it's the exceptional temperatures that keep things very dangerous in this area. temps as we go through the week, we're going to stay in northern and even southern california well up above 100 degrees through sunday, perhaps even into the middle of next week. the exception is southwestern california near l.a. you go inland a bit and that's the difference between temperatures in the 80s versus well above 100 degrees. this looks like this pattern will be sticking around through next week. >> dylan, thank you. as you just saw, busy morning at the white house. the president speaking out a few moments ago about the state of the economy. and also on twitter talking about the russia investigation as it appears the president's former attorney and confidante, michael cohen, is ready to talk and what michael cohen could say could have major implications for the special counsel investigation. nbc national correspondent peter alexander is at the white house. hi, peter. good morning again. >> reporter: good morning to you. the president dealing with two competing national story lines right now trying to put out any
