today in santa rosa. san jose 88 and 71 in san francisco. we'll talk about the weekend coming up in a few minutes and mike, a little slowing in hayward. >> some folks are getting to their weekend, that would be the weekend overnight road crews are in hayward. anything that stands out other than green a little blip for the cannon in livermore. we have this grinding and paving work southbound 880, still shows a slower drive as you head down past highway 92, getting down to about tennison, that's the slow zone and it should pick up over the next few minutes. the northbound side already picked uphe road crew. coming into chp a number of calls around the oak land zoo, reports of a fire in the area. now that's been headed off so oakland fire our news desk is ou know if any els is reported. so far no big deals, just the couple of calls that came in. we're going to traing that down.

looking at san jose an easy flow of traffic, light volume 101 at 680 been back to you. >> thanks, mike, just shy of 4:32. barth will show evidence pushing back on a report that b.a.r.t. tarkts african americans rider who fail to pay the fare to ride b.a.r.t. the tranceisity agency says that report doesn't give the full picture. b.a.r.t. issued tickets with $75 fines for adults and $55 fines for juveniles who evade fairs. "the mercury news" says during a two-week period in july african-american riders received 41% of tickets issued, that's high, considering african-americans make up just 12% of riders. b.a.r.t. tells us that report only covers a small sample size and that it will post the full numbers online. b.a.r.t. police also will report all of that data at their next board meeting thursday september investigation but not for money. the

california lottery sunday it is reviewing an alleged misconduct case after to the governor and included photos put h woman's shirt. according to the letter writer, it happened at a piano bar while lottery employees were on a work-related trip. some employees are now demanding senior department executives resign. google has a warning for specific group of people, watch your email accounts. those personal ones. the internet giant says that foreign governments are trying to hack the accounts of u.s. senators and their aides and they're likely trying to sell passwords. oregon senator ron widen sent a letter notifying everyone personal email accounts were targeted and the hackers may have started more than a year ago. google representatives also say there's a chance it may be a false alarm. they are back home in the bay area, from the front lines of disaster, local rescue crews dispatched to the carolinas to

help in the aftermath of hurricane florence returned to the airport last night and bring some dramatic stories. "today in the bay's" cheryl hurd has their welcome home from oakland. >> the hardest thing was seeing people's lives disrupted. >> reporter: jason fuller says helping people in newburn, north carolina, deal with the wrath of hurricane florence is what they are trained to do. >> we were in waist-deep water talking around with rain coming up from the bottom, rain coming at 40 miles an hour. >> reporter: and at the height of the storm, winds exceeded 90 miles per hour. dozens of people had been killed. the cleanup only beginning. now, two teams from alameda county's search and rescue are back in the area,his group water. amongst that stuff you have to try to figure out a way to get it done. >> reporter: they did their part bringing in nine vehneoats from that region. >> for this deployment, fema

hundreds of people dressed in white gathered yesterday at san juan historic fort to remember the thousands who died in the aftermath of maria. while the u.s. government has invested billions of dollars to help clean up and repair puerto rico, much work remains. >> 4:36. new homes are coming to the east bay. concord just approved plans for an upscale apartment complex that includes 200 unit answer retail. this is what the complex will look like. the proposed location is on grant street. this is near the concord b.a.r.t. station. that project is set to break ground next summer and readyy 2021. well, anyone planning to drive through downtown s using their bike or maybe their scooter. san jose's third annual viv viva kayei will close major streets as scooter answer bikds take over. the event is not a race but more of a way to get out and meet your neighbors. electric scooters are banned.

good morning. i'm courtney reagan at cnbc global headquarters. wall street is set to open higher this friday morning after a record day yesterday. dow and s&p saw fresh all-time highs during the trading day and the dow notched record lows. financial sectorss track for the ta morning. fda chief scott gottlieb saying the agency could fast-track the review process for ecigarettes, features to curb use by kids. they decried the agency's last week to submit details plan how to prevent teens from using their products with gottlieb saying teen use has reached "epidemic methods." it include bluetooth features that disable the cigarettes near schools. facebook is getting less

plastic straw california will soon be the first state in the country to limit plastic straws. yesterday governor brown signed a bill which prevents dine-in strauts from automatically asking plastic straws. instead customers have to ask one. that law takes effect next year. >> before you know it we'll be paying ten cents a straw. >> yes. >> and we need straws. it is so hot outside.

