san mateo bridge, here's vianey. >> we saw something pop up on the bay bridge. it went away, but we have something else that popped up. this one, the spato bridge, you can see the map for the most part, nice can clear. let's get right to it because i have great news. it popped up and this was along the westbound side at the heyward toll plaza. the median was blocked and they worked very quickly to remove that, not causing delays aside from slowing right before getting to the san mateo bridge. so i do -- oh, that's not the right camera. that's okay. the san mateo bridge, it's looking very good out there. no major issues to report. back to you. >> thank you very much. >> 5:00 right now. it's been more than a week since the tragic killing of nia wilson at the mcarthur b.a.r.t. station. now, her family plans to sue the transit agency. today in the bay's bob redell live at the pleasant hill b.a.r.t. station where the suspect accused of killing her was eventually caught. the wilson family attorney questions why the suspect was allowed on b.a.r.t. in the first

place. >> correct. good morning to you, laura. the attorney representing the family of nia wilson accuses the suspect, john cowell, of being a fare jumping transient. they believe he entered b.a.r.t. the day of the murder without paying. that b.a.r.t. should have recognized that and stopped him, noting that this item was, quote, foreseeable and preventable. it was on sunday, july 22nd, last month. cowell allegedly slashed the neck of 18-year-old nia wilson, stabbed her older sister, as they along with a third sister boarded a b.a.r.t. train at the mcarthur station. cowell escaped. nia bled to death on the platform. her sister survived. the lawsuit alleged cowell fare jumped. police arrested him after a tip from a rider. the lawsuit also alleges that other criminals freely come and go on b.a.r.t. because of lax security at the turnstiles. a lawsuit that has not yet been

filed but the family attorney said they will be filing. b.a.r.t. did release a statement in response to the offending lawsuit. they say nothing is more important than the safety of our riders and employees. in the last several years, b.a.r.t. has launched a multi-prong approach to reduce fare evasion, including a new proof of payment ordinance and inspection teams as well as infrastructure changes to make it harder to bypass fare gates. b.a.r.t. also notes they have more than 4,000 surveillance cameras in operation throughout the system and police patrols, increased police patrols led to a 40% increase in arrests last year. now, nia's viewing will be later today, and there will be a funeral service tomorrow in oakland between 11:00 and 2:00. again, that will be in oakland. reporting live in pleasant hill, bob redell, today in the bay. >> thank you, bob. >> continuing coverage on a washington this morning. in a slew of tweets, the president issued one of his most direct calls yet to end the

russia investigation. but was it a direct order or was he blowing off steam on twitter? tracie potts is live in washington with what lawmakers think is going on. this matters, tracie. >> well, it could certainly matter in the russia investigation, depending on what the president's intent was here, to shut down the investigation or just to talk about it. now, the latest reports indicate the mueller team, the russia investigators, are looking very closely at the president's tweets, plus other evidence to determine whether or not there's a case here for obstruction of justice. attorney general jeff sessions should stop this rigged witch hunt right now. president trump tweeted. >> clearly, his statement is serious and substantial evidence of criminal intent. >> it's not an order. it's the president's opinion. >> "the new york times" reports robert mueller's russia team is scrutinizing the president's tweets. >> every time there's a new tweet, they put another tab in their file and say, this is

everyone somehow survived it. that was a video taken during the moment of impact showing just how bad it was. you saw it there briefly. the plane was headed from durango to mexico city when it crashed shortly after takeoff in stormy weather. nbc news has learned most of those injured suffered only m e minor injuries. 65 americans were onboard, 16 from the chicago area. they were celebrating their pastor's birthday. he still remains in the ht, but he's trying to maintain his sense of humor. >> titanium plate put in my arm. i'm going to be the bionic padre. >> aviation experts believe the plane may have been struck by what's called a microburst after takeoff, forcing it to the ground. the investigation is still under way. >> frightening night for people at a bakersfield hospital. an update to breaking news you might have seen at 11:00. police gave the all clear late last night after reports of an active shooter inside the hospital. fortunately, after searching every room and every floor,

