actual threat. student safety is not at risk but that is not stopping concerned parents or demanding the district get involved. tomorrow the accused golden state killer will return facing a slew of new charges. they are coming together to prosecute deanglo. he is accused of 13 murders along with 18 more charges of burglary and kidnapping. the trial will take place. in oakland the man charged with stabbing two sisters and killing one of them is kpcexpec in court. he attacked and killed wilson. she also charged with attempted murder. wilson's sister was murdered in the stabbing. 4:35.

happening this morning the first day of school will be a bit rough for some in san jose. teachers will be protesting before and after classes today. they are angry over stalled contract talks. that issue isn't so much over salary. evergreen is some of the highest paid teachers in the santa clara county area. that fight is over health care. the school district pays 100%over it but says it can't sustain that and wants teachers to pay some of it. is the end of net neutral si putting public safety at risk? the county council yesterday filed a brief far lawsuit seeking to restore net neutrality. it includes testimony from the fire chief. he sites the mendocino fire saying data collection rates slowed the department's

1931 -- is closing its doors. orchard supply -- is closing all of its 99 stores nationwide -- by an iconic hardware store is closing its doors. orchard supplies closing all of its 99 stores nationwide by the end of the year. orchard's parent company, lowe's is pulling the plug. 4,000 employees work there. >> they broke the news last night and explain what happened. >> the end of its era. they closing all of the 99 stores by year's end. more than 40 in the bay area. for many it was their local stop for tools and landscaping needs. my parents own a home, anything they needed for a house.

>> yeah. we are needing a jacket heading out the door. for some people you might wear it all day long. for the coast and parts of the bay our weather is a little bit cooler. a look at our air quality today. it will improve just a bit for parts of the south bay and inland parts of the east bay. drifts of smoke for the north bay. let's get you out the door and head to the bart station with temperatures in the low 60s this morning. it will be mostly cloudy around oakland not only for the morning hours but they could linger in with a high of 68 degrees. it is 74 in palo alto. normally we are in the low 80s. it will be a little bit cooler than normal. if you're getting dressed make sure you're wearing the jacket once again. you could be comfortable wearing pants as well. let's talk about an update on

hurricane lane. this is a category 5 hurricane. the winds at 160 miles per hour. here is hawaii right here. as we go into the next couple of days the track has shifted. it looks like it could effect hawaii with torrential amount of rainfall. we'll have an update on this and more. as we bring it back home we are going to be in the low 80s for the next couple of days. really nice temperatures and only warming up just a bit for the weekend, looking nice into early next week. clouds and fog may linger for much of the day. we'll reach 65 today. mike, you're getting more about a traffic break. >> right. by the time you get out it may in fact be clear. we are looking at a clear drive along the peninsula and east bay as well.

it is over here on eastbound highway 4. we are hearing word of a traffic break. there was a car stuck in the middle lane there. they want to clear that safely. they will slow it down here. we don't see any sense of change. it may be over in a coupleov of minutes. a little slowing. you can see the little bits of red and orange. it is clear and an easy drive towards the dublin interchange. a math drive just 14 minutes. the fast track big individual. good stuff for your early ride. >> thanks, mike. it is 4:49 right now. police want to upgrade and expand the networks of cameras throughout the east bay city in the name of safety. you can tell the department how you feel about it.
