good morning and thank you for joining us. i )m laura garcia. and i )m marcus washington. updating a crash in san jose... it has been so nice to have cooler temperatures in the south bay where it got pretty hot over the weekend. as we take a live look outside in san jose we are seeing clouds starting to roll in. the clouds will hover far little while longer for at least 7:00. it is go into the rest of the week coming up. you an update ton san jose crash. >> that's right.

we talked about 101. a little fender bender on the shoulder. there is also a light pole that's down near it. we may have a lane closure to tell you about. i'll let you know if it is a big deal. on the shoulder from the earlier crash. everything looks great as far as speed sensors go. a little slowing. typical for sensors coming off of 205. a disabled vehicle may be there just slowing towards the bay bridge toll plaza. no mass transit delays reporting. back to you. >> all right. thanks. it could be a pivotal day. prosecutors are coming together in southern california. the district attorney will also be there. today bob is live with the

possible bay area charges the suspect could face. good morning. >> good morning. the district attorney's office has not commented yet but they believe deanglo is also the east area rapist. he allegedly rain ra-- raped eit women. this is in addition to more than 40 other women state wide. he has been charged with 13 murders across the state. while we know the statute of limitations there is no for kidnapping and torture. it is possible they could bring up the rape charges. police used dna evidence to find

obtained body cam video and the possibility secret recordings may have been routine. prosecutors have thrown the case out tied to that claim. sheriffs office is opening an investigation and a hearing expected for friday. it is a felony to record attorney/client conversations. president trump is saying he can run the russia investigation if he wants to. the president making that comment in a new interview. here is the white house correspondent. >> he said he was staying out of it but he didn't have to. he thought he would run it if he wanted to. >> that interview follows a report that the white house council has given 30 hours of interviews to special prosecutor robert mueller's team.

he also said he allowed him to speak with investigators because he had nothing to hide. here is what former white house council had to say about that. >> i think it is frankly silly. it wasn't a choice here. >> the president talked about sitting down with mueller. we'll have more in the checks and balance section. they will discuss possible ordnances to regulate gun storage and sales. tonight's meeting at 7:00. bringing friday night lights to one bay area high school. only a few high schools don't have stadium lights. it could change soon.

it is in mountain vie and l los altos. now the teams want permanent stadium lights. some argue they don't want to add noise from the fans and pa systems. some say the lights would help soccer teams in the winter because there is limited practice time. >> every kid when they become varsity players deserve to have the right to play under the lights at their home field when ever that is, friday nights. >> they are considering installing lead lights at both locations. back to school time. making sure every child can get to school. the county offering free bus passes to students in grades 6 through 12. parents interested should apply

>> they are also running flights out of oakland. new video this morning, bay area reenforcements heading to the front lines of the mendocino complex fire. it is now 79% complained. new evacuation orders. the fire burned more than 400,000 acres. that's the largest in california history. air quality not so great. today is not a spare the air day. the airport is extending the advise i ha advisory for all of the smoke. if it seems to smoky avoid outdoor activities. smoke coming all the way from washington state and even canada into the bay area today.

we just saw that nearly 2 million acres have been scorched due to wild fires this season. we will have the hazy skies. it continues as we look at what one computer model is showing. you can see the wind pattern of that smoke coming from seattle area over the pacific ocean into the north bay and that's where our air quality will be the worst today. as we get a closer look it will be the thicker smoke. as you make your way out the door this morning our temperatures in pleasant hill heading to the bart station will be in the upper 50s and temperatures at noon feeling comfortable at about 70 degrees. we'll talk more about the air quality and cooler temperatures across the bay area. we have a look at minor issues, right? >> yeah. not really effecting your drive. the crash in san jose still

keep interest rates low. he is correct. it would keep the economy going but at a cost. the president not shy speaking out loud saying he wants the federal open markets committee to stop raising rates. the problem is inflation. it is the second most important financial factor in your life. first there's employment but inflation is number two. raising rates keeps the committee from overheating. a new report says the russians are at it again this time not just hacking canada accounts reporting, so you think you're at the right political site but you're not. in an interesting twist some of those flights attacks include conservative republican sites, think tanks that impose president trump it traced the

attacks back to the same group. keep in mind, while democrats have been much more vocal about russian hacking the russians don't have a side. if they want to attack republicans they will do it. we are all vulnerable. we all need to fight back. >> exactly. a push to make governor jerry brown. they are hold a news conference later this morning. they claim oil and gas production puts peoples health at risk. it is time to bless the grapes. a rabbi, priest and pastor to bless the grapes.

santa rosa getting a breeze and we'll be at 76. if school hasn't started yet santa cruz will be cool. we won't see the sunshine until 1:00 or 2:00 in the afternoon. temperatures reach into the low to mid-80s. we'll keep the sunshine and still stay in this weather pattern through the rest of the week. keeps it foggy for most of the day. today our high 64 degrees. heading over you have been tracking what's been happening on the roads. >> no major issues. we are looking at a pleasant start to your drive. you can see the sensors at the speed limit. we expect that every day. we are looking at a smooth drive at 580 westbound. reports of a tire and lanes. chp may do a traffic break.

the legislature said yes. we still love to know what you think. i'm in morgan hill this morning. today in the bay. >> thanks a lot. all right. happening today palo alto discussing the memorandum of understanding with police on how to handle sexual violence reports. the new agreement is the latest effort to improve coordination as far as the ungoing going response. this new agreement clarifies the expected policies and communication with the the police department responds to student based accusations. new revelations in the case of a colorado father accused of murdering his pregnant wife and two young daughters. it comes on the arrest and interrogation of chris watts.

according to the affidavit he asked his wife for a separation. he claimed she killed their kids and he killed her in a fit of rage. prosecutors say they are not buying any of it. neighbors are trying to grasp the chain of events. >> it is hard to imagine and how to wrap your mind about how someone could do something. it is horrific. he could face the death penalty if convicted. learning more about the man hit and killed. apparently she told police she had no idea the machb's body was under her car the entire time. the victim is the 28-year-old driver was reportedly driving on a suspended license and had an unrelated outstantding warrant.

she is not being charged in this case and police say she is cooperating with the investigation. first responders will remember those who lost their lives on the job. they will take a casket from concord to walnut creek. it is to raise awareness tapd slowing down, mover over law. we have a look at highway 101. the golden state has some of the worst drivers in the nation. california tied for third place behind mississippi and tennessee. the web site looked at dui's and california's being ranked 12th in that category. it ranked 11th for drivers without insurance. we finished high in the traffic and speeding category.

companies of simply dumping scooters across certain cities. to get a look you can follow that story coming up right after today in the bay. it is a quarter to 6:00 right now. bart is not seeing a rise in ridership. the exact opposite is happening. ridership is down more than 6% since 2016. that year bart saw a peak in ridership. a 6% drop means 8 million fewer rides and a loss of $42 million. bart says trips to san francisco is at full capacity. bart is losing riders on the nights and weekends. bart acknowledges crime could be a major factor. updating the noise monitoring system. the airport has 29 monitors and four portable units.

you can see here the visibility. check out the air quality today? it will be pretty bad not only for inland parts of the east bay but all around the bay area. it will continue until wild fire. temperatures will be in the upper 50s and we'll see skies clearing right at about 8:00. highs head up into the 70s today. it will be much more comfortable. san jose reaching 80 degrees and 76 in palo alto. it is 78 in napa. you're starting out and looking out the window and standing in fr front of the closet. here is an update on hurricane lane. it is a category 4 hurricane.