i had my ice water and my straw yesterday. >> nice coffee day today. >> ice coffee for sure. >> it's going to be hot. >> fall flavors but it's hot. >> this is the last full day of summer. here is a live look outside san francisco if you're headed out of town for the weekend everything is looking good. at least we don't have to worry about visibility issues at the airport this morning. the seven-day forecast is already up at the bottom of the screen, as you come over and take a look at that, you'll see it's going to still be hot, heading into the early next week. our temperatures this morning right now all over the place, so we're at 46 in half moon bay. 50 in santa rosa. it's 63 in hose and 59 in morgan hill so just depends on where you are. if you're in dublin this morning, we will have a milder start, at 61 degrees. noon 84, and our temperatures continue to climb from there, heading up to the upper 80s today. the south bay will have another hot day especially in the south

county with our highs back in the low 90s, but just coming down a couple of degrees from yesterday. yesterday was the peak of the heat so coming out of the mid to upper 90s to lower 90s today. still pretty hot, and our winds coming in from the west at about 20 12 mil 12 miles per hour so the slight shift in the wind will bring down temperatures for the valleys. as we look at san mateo up to 78 degrees for tomorrow. for today up to 70 on and the88 novato today. i was thinking about the hot weather, and just wearing a sleeveless shirt but you still need a jacket for those early hours, so a jacket and a summer dress will be comfortable for today. and if you don't have plans for tomorrow, you can come out and meet me and storm ranger at the disaster preparedness day in san mateo. it's going to be really nice out there with highs reaching into the mid-70s. i've got the details on facebook and i'll post it on twitter as well. here is a look at our seven-day

forecast. fall begins tomorrow morning at 6:54 in the morning and our highs will reach into the upper 80s. we've got some 90s in the forecast next week, and then looking at some 60s for san francisco for the weekend, but back in the 70s next week. mike, is it still moving slowly through hayward? >> usually folks want to get to their weekend early. this road crew sticking around a little bit late all over the bay, we see green except for right there. that's the one that's most pronounced southbound 880. we have the grinding and paving work. over the last three minutes i've seen things change, things slowing south of 92, started to clear up and more focus flowing as you're approaching the area, usually that means they're starting to back those crews up and clear the cones in the reverse direction. so that's probably what's going on but so far chp has that on the grid. slowing from 238 toward the san mateo bridge, everything else moves smoothly. cocoa county getting toward the bay bridge no real problems. the bay bridge has folks waiting

for the cash lanes on either side of the fast track lanes for the next couple minutes until they open the cash lanes that should happen just before 5:00 and a little build, how big the volume is but so far the maze looking friday light as usual. no delays for any of the systems. the note for b.a.r.t. this weekend, this is the last weekend for the scheduled closheur you have of bus shuttles in place west oakland. track replacement is on the b.a.r.t. grid and also on posters that they taped up around b.a.r.t. stations all over the bay so keep that in mind saturday and sunday. back to you. >> thanks, mike. 4:48 right now. southwest airlines under scrutiny after former employee filed a discrimination claim against the airline. >> he says other employees created a whites only break room at a houston airport. jamal parker says the segregated room had been around for years at the airport and its existence was common knowledge. parker was fired in 2017.

he said he just wanted to feel like an equal at work. >> within that is fairness. you know, like you want to be treated like everyone else is being treated. so i wanted to feel like i am in a place where things are equal, and you know, i wanted to go back to >> the lawsuit also claims black employees found a knotted rope at a southwest airport gate. southwest airlines com saysnt o issued a statement saying it does "foster an environment that is diverse and inclusive and we do not tolerate or condone discrimination of any kind." checking a bag when you fly american airlines will now coit. the airline is increasing the price of any first check bag by $5, that amounts to $30, checking a second bag will cost 40 bucks. american airlines isn't alone, by the way. most of the major airlines are hiking fees citing rising fuel and operational costs this marks

day care center this morning. one of them now in serious condition. all are expected to survive. 52-year-old woman is in custody. police officers found her nearby, she apparently tried to slash her wrists. two adults were also stabbed. one father, who was dropping off his child. police are now trying to figure out a possible motive. we'll have more news for you right after the break. you could generate your own energy,

caused the lag at 70 offices across the state, including san francisco and in the south bay. this was the result. long lines and a lot of frustration. the issue took about two hours to fix. the dmv has of course been under scrutiny in recent months over long wait times. are you ready for the robot revolution? >> i'm not sure, but this morning, the "today" show team is examining the cutting edge future of robots in our lives, from the home to the hospital. take a look. >> is there thinking behind making her look so human-like? >> the idea here is to have them sort of look like humans but not too much. there's that boundary of, do they look too much like a human or a little creepy? >> has it been difficult to get some of your patients to trust a robot? >> in general, no. we've designed the robot to look cute. you could have in the front door of a hospital, where you could help triage patients, help decide what's going on with
