>> yeah. that's right. if this gets final approval from jerry brown it will be the first of its kind in the united states. what will happen later this morning is the mayor will take a tour of what's being called the model site. it has been the heart of where you see a lot of drug use taking place here. let's talk about how these safe injection sites will work. we are talking about a three year pilot program. it will have trained medical staff and medical clinic on-site with services for the folks inside. a 2007 task force was lead in 2017 and said that the safe injection sites would save the city $3.5 million in health care costs. as far as approval for this program say semibli bill 186 did pass earlier this week.

they approved of the pilot program. it needs final approval. that's sitting on his desk as we speak. it is causing a lot of controversy. there is plenty of opposition including one from deputy attorney general rob rosen stein who said that the safe injection sites he claims that they pose a public safety risk. it could potentially drag down the community bringing drug dealers to that kplunty. -- community. >> all right. we'll continue to follow. thank you. 5:03 right now. we are expecting to learn more about a man arrested in a cold case on the peninsula. authorities tracked down shannon fox. he is wanted in connection with the 2009 hit-and-run. police haven't said where he was found but we know he was being

100 to 200 people. even if you don't live in the kplunty you may have heard of back and forth between the superintendent and some members of the school board that wanted her gone. it is to manage construction voted by voter approved funds. a spokesperson with the community group tells me the goal is to create space for community to meet, build trust and confidence and outline priorities. our community want to focus on bringing more accountability into next year's leadership. the community forum is tonight from 6:00 to 8:00. i'll tweet that information out

comes as we mark the 13th anniversary of hurricane ka treen f -- katrina. it devastated many communities on the gulf coast. the city took a major hit. some parts are still recovering. right now a remembrance a memorial still underway for the queen of soul. thousands of fans continue to flock to the area to say their good-byes to aretha franklin. she is dressed in creme son dress and shoes to signify her membership. the sacramento woman is in detroit honoring franklin's life. >> it shows you how much of a humanitarian she really was. she cared for the people.

and so the people are here to say thank you. >> a private funeral for franklin will be held on friday. it is 5:36 right now. shaping downtown san jose. it holds the monthly meeting today. in january council members created the station area advisory group. it is providing input to bring a massive google campus to downtown san jose. they looked to turning it into a major transit hub. oakland raiders are stepping up. they have come to the rescue for the oakland schools facing drastic cuts for the programs. you may have heard about this, the district cutting up to ten. the raiders organization announcing a $250,000 donation. others have also been made. the district has not said if they reach the amount need today save all of the sports.

san francisco with a beautiful skyline. i do want to give you an idea what we can expect. it has kind of a satellite picking up. it looks to be spots along the coastline. it will be clearing out very nicely by about 12:00 especially for inland areas. because we have a weak trough that's what's been keeping our temperatures about 10 degrees below seasonal. it will be slightly warmer today. i do mean 2 to 4 degrees in some spots. san jose no major changes there. east san jose 80 degrees. it will be warmer with a high of about 70 in concord. athro we'll be heading into the city. temperatures climbing into the mid-to upper 60s. the mission district at 65 and for the north bay 83 degrees

expected. let me give you a peek at the next seven days. for the next two days we will keep that trough that will keep us cool. as we head into next week it will warm us right back up. it is really all for the next seven days. get ready for the heat. as far as the high pressure that will be building in, what it is going to do is warm us up into the upper 60s for san francisco. overnight lows will remain very similar into the top 50s. it will be way more noticeable. the reason is we haven't really seenfully upper 80s or 90s. we are inching our way into fall. it is warming back up through

september. it is north 101 through old oakland road. it moves nice and smooth and smoother still after two crashes cleared on the approach for north 238. we have all lanes cleared. more traffic heading down into hayward. nothing as far as any problems for the san mateo bridge. we talked about 680 was nicely at speed and looking at more traffic coming through. that's for 84. yesterday had slowing today. today we are also looking at the bay bridge. the top number still 17 minutes from highway 4 to the back up at the bay bridge toll plaza.

operating without a valid permit. the chp extended it two months earlier far string of safety problems including hiring unlicensed drivers and towing cars without safety restraints. they have filed a lawsuit against the tow company and insurance carrier that hired it. state farm of negligence despite the spotty safety record. state farm said while we do not excellent on pending litigation state farm does not have direct relationships including irvine towing. they did not respond to our request for comments. the chp inspected in oakland and gave it an unsats factory rating. the company has 90 days. for now it is still towing.
