they say the chief's estranged son was captured beating and robbing an elderly man. that victim was a man. he is 18 and is the second suspect in this case. both facing several charges. but those charges are not considered hate crimes. he has rebuked and apologized for his son's alleged actions. anchts crime spree is now over. police arrested adults and teenagers, four of them accused of stealing cars and snatching purses all over the city. they were busted but not before creating quite a buzz in the neighborhood. the four suspects were arrested. officers say they were try toino track them down since they started a series of crimes. that tip from a caller about a blue van going in the wrong

direction. >> when officers arrived they saw it was one of those vehicles which had been stolen today and being used for further crimes. >> we woke up this morning and a police officer is knocking on our door and told us a van had been stolen overnight and used in at least one armed robbery. that was the first we heard about it. >> while searching that van police spotted the suspects near by in a my sue -- suchlt. a homicide investigation in castro valley. it reportedly happened near highway 238 and 580 about 5:30 last night. this was video and investigators tell us one man is dead. no other information is being released right now. we are trying to continue to check up on this and see what we can find out. now to the latest out of new
