extinguish the flames on the outside. he thinks a former friend started this fire. he tells me the two have been in a dispute over money he lent this other person. >> i lent him money. >> he lent you money? >> i lent him money. >> have you try today reach out to him? >> yes. he ignores me. >> so you think he is angry at you because you're asking him for the money. >> yeah. i don't know why that is. >> how much are we talking? >> over a thousand. >> what did you lend it to him for? >> he just needed some help. police say they are

investigating all leads. continues coverage after fires burning across california. the carr fire up north. the holy fire down south near los angeles and mendocino fire burning near us. this is the biggest fire in our state's history. today california leaders to come up with a plan to boost fire safety. all of this coming as the fires in mendocino and lake counties continue to break records it combined 283,000 acres are burned. as of late last night the complex fire is 30% contained. 75 homes are gone.

>> they have trying to figure out how many students and teachers may have lost their homes. we are getting a look at the devastation the car fire is leaving behind thanks to a 360 degree view that show it is charred terrain. more than 154,000 acres are scorched. it is only 47% contained. if you want to see them it's on nbc bay area.com. crews are here to try to help with the fire efforts here. they have a growing problem of their own. this is video of the holy fire we mentioned earlier. it broke out yesterday. so far more than 4,000 acres is

degrees today. we range from 73 in oakland to 97 in concord and 94 in livermore. still keeping it cool for the coast. half-moon bay a lot of low clouds. upper 80s for palo alto. san francisco 63 in the outer sunset and 69 in the mission district and upper 90s today. expect a lot of smoke to still move in this morning and also other parts reaching into the low 90s. here is an update on hurricane hector. it is out in the open pacific. we are watching this. this is going to move very close to hawaii. this is south of there. it will kick up large waves and may bring in rain bans as well for thursday as well as wednesday. wednesday and thursday time frames are watching for hawaii.

if you know someone who lives there keep an eye on that for them. we will have dangerous heat for the inland valleys. unfortunately more smoke and high levels of ozone. it will be issues if you have breathing problems through the end of the week. it gets better with san francisco in the upper 60s. any issues out there on the roads this morning? >> we were doing very well. there is an issue in the east bay. not too bad. let's get to the small issue that's causing delays. this is along southbound 80. it appear that is one of the vehicles involved lost its bumper. it is in the number two lane. it is starting to cause delays. it is starting to reflect in the east bay drive times. this is highway 84. i have seen it go from 15 to 20

are seeing accidents start to really pop up. we had a crash that had a bump in the lane that is already causing delays. we are seeing reports of another crash. we have one crash behind that. we have one up ahead. it is starting to really effect your east bay drive times. it is from 2:30 to highway 84. two accidents popped up over there. i'll have a closer look at how rough your east bay commute is coming up in a few minutes. back to you. okay. this morning drivers will have a much easier time navigating the bay bridge. just 24 hours ago we were showing you the gridlock. this morning police are looking for the person who fired the gun and create third-degree situation killing one person pete is live this morning.

what do we know at this point? >> reporter: good morning to you. no gridlock this morning on the eastbound side of the bay bridge. we know that the suspect is still on the loose. chp is looking for the suspect in all of this. the victim in all of this has been identified. the identity we are getting the 31-year-old darryl stinnette of mesquite, texas. we know that is the victim who has been identified. the suspect is still on the loose. chp is trying to track down the suspect in all of this. the description is very vague. we know it was either a silver or gray car. chp believes that the shooting appears to be targeted. that shooting that took place yesterday took place around 2:30 a.m. on the eastbound side of the bridge. officers say that the suspected

shooter drove up in either a silver or gray car. it was along a black suv and opened fire on that car. we know he died from the gunshots. two others suffered injuries as well. one of them had a gunshot wound and others suffered injuries as a result of the collision. the suv collided with other cars. no other injuries to report to the folks in those cars. if you have any information to help out with this case contact chp, today in the bay. >> all right. thank you very much. closing arguments are expected in the case of a bay area man suing manufacturers of weed culler. he is suing claiming round up ingredients gave him cancer and
