back to you. >> it is around 6:02 now. cal fire leaders are saying it may be california's worst fire season in history and we still have months to go before it is over. the three big fires on the map are the three big ones. there are more than a dozen other ones burning. we crunched the numbers and it is five times the city of oakland. the number of homes is 75. because firefighters are stretched elsewhere resources are thin. the fire is prompting voluntary

justice. it includes the wild fires burning across the state. and developing right now the search for a killer. police now believe the recent fire that killed two sisters and their mother is a homicide. pete is live where it all happened. >> reporter: this is turning into a homicide investigation. we showed you right before this report this memorial right here. it says rest in peace for the two twins that passed away adds a result of the fire. their mom passing away later at a local hospital. here is what we know, the 14-year-old twins were found dead inside of this burning home on sunday morning.

their mother died a short time later. their 11-year-old sister escaped this fire at about 2:00 a.m. sunday morning one of the twins that passed away sent this text asking if she was away and telling her she is really scared. here is what her friends are saying about this homicide investigation. >> it sickens me. >> a spokesman for police

accusing will not confirm whether it is true or if there's a suspect. we are taking you back out here live. you're seeing a few dozen flowers out here remembering the twins and the mother who passed away. police say it could be releasing more information on the investigation later this week. this is recent sentencing. faces life in prison. she sentenced next month. a jury convicted of of molesting a girl. prosecutors say he took that girl to a backyard shed and gave her marijuana and beer. that girl took the stand during his trial. lawmakers getting involved

trump's latest rounds of tariffs against that country. mr. trump says china does not treat america fairly. he hopes by adding he will convince the chinese to come to the table. the chinese are adding prices to our products. the downside is it hurts everybody. when we put tariffs on chinese goods we pay the tariff on that stuff. when we put -- they put tariffs on our stuff it hurts our manufacturing and our american farmers as well. the hope is or mr. trump's hope is we can go head to head long enough that the chinese will back down. >> thank you. more and more americans choosing not to travel to mexico. airlines may be cutting back as

>> yeah. all right. we should honor those cows with some type of crime fighting. >> yeah. >> look, i'm hungry. all right. so yeah. you get your breakfast in this morning we are going to start out with very cool temperatures but look at all of this smoke. it is hovering over the south bay. this is not clouds. this is what we could see throughout much of the morning. here is a look at the seven day forecast. it is coming up. spare the air alert has been issued. . we not only have the drifts of smoke but we have high levels of ozone. it happens when the air kind of gets trapped. it is compressed. it causes the air to sink. not only trapping the smoke but also the ozone levels.

if you breathing problems today wear your mask. children should take it easy today. here is a look at the smoky conditions. the charred hillsides there. this is part of the problem that we do have many wild fires burning near by. as we take a look at the low clouds it is also going to trap some of that smoke as well. if you can catch public transit. it will be at 59 degrees. you may need a light jacket starting out. we are going to make it up to about 73 degrees with hazy sunshine throughout the day. highs reaching into the mid-80s. it is 84 in napa and santa rosa. i have been getting pictures from all of you of what it looks like where you live. this one came from the smokey sky. you see that. i expect the sunrise looks like

it is 6:24 for you right now. we respond to to a homeowner that paid his property taxes and got hit with a late penalty. >> we turn to chris and the unknown question is how does this happen? >> when he got his property tax bill he paid it by check on time. a few weeks later he received this from the santa clara tax department. a delinquent tax due notice including an extra $195 in fines and late fees.

this quick thing that just popped up. unfortunately the south bay already had a couple of issues. chp reporting what appears to be a small fire near highway 87 at taylor street. it could be a tree that's on fire. we have also still got that crash recovery along story road and that's slowing down our south bay drive times. that one is not really effected. northbound 85 you can expect slowing until they clear out some of the smaller crashes. let's get a check of the weather. >> yeah. it's all about the smoke in the bay area. we have wild fires burning and some of the ones effecting southern california. it is down around l.a. here closer to home we have the ferguson fire and also the car fire farther to the north.

we have some slowing and working to recover along northbound 101. two lanes remain blocked and we have residual delays from an earlier crash. that lane is now open but the traffic is slow through that area. southbound 680 you're looking at about 16 minutes to highway 84 about 19 minutes. we managed to stay fairly quiet. >> can't win them all. >> yeah. >> yeah. >> some times we do. it will be a winning weekend weather. >> it will be very warm. we'll have to watch out for air quality. reaching into the low 90s. the coast a cool 68 degrees. you make plans and you may want to factor in the wild fires and

right now we have poor air quality. we take a look across the south bay. let's get our temperatures in the low 60s. we'll have smoke mixing in with the clouds. as we go through the day hazy sunshine. temperatures in the low 80s. all of our micro climates with a wide range in temperatures. we'll talk about that coming up in less than five minutes. i have good news. we have a much better commute. two earlier crashes caused slowing along 101. we have slowing in the tri-valley. i'll have details on that coming up. it is 6:43 now. we are seeing more about an oakland girl whose disappearance. this is her giving a speech. her church put it up yesterday and called her a leader and fun and sassy kid.
