more sunshine to start off the weekend now, just patchy low clouds returning to the coast later. maybe a bit breezy and cooler tomorrow and temperatures closer to 70 by midweek. here's the biggest change. it's the seven-day forecast, very likely starting tuesday through friday, we could see valley temperatures in the mid to upper 90s and it does look like we could see not only a combination of ground level ozone but more smoke pollution at times. we'll let you know if that desert southwest high will bring any more monsoon moisture our way coming up towards the middle of next week. we'll have a look at that in our next half hour. >> thanks. at 7:21, still ahead on "today in the bay" a bay area proud update. once upon a time we introduced you to a woman who benefited from a random act of kindness. now two years later, we'll show you how she's paying it forward. a

morning, 67 degrees out near the airport with hazy skies, mostly sunny start to the day. you see here concord over my shoulder around mt. diablo, some of the smoke up towards contra costa and solano counties from those north bay fires. we'll see smoke issues around napa county, solano county, contra costa county with better air quality a little further to the south and off to the west. smoke advisory this weekend. speaking of the smoke, the carr fire to the north has a red flag warning attached to it until 11:00 tonight. gusty winds, dry conditions, low humidity and temperatures in the mid-90s there. the mendocino complex fire, the ranch fire and river fire locations, lake county has a red flag warning also through 11:00 tonight, gusty at times so weather conditions unfortunately not helping things off to our north. temperatures around the bay area, upper 60s, close to 70 in san francisco. should see mid-70s for oakland. then as we get into san jose, we begin to see some 90s showing up
7:46 am
just south of the airport downtown into morgan hill and low to mid-90s around the tri-valley. we'll likely get the winds to pick up mid-afternoon so temperatures will warm up fast towards noon and look for the winds to pick up and level off that heating later on. so high pressure giving up a little bit of ground tomorrow and monday which will allow temperatures to dip just a little bit. watch what happens as we get towards tuesday, wednesday and thursday. strong high pressure rebuilds, keeping all that ocean air conditioning mainly just for the coast and san francisco. so that's one part of the story we're watching. another thing we're watching potentially is hurricane hector, major hurricane there, category 3, drifting to the south of hawaii towards the middle of next week. if you have travel plans next wednesday keep a close eye on that storm. watching where some of the moisture ends up. with this high pressure off in the desert southwest, it doesn't look like the two are going to funnel much in the way of
7:47 am
monsoon moisture. it looks like it's staying bottled up across southern california. at times may see a few high clouds drifting our way. so that high pressure, unfortunately the main effect will be air pollution issues and big heat we think towards the middle of next week. notice san francisco not much of a problem with that heat. we think we'll have enough of a sea breeze to keep temperatures in the 60s to low 70s but valleys will really see temperatures climb, trending maybe a bit cooler this weekend. by tuesday, wednesday and thursday, stay tuned, hot temperatures, could see spare the air days and unfortunately more smoke around the bay area. back to you. >> all right, rob, thanks. it is 7:47. still ahead on "today in the bay" a loved one's death should not trigger a dispute with your health insurance company, but it did for one east bay family. we took action. we'll show you how nbc bay area responds, next. you could save energy