there was no evidence of a gunman or a shooting. >> it's 5:05. san jose police department's new crime fighting tool lands its first arrest. a suspected bank robber. police acousbrian austin of robbing a bank yesterday afternoon. crucial factor in the arrest, sjpd's new helicopter, air 3. you may have recalled we told you about the new chopper last week. police say air 3 was doing a presentation at the san jose police academy when officers heard the bank call come in. the chopper helped track down the suspect to san jose international airport. he was raeed in the parking lot. >> oakland mayor libby schaaf will fire for re-election. that happens this morning at 9:30 at city hall. schaaf will face a crowded field this november. at least six others have announced they're running for mayor. the 52-year-old schaaf first took office in 2015. >> this is for south bay commuters. big changes could be coming your

way, especially if you take vta's light rail in san jose. the agency is thinking of doing away with the express service on the alum rock line. officials say it would save money. today they're going to vote on that plan. >> san francisco sales force transit center nearly ready to roll after eight years of construction. next saturday, they open the signature five-acre rooftop park with a celebration including live music and, believe it or not, food trucks. they're hoisting them to the top. happening today, the media gets its first look. that's why they send us up first. the transit center is supposed to start full service on sunday, august 12th. >> this weekend will be your last chance to check out marin county's lighthouse. it's closing on monday. not for good. the marin ij reports the 148-year-old structure will under go a major revamp costing $5 million. it's going to be closed until october. >> classic look there. right, rob? >> yeah. >> if you can look at it through

the fog. >> you really can't see much this morning on the coast. the reason you need the lighthouse. we have fog and mist over san francisco right now. temperatures in the low 50s and that all-day sea breeze means as we head into the afternoon, high today in the 60s around san francisco. closer to 70 in oakland. low 80s around san jose, and maybe closer to 90 inland around morgan hill. you see those temperatures for concord, antioch, and livermore, upper 80s. that's part of today's forecast. you can see right there. temperatures trending warmer as we head into the weekend. so the weather looking pretty good. but misty skies perhaps on some of the peninsula commute this morning. >> yeah, that's about it. we're not seeing major accidents. if you're going to be heading out the door, it's a good time to do so. you have an early start, not dealing with major headaches in terms of traffic. now, we can see the speed sensors picking up plenty of green. we haven't seen any major slowing in the south bay, but i want to take you and show you some of the drive times in case

at 5:12, we're starting you off in dublin. no low clouds. temperatures heading into the afternoon climbing into the mid 80s. we'll talk when 90s can make a return in the extended forecast. >> a live look along 101. both the southbound and northbound side are moving along quite nicely. in the south bay, we're seeing a couple slow spots. i'll have a complete look at that in a bit. i'm contessa brewer at cnbc. dow futures are off by more than 160 points on renewed trade concerns as the trump administration confirms plans to raise tariffs on chinese imports

to 25%. the dow fell yesterday on those concerns. it offset strong gains in tech. in fact, apple closed as a record high. investors digested the fed's latest decision. they did not hike interest rates. they call the economy strong and likely that means the fed is still on course to raise rates in september. yesterday, the dow was off 81 points and the nasdaq rose 35. vizio is launching a free streaming service called watch free, including it on nearly all of its smart tv sets. it can browse more than 100 live and linear channels covering tv shows, sports, concerts, and viral videos, but you can't pause or rewind because it's linear. it shows up at a certain time. vizio says the service will have its own dedicated input on the tv so you can remove it if you don't like it. >> elon musk says tesla will add old-school atari video games to the in-car display screen in an upcoming software update. he's hoping to include classic

titles like tempest, missile command and pole position. the driving controls for pole position apparently would be linked to the vehicle's actual steering wheel. musk then said it's only when the vehicle is stopped. he's also calling for video game developers to lend a hand on future updates. like we need more distractions. >> i can't imagine. >> thank you. now let's point out that announcement about video games came just a few hours after musk told the world his bay area car company once again lost money. it has $718 million less now than it did three months ago. there are serious concerns about tesla's cash burn and how much money it has left. musk says tesla will be profitable permanently by the end of september. >> the mayors of three of the bay area's largest cities are uniting to try to combat the housing crisis. last night, the mayors of san francisco, oakland, and san jose came together for a town hall at

next door headquarters in san francisco. mayor sam liccardo and london breed say it's time for big companies and smaller cities to join in the effort to fix the housing problem. >> using a combination of transportation dollars as incentives as well as probably some fees for those cities that are expanding their job base without expanding housing, i think would go a long way. >> tying job growth to housing growth and holding these companies accountable. >> the mayors are also turning to tech for a solution to the electric scooter controversy. the rides curbed in san francisco, but still buzzing around san jose and oakland. mayor liccardo says he's hoping a geo fence like grocery stores use for shopping carts, can prevent them from operating on sidewalks. >> airbnb prices are going up because of a new tax. the cities and airbnb agreed to

