the hotter temperatures ahead, coming up viny has a heads up for anyone headed around the east bay. >> i want to get to the crash because the rest of the bay area is doing pretty good. however, chp is now reporting all lanes are blocked along southbound 880 at wynton avenue, a multivehicle crash involving four vehicles, possibly a semi as well. the delay through hisperrian. i wouldn't doubt it will turn into a sig alert. heavy delays southbound 880 at wynton avenue before as q ags street, all lanes are completely blocked off due to a multivehicle accident. let's take a quick look at the drive times. these have gone up, southbound 80 from 238 to highway 84, it's ten minutes, gone up to 27 minutes so we are expecting heavy delays.

i'll have an update as soon as it become available. 5:00 right now, a second woman is accusing supreme court nominee brett kavanaugh of sexual misconduct. it says it took place while both were students at yale more than 30 years ago. >> this follows the palo alto's accusation. what could they mean for kavanaugh'snicky. >> the top democrat on the senate judiciary committee is calling for the hearing this week to be postponed so they can have more time to go over these new allegations. brett kavanaugh today is facing new claims of sexual assault. deborah ramirez tells "the new yorker" she was at a college party with kavanaugh when he took down his pants and exposed himself to her. she admits she was drinking and her memory is fuzzy.

it's not clear if classmates of ramirez corroborate the account. minutes after the story was published, the white house and kavanaugh both issued denials calling it a smear, plain and simple. the allegation comes at a pivotal time for the scotus nomination. this thursday, kavanaugh and another accuser, christine blasey ford, are set to testify in front of the senate judiciary committee. republican senators so far standing by the nominee. >> unless there's something more, no, i'm not going to rule in judge kavanaugh's life over this but she should come forward and have her say. >> reporter: some details of how she'll have her say haven't ban greed upon. it's not clear who will ask questions on the gop side, if there will be additional witnesses, and how long senators will have for questions. many on both sides are galvanized, but not everyone. >> i think there are a few members of both sides, republican and democrat, where who they believe this week will make the difference in how they

the the story continues to develop. breaking news for you right now, that could affect your morning listening habits. sirius xm is set to buy pandora and all stocks deal worth $3.5 billion. pandora based in oakland stocks in pandora are up on news of the deal. matthew muller returns to court as his trial starts on new state charges. he was convicted on federal charges of kidnapping a vallejo woman after drugging her and her boyfriend. mueller a harward educated lawyer is defending himself by using an insanity defense and in an exclusive jailhouse interview with nbc bay area, mueller says he will plead guilty if the couple donates half their settlement to a non-profit that helps people who are wrongfully convicted. the couple got $2.5 million after vallejo police did not believe them. this morning we're likely a few weeks away from learning the names of local priests accused of abuse. the san jose diocese says it

will release the list by the middle of october. this past weekend church leaders started a dialogue with parishioners and victims about the abuse. we told you on friday about the new listening sessions. dozens of people showed up on saturday and we spoke with some of those people who went. >> i came because i was somebody who was abused by a priest myself. part of the healing for me is to have a voice, and to push for reforms. >> you can't heal until you address the wound. i think that's -- i love my church. i'm going to stay with it, but it's going to be hard. it's going to be really hard. >> it's tough. now the next listening session is scheduled for october 2nd. a brand new study is being released this morning regarding the effects of climate change on all u.s. national parks. >> "today in the bay's" pete suratos joins us live with golden gate bridge armed with new details for us. this is a new study, pete. >> reporter: good morning to

you, marcus and laura. it was a couple weeks ago we're covering that climate action summit in san francisco and now this morning we're getting this brand new study about how climate change is affecting u.s. national parks, including some of the parks here in the bay area, and all of california. now the study was put together by uc berkeley locally as well as with some help from the university of wisconsin madison. now in the past century, according to the study, average temperatures have increased at twice the rate in national parks, while yearly rainfall has gone down. the causes according to this study is the use of emissions. so we're talking about cars, power plants, deforestation, things of that nature and what this led to is an increase in areas burned, the melt offiing glaciers and shifting of areas such as yosemite national parks. if we stay on our current path, the study says temperatures will change between 5 to 7 degrees

