landed in southern california. we'll also update you on all of the wild fires raging across california. we'll update you when you might be able to go back. thank you. i'm in for laura this week. >> i want to update you on the traffic situation on the bay bridge. we have been following this all morning. >> it started out an issue on the eastbound lanes. i do want to get to the fact that the eastbound lanes do remain act ifrively closed. it appears they have closed the lanes once again. we are not seeing any cars moving along. there is also a crash along the westbound side. this is near fremont street. two lanes are blocked. the upper deck is moving along.

the lower deck isn't moving at all. we do have our very own sky ranger to show us some of the live rangers of how bad the back up is. we haven't seen it get any better. f for a check of what's going on he is reporting for us. there it looks like it's not moving at all. we heard they closed out one lane they had initially opened up. is that true? >> yeah. good morning to you. we have been in the same spot. the traffic has not moved. i can't confirm which lanes are closed. i can tell you we still have the back up into a deadly shooting near the treasure island. you still see the cars are not moving as the investigation continues. here is the information we are getting. we know that the shooting, there were three cars involved in this. you had an suv carrying the

victims who were shot at, an unknown suspect car and sedan. we are being told you the suspect shooting at the suv killing the driver and injuring two others in that car. the driver, the suv, the car swerves and hits the sedan. the driver called 911 after the shots were fired. we are told the suspect was able to get away. police are still looking for him at this time. i want to get reaction from folks stuck on this bridge. one guy just gat off of work and ran into this. another heading to get a flight back to houston. here is what they had to say. >> i am not concerned at auchlt i'm concerned about this traffic. this is ridiculous. >> we are watching the clock.

we will start out in morgan hill at 59 degrees. it will heat up and we'll be back in the 90s. the main story will be the wade range in temperatures all across the bay area. it is 75 in oakland and 95 in antioch and san jose expect high of 90 degrees today. we'll talk about what's ahead. that's coming up in a few minutes. >> thank you very much. all new this morning we now know more about the people who died at that tragic plane crash down in southern california. >> most of them were from the east bay and all of them were connected. they crashed in santa ana down in southern california. we are live outside the real estate office where some of those victims worked together. >> reporter: good morning to you. yes. all five people on that plane including the pilot either

worked here in danville or family members of people with that company. you can take a look. they have identified all five people. you can see the photos. not seeing skt and laura shepherd. it's not clear who was bethiend controls of the cessna 414 airplane when it crashed. it nose dived and crashed onto a parked car outside of los angeles. the driver of that car was inside the store at the time and was not hurt. a witness checked on two to have the people that were partially ejected. they di not have any pulse. about two hour sboos their flair the pilot reported an emergency

shortly after receiving clearance to land at the airport. the owner had put the plane up for sale. we learned a little bit of one of the victims she was 29 years old. they say she was a delightful and positive real estate agent. they say right now his company is focused on comforting the families of those five people killed in that tragic accident. today in the bay. >> it will be a difficult coming out of that very much. thank you very much. one of the two men sentenced in a notorious thrill kill murder eight years ago is getting closer to argument for aernlly release. you might remember the murder of this young man. it was at his home in 2009. the two men that stabbed the teen arj were 15 and 16 at the

time. defense attorneys are side scything different changes as the reason to trance for one of those men back to juvenile court which may then lead to an early release. a judge will hold a hearing next month. 6:07. continuing coverage of the wild fires which are among 18 major fires burning across the state. 68 homes have been destroyed. as for the car fire, it is now 43% contained. 160,000 acres are burned. pg and e mourning the loss of one of its own workers.

he was an apprentice lineman. here he is working in the wintertime. he died on saturday trying to restore power in what is being called dangerous terrain. it's not clear how he died at this point. we know that he once lived in santa rosa. a plan to reopen other parts of the national park still on hold. they made the decision to extend the park because of the massive ferguson fire burning near there. the air quality is terrible. there was hope far reopening today. that's not going to happen. the valley has been closed to visitors for nearly two weeks now. >> right now air quality remains the issue for today especially for the inland parts of the east

closed due to the deadly shooting investigation. we are not seeing this get any better. we have seen it move for quite some time. you should avoid it. there's not something to talk about when that will reopen. as far as the eastbound side we have two lanes blocked. you can see how heavy the speed sensors are picking up delays. i want to show you this. the lower deck is not moving but the top is now moving along. capital corridor has delays. they are urging people to take bart instead. i want to show you a picture overhead using our very own sky ranger. you can see all vehicles are all the way back up there because they have that investigation going on up there. we have pete on the ground giving his latest update. you can follow him. let's get a check of the weather with kari hall. >> yeah. better news for parts of the bay

area. not so good for inland valleys. as we take a live look outside in dublin this is one of the spots we'll have to watch. temperatures go up over the next few days. we do have clear visibility now but drifts of smoke turns the sky a milky white and a grayish color. we'll still have the drifts of smoke for the north bay and east bay and you may smell some of that smoke throughout the day. in dublin a few clouds throw the 6:00 hour. at noon it is 85 degrees. continuing into the upper 80s today. look at the temperatures. it will start out in the upper 50s there and only reach about 62 to 63 degrees this afternoon. as we head to the south bay 95 in morgan hill. for parts of the east bay any