a 10% occupancy tax. similar agreements already exist between airbnb and several other bay area cities. >> color is an important thing for grape growers in wine country. when the grapes start to turn from green to red, the harvest is getting close. that's what's starting to happen for a lot of crops. that typically means the grape harvest is just about six weeks away. growers expect the haul to be slightly larger than average. >> new video and unusual traffic stop in colorado. the car was already parked and left unlocked. and the subject behind the wheel acting like a real animal. >> because it was. >> it ran off. the deputies from a distance had actually opened the car remotely. that way they didn't have to get in there, but yeah, you see the car was trashed, and this may be a lesson for the driver, when you're in bear country, do not leave yummy things in your car. >> they will sniff out the smallest little piece of gum. >> it's amazing. yes, they absolutely will.

i will also point out if you have teenage boys and you lend them your car, it looks about the same. >> i have that to look forward to. >> need to ask chris chmura if insurance covers that. >> it does. it happened in my boyfriend's car. a bear tore out the center console. >> what did he have? >> candy. >> let's check the weather with rob. >> the weather we're seeing is bearable, i would say. 61 degrees in san jose right now. one of the more mild spots, palo alto. a few patchy low clouds. 54 degrees. we'll take you to san francisco, and yeah, it's the start of foggest again. you have low clouds, misty skies. 52 degrees, and the sea breeze which will be around all day long, will help keep temperatures mild, and some of the smoke from the fires burning to the north, particulate pollution in the moderate range. in sacramento and lake county,

that's a different story. we'll have more widespread smoke pollution. low 80s near downtown san jose. and once you muth south of downtown, temperatures climbing towards the 90s. tri-valley out towards concord today, mid to upper 80s. still near 90 around pittsburg. cool, low 70s from oakland to the heyward peninsula. temperatures mostly in the 70s, and look at half moon bay into san francisco, all day sea breeze, 15 to 20 miles per hour winds coming off the ocean. and north bay, temperatures for now in the 80s. closer to the bay area, but up towards lake county and ukiah, still seeing numbers in the mid 90s. short term, we're going to see temperatures cooling as we head towards the weekend. you myth think that's good for the fires. you have cooler temperatures coming in, but the reason why it's cooling is we have a trough of low pressure to the north and very likely, winds will be on the increase. that's something we have to watch late tomorrow into saturday. bay area temperatures coming

down and then high pressure strengthens again, building back out of the desert southwest. doesn't look like monsoon moisture is going to creep back our way, but this will bring in our temperatures by tuesday and wednesday of next week. could be approaching 100 degrees once again inland. in the meantime, not much change around san francisco. as you can see the regime of low clouds and misty skies for the morning should hold up for most of the seven-day forecast. inland spots, cooler today. slight bump up in temperature as we start the weekend, but the bigger rise in temperatures likely approaching next tuesday and wednesday. other than low clouds and mist, at least weather wise, not much, i think, getting in the way of the morning xut. >> not much. in fact, it's always nice from the traffic center to say that we don't have a lot going on in the traffic department. in fact, it's been very quiet all morning long. you can see the speed sensors, this is an overall look at the bay area. green for go. nothing to slow you down this morning. you should have no problems getting to work or wherever you're headed. i do want to give you an update on the tri-valley drive times

the crossfire of a welcome back, everyone. it's 5:23. the los angeles trader joe's where an employee was caught in the cross fire of a police shootout last month will reopen today. you may recall the story. police arrived at the trader joe's on silver lake and opened fire on a man who barricaded himself in the store. an assistant manager walked outside and was killed by police confire. >> trader joe's released a statement saying moving forward is an important part of supporting the healing of this community. >> terrifying moments caught on camera in china. take a look at this.

it involves what's very popular here in the bay area. don't know if you could make it out, but there was an electric scooter. a chinese family's home surveillance showed smoke shooting out of the scooter. as it first starts coming out, the man scrambles to gets the kids out and the thing completely explodes. luckily, the family got out in the nick of time. the explosion was because the scooter's battery, they say. they warned smoke coming from burning batteries is highly toxic. people can suffocate within seconds from it. >> it's 5:24. when it comes to passwards most americans aren't clever, and security experts say they're easy to crack. >> karen, what kind of parents do they use? >> often their children's names. >> and that's not all. check out these graphics of employee passwords from a media and manufacturing company. more than 10,000 workers used the word password in some way in their password.

