so we are going to have cooler temperatures there and we'll keep an eye on all of that. i'm keeping an eye on the roads for you this morning as you get ready to head out. highway 4 approaching into concord may be slowing down a little bit there. we go north and southbound, the approach to the san mateo bridge moving very slowly this morning and then in the south bay we have got a slow down on 101 going northbound. it will cause you to slow down just a bit as you head out the door.

she said she left the window open and believed the dog was fine. firefighters do not have the authority to issue citations but posted to remind people cars can get extremely hot even with an open window. developing today tourists have only a few hours to evacuate. and the ferguson fire is the reason it is closing. officials say it is at least a thousand campground and how tell rezlations will be cancelled. crews need to keep that space safe and the fire at bay without having to deal with tourists and traffic. >> we found everyone here is from different countries. they come from all over the world to come here and have yosemite closed.

the department fwetweeted out t photo. it happened on 65th avenue. it is the second shooting in oakland overnight. it happened around 10:40. two people were shot there. no word on the condition in that shooting. in you this morning the latest is bus and rail service were reportedly be aimed at helping low income riders. according to the examiner between now and next february service will increase on about a dozen lines. that includes the light rail lines. they are calling communities of concern. a georgia lawmaker caught with his pants down literally on a television show is resigning over that questionable behavior. many have heard the first part of the story. the show is who is america. it is on show time.

president trump sent out in the last couple of hours. he likes to slap people a lot all of the time. so that's going to be an interesting interaction. we assume he won't slap the president of the united states. and of course in the middle of this visit all washington can talk about is the release of audio tapes and former lawyer talks about karen mcdougal who alleged she had an affair with the president. cnn got ahold of that tape and the new lawyers released the transcript. he seems to knowledge it saying what do we have to pay for this,

someone is waking up a mega-millionaire this morning. the (only ( winning mega millis lottery ticket in the country was sold at ernie )s liquor store in east san jose. the jackpot-- a whopping 522- million dollars. they family that owns the the jackpot is a whopping 5$522 million. they will get a cool million dollars for selling the ticket. no one has come forward to claim the winnings just yet. here are the numbers. 1, 2, 4, 19, 29 and that mega ball of 20. lucky person. turned into an early morning.

coming up on the today show extreme weather from coast to coast are tracking the downpours soaking the east coast and the deadly heat wave in the western u.s. tourists only have a few hours to evacuate. part of state route 41 will shut down at noon and likely stay shut through sunday because of the ferguson fire. at least a thousand hotel reservations will be cancelled.
