good morning and thank you for joining us. i )m marcus washington. and i )m laura garcia. toss to traffic. . good morning to you. it's hump day. i'm marcus washington. >> we have a crash out there, a deldly crash on the peninsula. i'll take you up here. the bottom of the screen, these sensors turning in towards the red zone.

right now all lanes are blocked on the approach. it issue for those that get off on city streets. we'll continue to update you on the crash there. on the other side of the bay we have seen slowing for construction around westbound 80. the bigger crash closer towards the bay bridge is the one where flares are laid out as well. two lanes including your off ramp are blocked from the westbound commute. you can see traffic is slowing right at the scene. a freeway is reopened there. we have two major issues we are today. a live look outsi skies. ollowing. we'll talk about the week ahead and the rest of the forecast coming up in a few minutes. >> all right. we'll check back with you.

thanks so much. police looking for the driver who crashed into a home last night and then took off running. h this this is a look at video. a red suv crashed into a parked car pushing that car into the house. it happened near story road in east san jose. no one in the home was hurt. developing news out of italy where an intense search is underway. rescue teams continued the search for survivors and victims this morning. at least 39 people are dead in the collapse.15eoplee when the bridge crumbled. >> officials are worried the death toll will likely rise. we report from this video capturing the horror, the moment a massive bridge collapses during a powerful storm sending cars plunging, witnesses stunned.

>> i got out of the car and i saw people running away from the bridge and some people -- there was even a guy with his face covered in blood. >> hundreds of first responders rushing to the scene. this firefighter carrying out one rescue lowering a sur vif vor down from the bridge. >> what is the danger for any potential survivors. >> as of now there's no gas leaks or anything. they are trapped in maybe confined space. >> the bridge seen here stretched over residential buildings and the water. this is how it looks, that green truck avoiding disaster by inches. as many as 38 vehicles were on the bridge which is part of the main road to france when a 260 foot span began crumbling. they are launching an investigation to find out what

sparked a disaster which for dozensov dozens of drivers came without warning. >> it is critical. rescue teams say they will continue working through the flight. officials fear the death toll may rise. nbc news, italy. >> and we have more information on the oakland police officer who was hurt in a crash. he remains in critical condition this morning. he is the son of acting oakland police captain. he graduated at the top of his class. here he is hugging his father last year. he was responding to a call of a suspicious person early monday it crashed into another car and semi truck. the crash is under investigation. it is 4:34 right now. we know how a veteran firefighter was killed. he was hit by a falling tree monday night.

your way out the door. expect the morning commute to look good and nice and cool. only upper 50s at about 7:00 and then reaching into the mid-70s today at noon. expect another nice day. we are excited for the kids in san show say heading back to school today. i know they are probably still asleep right now. if you're up early it will be at about 60 degrees heading to school. at noon they will be at 70 degrees. it will be a very comfortable first day of school. your high in san jose at 77 degrees. it is 79 in livermore. we'll be cooler than normal. as you're getting dressed this morning you might be comfortable today with light long sleeves and maybe a hat today. we will get a lot of sunshine. we'll see temperatures starting to heat up. we go from 84 today to 93 on friday. we are reaching the peak of our heat on saturday as we clear the

shelters and this will be a very hot start to the weekend. we are going to see more of that heat into early next week. san francisco will also be warming up into the low 70s by the weekend. you have that still traffic alert, right? >> yeah. overnight there was a deadly crash. sensors areou expect excr right here. if you're traveling to sfo right now it's early for any flights. we are looking for a big back up. for broadway you're packing on the traffic chgt two lanes are open and two lanes are closed. north 101 if you get off of broadway you can take old bay shore along this portion of the roadway. that's if you're heading towards the airport. you can also get there and take that surface street up. if you enter any where over you're just fine. 280 is also just fine traveling north towards san francisco.

temporary foster nelson fire charred more than 2,000 acres. one home was as many animals as possible find their forever home. >> this is really great for pets. some times it can end up helping more than just the pets. take a look at this three-year-old black lab. he was found wandering the streets. he wias adopted and is now one f the newest members of the canine comfort team. sit a summer camp for children who have a lot of family members or close friends -- who have lost their family members or close friends. all of the activities at the camp we are told the arrival of the pets is one of the most popular and wonderful and powerful things those kidsivin receiving and vice versa.