now, here's a tip, don't do that. good passwords are about length. come up with a long send nls that you won't forget. >> if you haven't heard for the 2020 census, the trump administration wants to ask people about their citizenship status. today, london breed will hold a press conference urging people to speak out against that idea. many california leaders oppose the question which was dropped from the survav in 1950. the fear is people will not participate in the census which could lead to massive undercounts in california which could lead to less representation in congress. >> happening today, for football fans, the wait is over. the nfl kicks off the season with the hall of fame game. but there are lingering questions heading into tonight's game. for one, how is the league going to handle potential national anthem protests? owners called off their planned league-wide policy. also, 49er great terrell owens is going into the hall this year, but he's skipping the induction to do his own celebration in tennessee. you can watch the game tonight right here on nbc bay area.

very happy thursday to you. let's take you to san mateo where even the flowers are getting ready for a sunny day. good morning, everyone. thank you for joining us. i'm scott mcgrew. marcus washington has the week off. >> i'm laura garcia. rob is in for kari this morning. >> good to be here. you'll be happy to have a jacket around the north bay. 50 in santa rosa and 52 in san francisco. around concord today, numbers in the mid to upperiates. not quite as hot as the weather we saw earlier this week. as you can see, san jose, low 80s this afternoon. 60s closer to san francisco. and some 70 degree temperatures around oakland and bayside.

now, for another check of your thursday morning drive, here's vianey. >> i can't believe we're here on the same day. usually one of us is doing weather and the other is off. look at this traffic map. we don't have a lot going on. it's always nice to say that. especially, it's 5:30, we typically start to see fender benders. chp reports have been rather quiet. let's give you an update on bridge drive times because thee tend to slow down. westbound 80 towards the bay bridge, 12 minutes, westbound 92 toward the san mateo bridge, 12 minutes. here's the reason why. we have metering lights and they're very much on. back to you. >> thanks so much. we begin with the latest developments on the mendocino complex fire burning in lake and mendocino counties this morning. another nerve-racking day ahead for firefighters and thousands of people evacuated right now. here is where things stand at this hour. so far, nearly 95,000 acres are burned. 14 homes destroyed. but those numbers could go up today as firefighters struggle to gain the upper hand. today in the bay's angel is live

in lakeport with the progress that crews are making so far. still such a long road ahead for all the people there and the firefighters as well. >> that's right. as you make it into the seventh day of the fire, some families are being allowed to return back home, but cal fire is warning this is still a very large and very active fire and that evacuation orders could be issued again. just to give you an idea of what it's like out here. behind me, you can see this house, but right across the street, the driveway, you can see how close the fire came. i have been speaking to fire officials all week. they say one of their top priorities has been to save as many homes as possible. but it hasn't been easy. let's show you some video of the firefight from just before sunset as the aerial assault continues from above. once the sun comes out again, planes and helicopters will likely take to the skies. part of the strategy, hold that containment line. as we reported yesterday, the fire jumped the containment line and burned homes near the

lakeport area where we are right now. i checked with cal fire this morning. one of the biggest obstacles, the weather. it has been hot during the day. the changes direction of the winds keeps fueling these massive fire growths. for people who live in the area, cal fire held a community meeting last night to help answer questions. congressman mike thompson and john garamendi spoke. they're working with the feds to guarantee more funding to the area. most people are just thankful to be safe, but the stress of the unknown, checking every day to see if their house is burnt to the ground, is really starting to take its toll, especially for those whose property is threatened by both fires. >> almost in the middle of both right now. yeah. kind of feel like a smoked brisket. >> stressful. yeah, very stressful. trying to keep a positive outlook on things. >> i spoke with some evacuees who returned for the first time

yesterday. glad to be home, but many say until these fires are out, life will be anything but normal. cal fire says it's likely it will take them well into next week before they reach full containment on these fires. reporting live, today in the bay. >> even our governor yesterday saying this is the new normal with so many fires in california. thank you. there are four fires total burning in mendocino county. the latest broke out yesterday afternoon. it had people in the north bay on high alert. the western fire is located along highway 101, two miles north of the sonoma county line near the community of cloverdale. fortunately, firefighters got on that one on time. just 45 acres and 50% contained. crews say they have stopped it from spreading. last night, people in sonoma county were told to pay close attention to alerts from the sheriff's office just in case. and we have new numbers on the carr fire in shasta county. that's the big one.