celsius but if we go forward with the par ace agreement it will only change between 1 to 3 degrees celsius. regardless of all of this, the study authors say we can expect to see a two-degree temperature change at national parks across the country. we're live at the golden gate bridge, pete surratos for "today in the bay." firefighters are battle the charlie fire in l.a. county, first spotted saturday near santa clarita. it grew from three achesers to more than 3,000 acres. 34 homes were evacuated. it is now 20% contained. as california copes with another year of wildfires investigators can't figure out a cause for many of they will. associated press revealed state data on the ten largest and most destructive wildfires since 2008 and investigators couldn't find an exact cause about a third of the time. lightning accounted for a

quarter of the fires and power lines. no cause is turned the tubs fire that devastated santa rosa about a year ago. 5:07 and tonight everything on the table. this is in san francisco's unified school district. san jose unified is holding a community-wide town hall meeting at 6:00 tonight inside pioneer high school on blossom hill road. 30,000 students, their parents and community members are all welcome. there is no set agenda and folks can bring anything they'd like. recent headlines we've covered include the arrest of a teacher for explicit photos and changes to the dress code. off the plaza park in san francisco, just got a fresh makeover and hundreds flocked to see it yesterday. the pacific heights park located here is closed for reconstruction this past year. fresh grass and new gateways were added, but it's what is underneath that changed the most. better underground drainage was

680. look at the overall bay area looking good. let's get to the crash that will affect your morning commute of southbound 880. southbound 808 at wynton avenue, a multivehicle crash involving four vehicles, one possibly a semi, all lanes currently blocked. chp still not reporting this as a sig alert but we're seeing heavy delays backed up through hisperian boulevard. your best bet take the surface street either mission or hisperian or southbound 680 is your best bet. as of right now again, all lanes are blocked along southbound 880 at wynton avenue, a multivehicle crash involving four vehicles. the latest chp report shows they have tow trucks on the way so hopefully they get this cleared out within the next couple of minutes or so. southbound 80 from 238 to highway 84 we is ealready starting to see heavy delays through the area of about 29 minutes. on the bay bridge toll plaza the metering lights are very much

good monday morning. at 5:14 you walk out the door and it feels pretty chilly as we take a live look in palo alto, we go from cool this morning to a lot more comfortable for the afternoon, with highs there only reaching the mid to upper 70s, but for some of our inland valleys it's going to be hot with some 90s. i'll talk about that, the high fire danger and when our temperatures go down, coming up in less than five minutes. i'm tracking that major accident in hayward along southbound 880 at wynton avenue. all lanes remain blocked. we're seeing those heavy delays backed up to the 238 interchange. expect major delays. chp reporting that tow trucks are on the way. i'll have an update on what you can expect and some alternate routes coming up. good morning, i'm eric chen

at cnbc global headquarters. here are today's top business headlines. wall street could oenin the red after the u.s. and china imposed a fresh round of tariffs on billions of dollars of each other's imports. most asian markets including china were closed today for a holiday. europe is lower. economists worn a long drawn-out trade war will hurt the u.s. and china and global growth. other thing to watch include reports on home prices, new home sales and consumer confidence, plus the fed holds a meeting later this week where they're widely expected to hike interest rates. friday the dow closed to a new record high 26,743. what's on the list of u.s. and chinese tariffs? the apple watch and fitbit trackers are exempt but the modems, routers and internet gateways that make those devices work are not so lucky. chinese products hit with new tariffs include vacuum cleaner, seafood and certain produce and tobacco. u.s. goods include coffee and airplanes. tesla is determined to move as

patchy fog but our fog today only will be at about a thousand feet or less, hovering right over the golden gate bridge, keeping it a little bit cooler there. san francisco as you head out the door, 50 degrees. it is only in the mid-40s right now in the north bay, napa and santa rosa 45 degrees. we step out the door in livermore to 51, and 54 now in palo alto. as you get ready to head out for a workout this morning or headed to the gym in foster city, it's going to be in the low 50s, and then we'll see it a little bit nicer as we go into the rest of the morning, reaching 69 degrees at noon but the temperatures heat up faster in walnut creek, as you make your way inland. we are already going to be in the upper 60s and low 70s by 10:00 this morning, and then up to 80 degrees two hours later and our temperatures continue to climb, as we head close to the low 90s today. it will be 92 degrees in antioch, and in livermore. napa reaching 86 and 76 degrees in oakland. san jose looking at a high today of 85 degrees and we're going to

