here in for laura garcia.y frid. >> kari, you're here to tell us it's going to be hot again today. i don't know if it's great news. >> how about it's great news it's the weekend. >> i like that. >> silver lining. >> we're going to still have that hot weather in the inland valleys and we'll keep it cool for the coast. wide range in temperatures but as we start out this morning in san jose, we're in the upper 50s, heading over to campbell. we're going to heat up fast. we'll be in the low 70s by 10:00 and some mid 80s and that's a lot warmer than normal, as we officially start to welcome in fall for tomorrow. pleasanton is going to be hot again today but as you walk the kids to school on this friday, it will still be comfortable. we'll look at all of our microclimates coming up. michael, you say oakland is starting to recover. >> i should have qualified that, recovering from the earlier traffic alert but then over here the last 60 seconds i've seen a lot more traffic flowing over toward the bay bridge toll
6:01 am
plaz plaza, especially here the overcrossing coming off of 880 northbound from the coliseum up to the area a lot more traffic kicking in over the last couple of minutes, the last 60 seconds like i said has seen a real big build over there. that's because we had all these folks trapped right there northbound 880, up toward the crash, that's the traffic alert, lasted for quite some time, over half an hour and that caused a lot of backup. that quickly cleared because traffic is slow past the scene, is light this friday. another crash and the backup on the shoulder at 66th. great recovery for 880 but that means all the folks are headed up to the bay bridge where the metering lights are on. 580 westbound may see a little more traffic over the next half hour as well because folks might have planned on that as an alternate. that was a good idea. looking at the rest of the bay a smooth flow of traffic. the south bay shows a little blip for san jose and fremont getting down to the south bay no problem with the headlights past the truck scales. back to you. >> all right, mike, thanks. it's 6:01 right now. the san jose catholic diocese is calling on anyone who

has been victimized by a priest to come forward and talk about it. it is one part of a reform plan the bishop announced a week ago. >> "today in the bay's" kris sanchez is live for us in san jose, and kris, we're hearing about a listening session planned for tomorrow. what do you know about that? >> reporter: well we don't know a lot, and that is because the bishop has declined to provide any other details, though this seems to be a push for greater transparency. what we know is that the session is open to anyone who wants to talk about sexual abuse of a priest on themselves or a family member. now the bishop and the diocese did again decline to provide any other details, though i did try several times this week. acrossing to bishop patrick mcgraw's letter last week they will seek information from congregants about the past reform as well as anyone victimized by clerical sexual abuse or one of their family members has. the first planned for tomorrow at 10:00 in the morning at our

negotiable including her desire for the fbi to investigate her sexual assault claim against supreme court nominee judge brett kavanaugh. >> let them give us an impartial report. what is so difficult to do that? stop the playing games. >> reporter: ford is asking that kavanaugh not be in the room when she testifies and she wants him to go first. they're asking the senate judiciary committee to limit cameras plus she wants the committee to subpoena kavanaugh's friend mark judge who she claims witnessed the assault, that's reportedly been denied. but sources say they did agree to guarantee her security. >> we'll let it play out, and i think everything's going to be just fine. this is a high quality person. >> reporter: president trump in las vegas last night standing by his nominee. >> we believe! >> reporter: as dozens are arrested on capitol hill,

6:10 am
880 north past high street there's still activity on the shoulder but all lanes are clear and all that backup quickly cleared and took about five, maybe ten minutes so everything recovered. burst of traffic went up toward the bay bridge where the metering lights are on. let's show you that things weren't a big deal. the backup really only in the fast track lanes. we'll check in with a live look. i wanted to look just north of there to the richmond/san rafael bridge. we have folks headed there but that's typical for your friday morning commute getting into the north bay headed westbound and west across the san mateo bridge a smooth drive as well. no real ripple effect right now from that oakland crash which is cleared. back to you. >> good news there, mike, thanks. all right, look, we love you watching "today in the bay" but if you're watching this, you're missing out right now. people are lined up there for their chance to buy the latest apple products. what they told us overnight about why they could not wait. and a new study tells us the truth once and for all, all new