1,058 homes have been destroyed. more than 120,000 acres have burned so far. and the fire is just 35% contained. now, you can track the carr fire and all of the fires burning in the state at nbcbayarea.com. >> it is 5:34. new developments in the search for an iowa woman who vanished more than a week ago. more than 300 people gathered in waterloo last night to help in the search for mollie tibbetts. a university of iowa student who actually grew up in oakland. now there's new hope of finding her alive. investigators said there was a possible sighting at a truck stop in missouri, more than 230 miles away from where she disappeared. we spoke to her mother on the phone last night. she said she hasn't heard anything from police at all about that possible sighting. mollie was last seen on a nightly run through brooklyn, iowa. last thing she did was send a snapchat of herself to her boyfriend.

her friends say they're keeping faith they'll find her alive. >> going to run off, i don't know, i try not to speculate too much because the only thing that comes into your head whenever you're not investigating all the facts is that something bad happens, and you don't want -- i personally don't want to believe that. >> the tibbetts family is getting donations for a reward fund for information leading to her safe return home. the reward amount will be announced later today in iowa. >> it's 5:35. the owner of this saxophone is looking for it. it was stolen from inside the san francisco main library. apparently, she was part of a marching band getting ready to perform in a parade but made a stop at the library. police tell the chronicle she set that saxophone down for just a minute and somebody took it. anybody who has seen or heard anything about this should contact sfpd. more than a dozen mayors from contra costa county will meet today to discuss the opioid crisis. the highlight will be

prescription drug disposal ordinance when the mayors are expected to present. the conference happening tonight in danville. evening traffic in one of the bay area's most congested areas. a live look at highway 101 off university avenue in palo alto where we can finally see a little relief for drivers. >> kris sanchez live there now with changes we'll see in the coming months. good morning. >> hi there, laura and scott. you know that feeling you get when you think you're getting all the green lights on the way to where you're headed? the city of palo alto is going to spend green to make sure drivers can get through university avenue a little easier without cutting into some of the residential streets. let me show you where we're talking about. this is a map, we're talking university avenue where we are this morning, between middlefield road and dumbarton bridge, and also on donahoe road on east palo alto. the idea is to get drivers moving through palto alto quickly and keep them from

hope everyone's thursday is off to a really good start because our traffic maps are definitely showing that, with the exception of some slowing. this is the northbound side along 101 in the south bay, and san jose, it doesn't look like there are crashes reported there yet, but it could just be some typical morning slowing. i want to show iyou a quick chek of the east bay drive times. 680 tends to get extremely busy, especially closer to the 6:00 a.m. hour. you're looking at 11 minutes, and southbound 880 is about 12 minutes. a live look right now at a very busy bay bridge toll plaza. those metering lights have been on since about 5:30. but thank goodness compared to yesterday where we had the three issues on the bay bridge, i haven't seen any issues and that's always a good thing. >> you know what we're close to? the weekend. >> and you have the weekend weather team here. >> perfect. >> true. >> we will have nice weather for

the weekend. inland temperatures climbing into the 80s and 90s, if you're heading out to santa cruz, you have low 70s with morning low clouds. if you head up to napa, temperatures will be a bit warmer towards saturday. upper 80s, might see smoky skies in the northern stretches of sonoma and napa counties. better air quality sunday as the winds pick up out of the southwest, and tahoe, patches of smoke. temperatures in the 80s on friday, upper 70s as we start the weekend. right now, around the bay area, you have misty skies. san francisco, a foggy start with temperatures in the low 50s. so grab a light jacket this morning and keep the jacket on in san francisco today. highs only in the 60s. now, livermore, 55 currently. should see temperatures returning to the upper 80s later on. and towards palo alto, 54 degrees. some low clouds around parts of the south bay. floating into san jose currently. 61 degrees. temperatures later on in the low