where from 95 in antioch and 75 in oakland. it is 82 in palo alto. you can see the micro climates in full effect. we head up towards santa rosa. so hot in spots. i'm also tracking hurricane hector. this is a category 4 hurricane. right now it's in the open pacific. it will be moving off to the west over the next few days. soul of the big island of hawaii it could pass by as a major hurricane. we'll turn up high waves for parts of hawaii over the next few days. we are looking at hot temperatures here, possibly dangerous heat as the high pressure kind of caps our air flow and gives us very stagnant afrmt it traps the heat and

stopped. we are seeing delays along the eastbound side. a couple of lanes may be blocked. the metering lights have been on. we do have a picture over that deadly shooting investigation using our sky ranger. you can see now judging fwi picture they are finally starting to get that traffic moving. it looks like it is moving in f for a better look. it looks better than when you were at a standstill earlier. >> yeah. you had lanes being moved out. really the traffic is pretty much the same. they are making room so the lanes can open at least for medical examiner to go through. this is on the eastbound side near the treasure island exit.

you're seeing a number of cars still stuck here. people hopping out to see what's going on. i think we can show you guys a live look from overhead from one of our live cameras. according to chp they are saying it involved three cars. an suv carrying the victims, an unknown suspect car and a sedan. the suspect shoots at the suv injuring the driver and two others. it swerves and hits the sedan which doesn't appear to be involved in the shooting. the suspect in the suspect car was able to get away and police are still looking for him. quite a mess on the eastbound side of the bay bridge following the deadly shooting. here is reaction for folks who have been stuck here for the past few hours. >> no. i'm good. i'm not concerned for my safety at all. i'm just concerned about this traffic. this is ridiculous. >> we are watching the clock. >> might have to take another -- >> might have to get on standby

about. police are investigating a shooting by officers that critically injured a machblt he refused to drop two knives on market street. officers tried to negotiation. when the man came towards them they fired nonlethal rounds that didn't work before one officer used his handgun. this powerful 7.0 earthquake. you can see the panic on the streets. it rocked the resort island. you can see bird cages swinging from the ceiling. the usgs says they took the brunt of that damage and a lot of survivors evacuated with the hope of being picked up by boats of the island. the authorities say that the number of dead is certain to

rise. friends and family are grieving the deaths of twin girls killed along with their mother in a house fire. they say this is suspicious. the fire happened early yesterday morning at a home on georgia street. they say they t 24 he 14-year-o were freshmen. friends are in shock of what happened. >> no one really hated them. everyone loved them. i really loved them too. >> an 11-year-old girl escaped and sur vooifd. a neighbor said she heard a heated argument at the house a few days ago. one of the friends said there had been tension between the girls parents. a live look in san jose. not everyone is happy about the

look at hue the rest of the bay area is doing coming up. it is 6:43 for you right now. we now know all five of those people who died in that deadly crash here in southern california. that plane took off from concord. this is the dash cam video. we want to show you the plane suddenly plunging to the ground as the pilot tried to make the emergency landing. all five are connected in some way in danville. it's not clear who was flying the twin engine when it crashed. that plane struck a parked car outside of los angeles. the driver of the car played the part in concord yesterday morning. witnesses described the chaos. >> i saw the red car. i saw the back of it. someone said my gosh, there's a

buggest are delays from the bay bridge. check this out. it is backed up all the way through kensington. it is because of a crash near fremont on the bay bridge that did close off two of those lanes. now back to the eastbound lanes. we are following that deadly shooting that lead to a multi-vehicle accident. we have our sky ranger overhead. they have confirmed they have reopened three lanes. two remain blocked as they continue their investigation there. you can see now traffic is moving. this is completely gridlocked. they would have turned their cars off as people were getting out of their vehicle. the situation has gotten much better for the eastbound lanes. let's send things over far loor look at weather. we take a live look outside.

it is nice and cool as you get this monday started. the seven day forecast coming up at the bottom of the screen. take a look at that as we talk about our commute. it will start out with upper 50s. it will heat up fast. if you're leaving a little bit later we are at 74 degrees. if you're going out for some afternoon areas it will be 92 degrees at 2:00 today. as you make your way out the door in san jose temperatures won't be as hot as morgan hill. we do have micro climates in full effect. we are seeing a wide range from temperatures. it is 69 in san francisco. 75 in oakland. it is hazy, drifts of smoke this afternoon with high of 95 degrees. so the air quality is still an issue. as you get dressed this morning an your way to work or maybe

friends are grieving the death of two girls that died in a house fire with their mother. it happened yesterday morning. sown one share third-degree video of those girls the 14-year-olds were sophomores. an 11-year-old girl escaped that fire and survivored. you might remember this young plachblt it happened at his own home in 2009 the two teenagers were 15 and 16 at the time. finally a sad report.