see a lot of changes as we go through the week. we still have this hot high pressure moving in, but an area of low pressure that will cause the air to rise, give us more clouds and potentially some rain for northern california. that could bring in some much cooler temperatures and you can tell as you look at the bottom of the screen where we will have a chance of rain and how significant our temperatures will drop significantly, our temperatures will drop over the next few days. we go from 95 on wednesday inland to 76 degrees on sunday, and once again, more clouds and a slight chance of showers farther to the north. for san francisco, our warmest day will be on wednesday. no clouds and fog, and a very sunny and warm day but dropping off for saturday and sunday. as we head over to vianey, you've been tracking major issues for east bay drivers. >> the issues continue. way tonight start with a quick look at the overall bay area, in case the hayward area isn't part of your morning commute the south bay a smooth commute through there and the peninsula and through the city but again

that hayward crash is really causing some major delays. let's get right to the latest info on that. this is along southbound 880 at wynton avenue, a multivehicle crash involving four weeks, one of those being a semi, which is currently chp still reporting that all lanes are blocked. now, as of the last time i checked, which was seconds before coming out here, they have not issued a sig alert for this, but this could change considering all lanes are blocked and we could see the heavy delays backed up through the 238 interchange. your best bets will continue to be take southbound 680, get off on mission or get off on hisperian boulevard. you can see how heavy the delays are, get on surface streets. auto i'll not seeing any slowing on the surface streets right before getting on to the san mateo bridge. the san mateo bridge seems to be getting along just nicely. meanwhile the bay bridge toll plaza a very busy monday morning there, no issues on the bay bridge, just the typical monday morning commute. i'll have an update and follow

now the a 5:24 right now and deadly crashes involving teen drivers are on the rise. now the american academy of pediatrics says parents and doctors need to get involved. the group suggests doctors make a point of counseling teens about seat belts and risks of driving while drunk or on medication. help by spending more time with their teenagers behind the wheel and having kids experience a variety of driving conditions. >> it's 5:25 right now. turns out teenagers who see their mothers smoke pot may be more likely to try it sooner than other kids. that is according to new research from harvard found children whose mothers use marijuana tend to try the drug two years before their peers. kids who smoke marijuana may be at greater risk for mental and concentration problems. tonight the new season of "the voice" begins. >> two former "american idol" stars headlining at coaches on the panel, kelly clarkson and jennifer hudson join blake

the same poll shows that republican enthusiasm about the elections is increasing. right now, it's about even with democrats. one thing many people agreed on is the economy. 70% of voters say they are satisfied with the economy. hillary clinton will be in the bay area today. she's headlining two fund-raisers in san francisco. the first private event is at a san francisco home, this is in support of eleni kulanakis running for lieutenant governor. tickets cost $5,000 to $7,000 for the morning reception. for the second fund-raiser, benefits the democratic party, that one will be held at the fairmont hotel in san francisco, it's called the ultimate women's power luncheon and issues conference. some tickets could cost more than $30,000. back here at home, here we go again. it is a sight that is becoming all too familiar in the bay area. another grab-and-go at an apple store. several men walked into the

yesterday. it happened midway through the fourth quarter in kansas city against the chiefs. garoppolo was making a run with the ball. he made a cut and his knee gave out before he was hit by his opponent. jimmy g. had to be carted off the field. here is 49ers head coach kyle shanahan after his team lost the game to the chiefs. >> any time you lose your starting quarterback, i mean, that's, you know, everyone, it is a big deal and when we lost our star running back, too. so obviously feel for him personally. i know how disappointed he is. i haven't gotten a chance to see him yet but i feel for him. >> reporter: coach shanahan says he has a lot of confidence in backup quarterback c.j. beathard. i point out beathard won the 49ers their first game last season and he did quite a throw in the fourth quarter yesterday. coach shanahan will be addressing the media here at levi stadium later this afternoon at 4:00. reporting live here in santa clara, outside levi stadium, bob riddell, "today in the bay."

