smokey skies across the bay area for another day. it is finally friday, which is fantastic. let's take a live look outside this morning. there is smokey skies across the area for today. a health alert we need to know about. i want to say good morning to you. thanks for joining us. >> i'm marcus washington. >> air quality alert >> yes. spare the air alert day. we have hazy skies today. still unhealthy air quality as you get ready to head out.

temperatures in the low 60s with mostly cloudy skies. we'll see the haze linger as temperatures head into the 60s. this is a look at the map. air quality for yesterday evening. you can see all of the red. that's where we have the thickest smoke moving in. this is farther to the south. as we go through today we should see improvement. i'll continue to monitor that as we head throughout the weekend as well. we might get you out the door with a look at the commute. >> the first one is the bay bridge. you can notice a beautiful view. no problems slowing. you do see low clouds lit up. you can see the san francisco side. we'll check in and we'll see how things are going. so far problems. a beautiful view of this area right here. you are losing sight of that.

as we look at dublin this morning we are going to see hazy conditions. still moderate air quality. it will be a little bit worse this morning and gradually improving going into the afternoon. you need to limit your time out there. maybe have recess inside today. we are starting out with temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s. with it being s alert day reduce the ozone levels. as you make your way through we will see mostly cloudy skies throughout the morning and then low 60s. we'll see skies clear. temperatures will be slow to warm up. heading into the upper 70s in the south bay in downtown san jose. it will be a touch warmer in gilroy and 78 in danville. oakland 68 degrees. fremont 77. we'll be up to 68 in san mateo.

bart reporting 28 trains and no delays on the system. remember, this weekend they are doing track work in oakland. go to check out the information about the weekend track work. they are having it again labor day. we'll send it back to you. it is possible the city may have the long discussed railroad track separation finished by the year 2029. even that city leaders admit is an ambitious time line. they held a new informational meeting to separate the track improve safety and traffic flow. it could take five more years to reach. san mateo leaders trying to come up with a fix that will likely be pricey. reporting horns cmon across the

stretch. it is in parts and drivers and walkers and cyclists. city leaders want to limit the noise. one costly option would be grade separation. cheaper possibility would be a gate system to designate quiet zones. even that would cost around $10 million. i want you to listen up if you have children that go to some of those charter schools. a ban would bill for profit companies from running the schools. i show add publicly traded company ran schools in california where fewer than half graduated high school in 2016. that company forced to collect tax dollars and bills sitting on the governor's desk right coming up next, nbc baa
