against him. especially those involved in the russia investigation. today, there is a new development involving the first person arrested by the mueller team in the russia investigation. new overnight. up to six months in prison. that is what the special counsel is asking a judge to sentence george papadopoulos. he pleaded guilty last october to lying to investigators and has been cooperating with the russia probe. papadopoulos was part of the trump campaign foreign policy panel and claimed to know russia had dirt on hillary clinton. meanwhile, the president is unapologetic about revoking the security clearance of former cia chief john brennan. >> i like taking on voices like that. i have never respected him. i never had a lot of respect. >> reporter: the president denied trying to silence critics and claimed erahe raised brenna profile. >> i'm giving him a bigger voice.

friday -- asked by reporters friday, if a pardon is possible for paul manafort. the president declined to weigh in as the jury considers the evidence in the tax evasion and bank fraud trial. he spoke kindly of him. >> he happens to be a very good person. i think it is very sad what they have done to paul manafort. >> kelly, what is the latest with the paul manafort jury? >> reporter: well, they still have all of the power and they are working at this. 15 hours of deliberations so far. a panel of six men and six women. they have to go through 18 counts and reach unanimous verdict on each one of those. these are alleged financial crimes by paul manafort in the business dealings before the trump campaign. the jury has been at it two days now. >> thank you, kelly. a programming note. you can see former cia director

john brennan tomorrow morning on "meet the press." a woman caught on camera pushing her friend off the 60-foot bridge is facing criminal charges this morning for that push. in a moment, we will talk to the victim. jordan holgerson, to get her thoughts on the charges. first, we have the latest from nbc's steve patterson. >> reporter: good morning. holgerson crashed into the water and experienced six broken ribs and a punctured lung. now charges for the friend and why she gave the shove. this morning, 18-year-old taylor smith who pushed her friend off the 60-foot high washington state bridge is in legal jeopardy. friday, prosecutors charging smith with reckless endangerment. it is clear smith engaged in conduct which created a substantial risk of death and resulted in serious physical injury. the video horrified people. 16-year-old jordan holgerson

family, friends and strangers gathered on friday night as investigators search for reasons why a man who would commit such a horrific crime. we get more from nbc's miguel almaguer. >> reporter: outside the home where shanann watts and 3-year-old celeste and 4-year-old bella were killed, a tearful memorial. the pregnant mother had plan to reveal to friends she was expecting a little boy. niko according to family. instead, her husband, chris watts, stands accused of killing his family. >> i can't believe chris would do this. >> reporter: court documents reveal the children were found in a well. the report recommends dna swabs for the children raising the possibility they were strangled.

back now on saturday morning with the look at how one program is trying to help out in the homelessness epidemic in the country. >> nowhere is the problem worse than los angeles. there are reasons for hope this morning. a look at one group that is using music to give the homeless people of l.a.'s skid row a place to go and be heard. it is also helping lift people off the streets. in los angeles, the country's second largest city, a staggering 55,000 people are homeless. the epicenter, skid row, the highest concentration of homeless necessary in america. -- homelessness in america. in the middle of the crisis, glimmers of hope. ♪ we fall down ♪ >> nobody ever dreamed of being homeless. everybody on the streets is somebody's child. somebody's friend. they are you or more divided by

fire crews are still on the screen of a brush fire along a busy highway in the east bay. the fire ignited around 7:00 last night along highway 4 in martinez and ignited in several places along the highway. it moved up a hill threatening homes near alhambra way. this is what county fire officials told us about the cause of the fire. >> we found some evidence it may have been a car. we have fire investigators looking into the cause of the fire. >> i came out front and looked and saw an orange glow of fire in the sky and a ton of smoke. it was a little too close to home. >> crews were able to keep the fire to 30 acres. all right. take a look at this. a real-life version of the movie "speed." a bay area man used a stolen police cruiser to steal a bus in sacramento. it started with a car crash on highway 50. when the chp responded one driver took off in a patrol car, drove to sacramento state and