couple issues out on the roads. it has been a decent morning in terms of traffic collisions or major delays for the south bay peninsula and into the city. in hayward near the east bay, we are still dealing with that early crash and this is along southbound 880 at wynton avenue, involving multiple vehicles, all lanes remain blocked. the latest update was it is backed up all the way to 238. see delays around mission. northbound 238 on the slower side but if you look at the san mateo bridge that accident as you approach the san mateo bridge no heavy delays in that area. quick check of your bridge drive times we are seeing delays along westbound 80 for the bay bridge, 1 minutes. traffic backed up to the maze. >> what a way to start the monday morning. >> especially when we're coming off a great weekend and looingilooing i -- looking ahead to the next. >> it's monday morning, trying

to get through the week. let's talk about the week and the weekend. here is a look at the seven-day forecast and this will put in perspective how nice this weekend will be after a week of some hot temperatures. look at that on wednesday. we're up to 95 degrees inland and then some 70s for the weekend, while san francisco heats up a little bit more, sunshine will be up to 78 and then it will be a cool and breezy weekend, as the low clouds and fog return. if you have plans to head to the tri valley this weekend, it is going to be a nice one, going out to the restaurant, shopping, going to the vineyard some upper 70s in the forecast. more clouds on sunday. squaw valley is going to start to cool off. we go from 73 degrees on friday to 60 degrees on sunday, and if you're headed down to santa barbara, not a bad beach weekend, with some low 70s throughout saturday and sunday. we will talk about what's going on today in san jose, our temperature trend is coming up in about three minutes. >> sounds good. thanks, kari. 5:40. later this morning, a closer

right now at 5:43 as you get ready to head out the door it's a cool start this morning but it's going to be a hot day. let me show you what i'm talking about. live look in san jose with our temperature trend, we'll be at 54 degrees at 7:00. at 10:00, we're at 65, and then 78 at noon. we continue into the low 80s by early afternoon and eventually hitting the upper 80s today. so be prepared for it all. we'll also have a look at our wide range in temperatures throughout the week, that's coming up in less than five minutes. the bay bridge metering lights have been on since about 5:20. right now we're seeing some delays backed up all the way to the maze. as for the span itself, well, we're just seeing a little bit of slowing as we pass the island. i'll have an update on that crash in hayward com

administration for 2020, instead of letting them rise to 36 miles per gallon by 2025. the trump administration says they're trying to make vehicles more affordable. today's hearing in fresno is the first of three. >> 5:47 right now. a new report in the "l.a. times" showing a large number of complaints against california law enforcement officers are ruled in officers' favor without any explanation. heat up. we go from 54 degrees at 7:00 to 71 degrees at 11:00, and 81 degrees at 1:00 today. and then as you get the kids out the door for school this morning, in the tri valley, pleasanton is looking pretty good, at least as you walk to school but then you see just how fast those temperatures heat up. we'll be in the mid 80s by 1:00 today, and check out the seven-day forecast at the bottom of the screen, as we look at our high temperatures for today. we'll be up to 76 degrees in oakland, 85 in san jose, and 87 in morgan hill. some low 90s for our interior valleys and it's going to be even hotter as the week goes along. so you do need a jacket to start out for those early hours and the cooler temperatures but right around today, t-shirt and shorts will keep you comfortable, as we look at big changes on the way this week, we still have the high pressure that's giving us a slight offshore flow but things change as we go through the week, an area of low pressure causes the air to rise, gives us more clouds and even some rain farther to the north, but the

cool air spills into the bay area. here is how our temperatures go for the week, from 90 today and then peak up to 95 degrees on wednesday, and then the valleys will start to see the temperatures cooling off, and then check out the weekend. 76 degrees by sunday. san francisco also sees a little bit less in the way of clouds and fog and warmer temperatures on wednesday. vianey has an update on what's happening for the east bay. >> i do and it doesn't look like it's a great update. we were able to get a hold of chp. quick look at the overall bay area, we've got slowing along northbound 101 in the south bay in san jose, but again, we were able to get the latest and unfortunately chp is saying that they don't have an estimated time on when the lanes are expected to reopen. so you can imagine that this backup has only gotten worse since we first reported it about 30 minutes ago. southbound 880 at wynti winton multivehicle accident, the

bill cosby. this is new video of him entering of the courthouse. happening snebsing starts for comedian bill cosby. new video from inside the courthouse, cosby was convicted in april on three counts of aggravated indecent assault against andrea constand. she says cosby drugged and assaulted her at his pennsylvania home back in 2004. the maximum sentence he could face is 30 years in prison, although cosby's attorney says they are planning to appeal. many of cosby's various accusers say they are going to be in court for cosby's sentencing today. is your drive to and from the office getting you down? nearly a quarter of workers say they've quit a job just due to a bad commute. people in san francisco, new york, chicago and miami have resigned most often for that reason. 40% say their travel has