80s around downtown san jose and los gatos and campbell, could see temperatures in the 80s, still near 90 around morgan hill and gilroy. tri-valley, mid to upper 80s. pittsburg, close to 90. bayside temperatures staying in the 70s around oakland. similar trend of temperatures for belmont into palo alto. cool 60 in half moon bay. mid 60s around san francisco, and north bay temperatures today climbing into the 80s, at least for areas south of santa rosa, but unfortunately, toward lake county and ukiah and mendocino county, temperatures still today in the mid 90s. a bit of a reprieve from the hot temperatures and the pressure, we'll have to watch, even as temperatures cool along the fire zones, winds will be on the increase this weekend. towards sunday, temperatures cool down. the pattern reverses as the heat makes a comeback. big comeback possible for the valley by next wednesday. san francisco, not much changed, but inland temperatures once we

at 5:43, seeing partly cloudy skies around san jose and willow glen, hour by hour forecast, temperatures closer to 80s degrees. a full look at your weekend temperatures coming up in less than five minutes. >> a live look right now along southbound and northbound side of 101. we're seeing two traffic collisions that could impact your morning commute. we're already starting to see some slowing in the live cam right there. i'll have an update on what might be coming with some delays coming up. >> tsa seems to think smaller airports are safe enough, there's no need for a security checkpoint. the agency is considering eliminating the checkpoints at 150 airports to save money. tsa didn't say which airports, but said it would affect about 10,000 passengers dally. now, the idea is the passengers would then be screened at bigger airports when they arrive for connecting flights. that's something that doesn't happen now. once you're in the system,

there, once again, san francisco. misty skies to start off your thursday morning. 52 degrees. and as the skies clear, the haze is still in the air around the north bay, east bay, and parts of the coast. moderate air quality levels. i think if you're in northern sonoma county or napa county, still some areas of smoke from the larger wildfires burning to the north. temperature wise today, not too bad. we should see low 80s around san jose. closer to 90 in morgan hill. gilroy, 92. upper 80s south of downtown. tri-valley over towards concord, highway 4, mostly in the 80s today, still near 90 near pittsburg and 20 degrees cooler, highs in the 70s in oakland and heyward. upper 50s to near 60 there around daly city. into san francisco, mid 60s in the forecast today. all-day sea breeze keeps the temperatures down and mostly 80s inland into the north bay. as we move to the weekend, we will get cooling sunday, but as a trough of low pressure

approaches, could get gusty winds on the fire lines. that's something we'll be watching closely. then high pressure builds back towards california. really the story of july now could repeat around the middle of next week as we see the temperatures starting to rise again in the seven-day forecast. not so much for san francisco, but look at the valley temperatures. towards tuesday and wednesday, mid 90s, could be making a comeback again. now to see what's happening with your thursday commute, some issues around the south bay with vianey. >> the south bay definitely seeing slowing. especially if you're anywhere near southbound or northbound 101. let me show you what i'm talking about in terms of the map location. i'm going to zoom right into the south bay area right now. we saw what appears to be chp reporting it as a road hazard because there looks to be some sort of fire, maybe a small brush fire on the right-hand shoulder. this is northbound 101. you see the hazard there. that's what causing some of these delays. they are already out on the scene so they should be working to clear that out nicely. we also have another crash, this

in santa rosa. one of the most dramatic stories to come from last year's fires. graham rutherford is no longer the principal at cardinal newman high school. in fact, there will not be any principal at the high school. the paper is reporting duties will be split among a team of six administrators. rutherford will be dean of student life. he's led cardinal newman for 35 years including last year when flames destroyed the campus. even more inspiring, the team's football team, led by players who lost their homes, they won the north bay league title. in decision 2018, new numbers show democrat gavin newsom with a big financial lead in the race for governor. he has seven times more money than his opponent, republican john cox. the l.a. times looked through the campaign financial reports filed this week. they show newsom has $11 million in the bank. cox has $1.5 million. >> new this morning, marijuana

francisco. warmest temperature in some of the east bay valleys. speaking of the east bay, here's an early look at your commute with vianey. >> we were doing so well in the 4:00 and 5:00 a.m. hour in the east bay, which typically tends to get busy around this hour. sure enough, 6:00 a.m., we can see we have a couple issues. the south bay, still working to recover along northbound 101 due to what appears to be a fire on the right-hand shoulder. now we have this issue in the east bay, northbound 880 at alvarado boulevard. two lanes blocked. you can see it's causing some slowing. we have our speed sensors picking up red and yellow out there. also on the opposite side as well, this is backed up all the way to whipple road. if you can, hop off. take some surface streets on both northbound and southbound side. you can see they're both starting to clog up. it could be because they have some cops out there getting ready to clear out some of those roads. i'll have another update on exactly what you're expecting on your bridges in a bit. back to you. >> thank you, vi
