with what's really a chilling case out there. police have a suspect so far. they say this ordeal will haunt them forever. >> that's right. good morning to you. it has become quite an issue for the ride sharing base company. this incident taking place in the sacramento area. they did speak out to our nbc affiliate in sacramento. they say they were on their way home this summer when they ordered an uber. they say the driver, they say he wasn't talking about that in the beginning of that drive but eventually made things very uncomfortable. once they passed their exit they gran to fear for their worst and were able to get out of that uber unharmed.

shapes. >> as a mom of toddlers i have animal cracker all around. let's get a look at your start this morning as you make breakfast and get animal crackers this morning we are seeing clouds rolling across san francisco this morning and for much of the bay area as you get ready head out. temperatures in the low 60s right now. in livermore you step out the door to 61 degrees. as we look at our day temperature trend for concord we'll be at 63 degrees at 9:00 and going from the low 60s to the upper 70s you'll really enjoy it today. it will be partly cloudy at times. as we look at our forecast maybe you're heading here. we'll see clouds rolling by until about 7:00 and then after that skies clear. a look at our south bay high

temperatures for today. it is 75 here. it will be really nice with winds coming in from the northwest. san francisco 65 in the mission district and 76 here. our seven day forecast keeps it in the low 80s for the next couple of days. if you enjoyed yesterday i want a little more sunshine. we will have clouds for much of the day. we will get afternoon sun. heading into early next week a little bit cooler. san francisco holding steady with clouds and fog and highs reaching into the mid-60s. now you a new crash from the bay bridge? >> yeah. we may have a couple of things going on. i have been adjusting things right here at the curve. i saw bunch of flashing lights. they started to push their way

through the crowd. the first crash wasn't the source of the back up. i have seen a coupleov of sets moving over. they cleared over towards the treasure island area. chp report says whatever crash is going on they had possibly four involved. they are trying to clear all of them off. it is probably the source of the big back up right now. traffic looks like it is almost stopped on the span. there you go. metering lights turned on. i have seen the fast track lanes really pack in. we have an early problem at the bay bridge. this back up has started about 10 to 15 minutes. it could ripple out. you may see more traffic. some may want to hear about this. it is westbound 580. it is moving smoothly there. this is also clear as your

twice - a spirit air plane - had fuel spilling out onto the tarmac. take a look at this video. this was late yesterday afternoon - everyone on the plane - bound for minneapolis- was taken off as the plane was checked. the later in the night - passengers were loaded back on - and while taxing - fuel started leaking again! needles to say -that flight >> look at that.

setting. it is a new strategy. they released a statement saying in part safe injection sites save lives by connecting people to life saving services. i'm committed to opening one of these sites no matter what it takes. that bill is headed to the governor's desk now. a possible solution to the epipen shortage. they are extending the expiration date by four months. it doesn't apply to epipen junior for kids between 33 and 66 pounds. the agency says it is allowing the additional four months based on the data from the jobs maker. now t today show sitting down with serena williams. here is a little preview.

minutes early. now, the crash has reportedly cleared from the area. you can now see that. look at that. a steady stream of taillights. this is still very slow heading towards the tunnel. it is cleared over the last seven minutes. breaking news overnight over the coast of oregon a 6.2 magnitude earthquake strikes west of eugene in the ocean. it happened around 2:30. here is a look at what the earthquake looked like. you can look there. we have been checking with officials and no reports of any

damage. many people are saying they didn't even feel it. finally answers for the family of a young woman born in the east bay. her body found in a corn field. today the man authorities say killed mollie tibbetts will face a judge. a heated debate over immigration. today in the bay chris sanchez cracking all of that. a family has a new response this morning. >> how do you respond to such a promising life cut short so tragically? friends and family are thinking about mollie and her kindness this afternoon will appear in court for the firgs time.

overturn net neutrality. it allows internet service providers to slow or block data speeds. the chief alleged they slowed the plan down to the normal speed which he says made it nearly impossible for firefighters to communicate using apps like google docs. even though they have an unlimited data plan they slowed the speeds once it went over a certain amount. they have e-mail that show they offered to restore if the department would agree to a $99 a month plan. it would be three times the current amount. in a statement released verizon admits it made a mistake. i'm reading in part from that statement. regardless of plan we have a practice to remove data speed

restrictions when contacted in emergency situations. in this situation we should have lifted the speed situation when a customer reached out to us. we are reviewing the situation and we'll fix any issues going forward. verizon added the situation has nothing to do with current proceedings in the case. today in the bay. >> interesting. thanks. 5:37 for you right now. tomorrow the golden state killer will face a slew of new charges. six district attorneys are coming together to prosecute 72-year-old joseph deanglo. he is accused of 13 murders along with 18 more charges. the trial will take place in sacramento county. this case now includes four attacks in the east bay. happening today in oakland a man charged with stabbing two

sisters and killing one of them is expected in court. she being charged with murder. they say he attacked and killed wilson last month. they approved the first phase. it will bring it between market and the board agreed to use the lanes once they are operational. that project will not be completed until 2021 at the earliest. >> always watching through here. we are looking at slowing into the city. the bad news first. there was a sig alert.

we get a look at a saturday forecast. our weather will be beautiful. you may wrap up the weekend on sunday with the pride festival. it is starting at 10:00 sunday morning. we'll be at 64 degrees. as the festival continues throughout the day it will be in the mid-70s. by sunday 78 degrees. if you're heading out of town we'll be in the upper 70s there and mostly sunny skies all weekend long. if you want to relax and go to restaurants and shopping it will be also very comfortable c. highs reaching into the low to mid-70s with sunshine all weekend long.

for san jose schools. teachers will be protesting before and after classes today. they are angry over stalled contract talk. the issue isn't so much about salary. evergreen has some of the highest teacher salaries. the fight is over health care. the school district right now pays 100% of it. it can't sustain that and wants teachers to pick up some of the costs. concord leaders talking about the long-term conversion. thousands of new homes may be built on that property along with commercial and recreational space. just yesterday a developers group reportedly sued to slow the conversion. city planners tell the east bay times despite the legal threat it still is all systems go. police want to upgrade and

size sore are all facing jail time. the president was in west virginia last night at a rally. didn't mention the two latest conventions though he did once again call the russian investigation a witch hunt. now the cohen case not related to russia that we know. cohen pleaded guilty to a lot of thins. it is cohen's testimony in open court. he was directed by donald trump to violate campaign law. now technically he wasn't named by name. the words were a candidate for federal office who later became president. we get so overwhelmed coming out of washington this is enormous. the president has been accused of a federal crime. almost lost in all of this is an indictment against a california congressman. he represents the san diego
