because of the em my emmys. the woman accusing the judge of sexual assault will get her chance to testify. >> the judge saying these allegations are false and saying he wants to testify too. the senate judiciary committee announced hearing a week from today so they can both make their case. president trump is defending his nominee but concedes the new claim should be ard ddressed. >> this is something that should have been brought up long before this. >> it's so important we have testimony under oath with a lot of questions for the both of them. >> the vote is still scheduled for thursday but one senator says a scramble is under away to arrange another hearing. >> this local professor could change the course of the supreme court nomination.

>> reporter: she works here and works at stanford. she is also receiving e-mail threats. she lives in the quiet neighborhood that's not so quiet n anymore. she claims that brett kavanaugh sexually assaulted her during a party when they were teenagers. >> she considers this an attempted right. she believes if it were not pr the severe intoxication, she would have been raped. >> reporter: he released a statement calling it a completely false allegation

adding he has never done anything like what the accusing described. she's a psychology professor here at palo alto university. she also teaches at stanford use. colleagues describe her as dedicated. >> she has the riepgt ght to ter story. what to her matters. >> our support for her is categorical and unequivocal. we standby her. we believe her. >> reporter: more than 200 alumni from ford's maryland high school issued this open letter of support. critics continue to question the timing of the allegation. ford's attorney says her client wants the truth to come out. >> this is not a politically

minutes. the aftermath of hurricane florence is still taking its toll and the worst may still be ahead. the latest victim, a 1-year-old swept from his mother's arms by the flood waters. more than half million homes and businesses are without power. dams and levees are showing signs of distress. landslides also a big concern. >> first responders have rescued over 300. a notable decision conservative activists in danger of their lives had their lawsuit thrown out of a federal court. they claim hthey were beaten by mass activists.

the judge said there was not enough evidence to support that claim. a driver hit a student as she was walking to school today. it happened around 7:45 this morning. investigators say the girl and her younger sister was in the crosswalk and that's when the driver hit the girl. the driver is cooperating and doesn't appear the driver was distracted, speeding or under the influence. the girl's grandmother says dro drivers need to pay close attention. >> be careful because our kids are out there. it would be your children. >> the girl is in critical condition. a bay area reporter is taking a drastic step in dealing with our housing crisis.

a permanent road trip. she plans to live out of this van. the 22 foot custom ford sprints cost about 90,000 bucks. it arrived at her home today. >> for me to achieve this van and complete independence, i just get upset every time i talk about it. it's great. it's like dream come true. >> a lot of people are doing this. the plan is to travel and rent space to park from time to time. our roberter robert honda got a look at the van. the county of santa clara is putting pressure on san jose to help house a homeless encampment. later today county leaders called for a special meeting. they want to ask city leaders to

do it, too. activitists say pennsylvania )s recent grand juy investigation set a powerful . they say they found the map and now they want california to do it as well. they say it set a powerful example. in sacramento they demanded california convene its own grand jury to investigate the sex abuse inside of the catholic church. members of the snap gathered outside the attorney general's office. you can see them there. they point to probes in other states that found a number of abusive priests can run as high as 8 to 10%. >> we have a thousands survivors that we know about in california. based on numbers we see out of pennsylvania, we expect if a civil grand jury is convened at a time wide, 10 to 12,000 stories of child abuse in this state.

it's happening again in oakland. the debate of a child at the hospital. the family was told he would be taken off life support at 1:00 p.m. today. the family said that he refuse to let that happen. the hospital says it's giving the family more time. damien. >> reporter: that's right. dozens of family and friends were out here. let him live. in fact, a couple of friends and family members are still out here holding vigil outside the hospital steps. mom and dad are here going in and out of the hospital. at 1:00 the hospital deadline came and went. tonight kingston remains in a

coma and the debate rages on about when to declare someone dead. they chanted in front of the children hospital's in oakland. their fight is for this boy, 6-month-old kingston holmes. he was first brought to the hospital with cardiac arrest. he was transferred to children's hospital where he's remained in a hospital for the last month. >> this is one of the most devastating things that i've ever been through. >> reporter: his parents say the hospital told them they would remove him from life support this afternoon. in statement, the hospital said it can't comment on the case but they say no action will be taken today. >> we're waiting on kingston to prove them wrong. >> reporter: they say he's not brain dead and deserves the chance to fight. >> he's moving. he's wiggling his toes. his feet as well as his hands. >> reporter: some say the case

is reminiscent. her family was ultimately allowed to move her to another facility where she died several years later. tonight king stston's family is asking the hospital to let him live. the family plans to be out here for the foreseeable future. it's unclear how long the hospital intents to keep kingston on life support. they hope the fight for his life continues. >> a very difficult fight. thank you. a big development in the ongoing feud of family own ferry service and the state of california. the angel island ferry has run boats for 60 years now. the company can't afford to renew it. the state says the docks need to

low 50s. tomorrow likely the coolest day for the rest of the week. the dry valley up towards pittsburpit pittsbu pittsburg. numbers in the mid-70s. upper 60s to low 70s around the peninsula. highs in the 60s. we'll see the numbers in the 60s again tomorrow. mid to upper 70s around the north bay before things have change up. high pressure building back and watch spike in temperatures in the seven-day forecast for inland spots. similar spread for san jose. those temperatures spike by 15 degrees thursday into friday. after that, we begin to see some changes. cooler system comes on in which is bringing chance of seeing a few sprinkles. we're going all the way out to about this time next week. could see a slight chance of a few sprinkles for parts of the bay area mainly up under north bay.
