start out. we'll get clearing as we go through the next few hours and start out with some cool temperatures in the low 60s, heading into the low 80s. look at our microclimates for our high temperatures today, reach up to 91 in livermore and 66 in san francisco. napa today 85. also 85 in san jose. we'll talk more about what's ahead for the weekend coming up, and mike has a look at the morning drive. >> which is very calm right now. overall you see almost everything green. we of course have your slowdown has been for the last two weeks. eastbound has that paving work and overnight roadwork westbound. the roadwork should be picking up. the last couple minutes good for 280 southbound. one lane was blocked for almost two hours but the speed sensors are back to green in the last five. south 280 minor vehicle crash. getting across the bay bridge the speed sensors move fine,

"today in the bay" is live where firefighters left to help the crews up north. big fight they have against them. >> reporter: yes, as you mentioned there, firefighters here in couthe corte madeira. the fire exploded overnight and a ton of other fire agencies in the bay area headed up there as well. the fire increasing due to aase. i want to show our viewers what allior t firefighters. that is what they'll be battling when they show up.

officials say it was the wind, hot temperatures and humidity that contributed to the fire, tripling in sis since monde ini. it jumped the sacramento river and reaching the reading area, that's the big concern right now. reading is the largest city in this region, with about 92,000 people. as far as the size of this fire, it is more than 28,000 acres and only at 6% containment. bun bulldozer operator on the fire lines has been killed as a result of the fire, firefighters as well, civilians taken to hospitals for injuries, as well as dozens of homes destroyed, structures are threatened and thousands of residents are being forced to evacuate this area as e we'll continue to follow the story and have another update for you at the top of the hour. we're live in corte madeira, pete suratos for "today in the

this morning confirmation west nile virus tested positive in martinez, and two dead crows tested positive in sunnyvale and santa clara. crews did mosquito fogging in the cities. there's not been any human case in the south bay since 2016. by the end of the year, there may be a plan in place for a secondary downtown in walnut creek. for years, developers have been trying to create a north downtown district, this would cover the area between civic, california and parkside. last night planners held a study session, their goal is to have the city council approve a> i sh headache for commuters beyond the usual delays and crowds. muni has an operator shortage, the reason is training issues. operators are getting lessons on new trains, buses and shuttles for the twin peaks tunnel project and they're training fewer operators that can run scheduled service.

good morning, i'm contessa brewer at cnbc global to open higher this morning, the dow futures are up 45 following a mixed trading session yesterday. the dow rose more than 100 points but the nasdaq fell by about 1%. facebook really dragged down that tech sector. facebook lost roughly $120 billion in market value, the largest one-day loss by any company in u.s. history. on today's watch list for investors, a report on second quarter gdp, which may show the u.s. economy grew at the fastest pace in four years. the dow closed up 112 points,
