mid-70s for today in pleasant hill as you make your way out to the b.a.r.t. station. already by noon, we're going to be up to 80 degrees and then heading up to close to 90 degrees there. we'll talk about all of our microclimates and the high fire danger for today, coming up. vianey has been tracking the morning commute and the problems for the east bay. >> hayward still affecting our morning commute and as we aim closer to the 6:00 a.m. hour, not looking pretty out there at least for hayward but the rest of the bay area keep an eye out on the south bay, slight slowing northbound 101. through the peninsula we have clear conditions but hayward unfortunately as of right now chp still has no estimated time on when this will reopen and for whatever reason, they have not turned this into a sig alert. that's okay, i've got you covered. southbound 880 at winton avenue a multiweek crash. all lanes remain blocked. it's involving a semi mostly off to the side. they did have several tow trucks

on the way during the 5:00 a.m. hour. the delays back up through hesperian boulevard. take southbound 680 or surface streets and avoid it all together. this is right before the approach to san mateo bridge. you can see not really causing any delays along the san mateo bridge right now. in fact it's probably helping the san mateo bridge commute pause a lot of people are stuck along southbound 880. i have seen slowing westbound 80 toward the bay bridge. looking at about 13 minutes, back up through the maze and the metering lights have been on since 5:20. head out the door right now. back to you. >> thank you, vianey. breaking news, sirius xm is set to buy pandora in an all stocks deal worth $3.5 million. stocks are up on news of the deal. markets set to open at 6:0. a protest is under way judd

sit outside of the supreme court in washington, d.c. raining skies there is not keeping the protesters way and that is because a second woman is now accusing supreme court nominee brett kavanaugh of sexual assault. >> this is something that took place while both of them were students more than 30 years ago and at yale university. this follows the palo alto's doctor's accusations. "today in the bay's" knick i-carvahal joins us live on capitol hill what this could mean for the kavanaugh nomination. good morning. >> hey marcus and laura. good morning. the top democrat on the senate judiciary committee is calling for this week's hearing to be khan sold so there can be an investigation into these new claims. brett kavanaugh today is facing new claims of sexual assault. deborah ramirez tells "the new yorker" she was at a college party with kavanaugh when he took down his pants and exposed himself to her. she admits she was drinking and her memory is fuzzy.
6:03 am
it's not clear if classmates of ramirez corroborate the account. minutes after the story was published, the white house and kavanaugh both issued denials calling it a smear, plain and simple. the allegation comes at a pivotal time for the scotus nomination. this thursday, kavanaugh and another accuser, christine blasey ford, are set to testify in front of the senate judiciary committee. republican senators so far standing by the nominee. >> unless there's something more, no, i'm not going to rule in judge kavanaugh's life over this, but she should come forward and have her say. >> reporter: some details of how she'll have her say haven't been agreed upon. it's not clear who will ask questions on the gop side, if there will be additional witnesses, and how long senators will have for questions. many on both sides are galvanized, but not everyone. >> i think there are a few members of both sides, republican and democrat, where who they believe this week will
6:04 am
make the difference in how they vote. >> reporter: a nomination that once seems like a sure thing now hangs in the balance. just this morning one of the reporters who worked on the story for "the new yorker" told nbc news two of the ramirez people that said were eyewitnesses say this didn't happen. they're not going along with her version of the story. michael avenatti is representing a third woman who has what he calls credible allegations of sexual assault against kavanaugh. avenatti says he's got evidence he's going to make public within the coming days. >> so many twists and turns in this right here. >> keep unfolding all of that. thanks so much. coverage of the story conditions at 6:30 this morning. kris sanchez is live in palo alto with a show of support planned locally today and how folks also came out last night to stand with dr. ford. matthew mueller returns to

6:06 am
among those where no cause has been determined are the tubs fire that devastated santa rosa now about a year ago. a brand new study regarding the effects of climate change on our national parks. >> "today in the bay" pete suratos joins us live from the golden gate bridge and pete i know you have information on the details. break it down for us. >> reporter: good morning to you, marcus and laura. according to the study done by uc berkeley one of the universities in charge it has to do with how it's affecting the national parks pause these are extreme environments that we're talking about. as i mentioned, uc berkeley and the university of wisconsin madison are handling this study. in the past century they say average temperatures have gone up in the national parks at twice the rate and nearly rainfall at the same time has gone down. the causes they're saying are emissions. so we're talking about cars, power plants, deforestation, saying there's an increase in
6:07 am
the wildfire areas that burned, the melting of glaciers at national parks as well as shifting vegetation. of course all this depends on how we move forward with the paris agreement. if we stay on our current path, the study says temperatures will change between 5 to 7 degrees celsius but if we abide by the agreement, it will only change between 1 to 3 degrees celsius. they're saying they expect a two-degree temperature change at national parks regardless. we're live at the golden gate bridge, pete surratos for "today in the bay." >> beautiful vista behind you too, pete, thanks. >> 6:07. the park in san francisco got a fresh makeover. hundreds flocked to see it yesterday. the pacific heights located area was closed for reconstruction for the past year. appreciate it green grass and gateways were added. better underground drainage was added and the park will no longer have the hazardous slime. the spokeswoman says the

6:17 am
start out this morning all clear skies and the concern of a high fire danger for our inland valleys. all of these areas shaded in red are under a red flag warning that continues through tomorrow evening. what does that mean? that means any simple little spark could cause a wildfire to develop fairly quickly, because we do have such low humidity and the winds will be picking up today. we do have those winds that could gust up to 35 miles per hour in the hills across the parts of the east bay and the north bay. so just be really careful out there. it's going to be hotter today, too. as you head out the door making your way to work and on your way to diridon station in san jose, our temperatures go from 53 degrees at 7:00 to 71 degrees at 11:00 and then as we go into the afternoon, it's going to continue to heat up pretty fast and for parts of the inland bay area, in the pittsburg area we walk to school with temperatures about 51 degrees so make sure your kids have a jacket.
6:18 am
later on today they'll be taken off. temperatures in the mid 80s, headed into the upper 80s in the south bay today with gilroy reaching 90 degrees. it will be hotter than it has been the past couple of days and we'll see more of the same for walnut creek, reaching 90 degrees and for hayward 78 degrees there, and 76 in san mateo today. san francisco reaching into the low 70s. mission district up to 72 degrees, and check out santa rosa today 91 degrees. but we have some changes on the way. hot high pressure fights back. our ocean breeze at least to start out the week, but then by the end of the week an area of low pressure develops that causes the air to rise. we get some cooler air moving in, and some rain farther to the north but the cool air builds into the bay area. so here's a look at how our temperatures go for the week. the valleys will reach up to 95 degrees on wednesday. so indeed, some very hot temperatures for this time of year, but then we go from 95 to 76 by sunday. ily' ha i'll have more on that but vianey has the update on the
