bay bridge shot morning. taking a live look outside this morning. can we make it out? kind of up close and personal. i'm guessing that's san francisco this morning. see the fog? the lights? >> good morning i'm laura garcia. >> i am marcus washington. right now we want to get to check of the weather today. it starts off kool with the fog. >> it starts off cool and it is going to be another hot one, another spare the air day. that means if you have breathing problems, young children, the elderly should limit time outside because of high amounts of ozone in the air for the south bay and east bay.

the spare the air alert clears today n. walnut creek we start ott in the mid 50s. at 81 pie noon. we will look at all of our micro climates coming up. you have a couple of issues on the roads. >> surface track will be an issue. freeways themselves, pretty much green everywhere. just off of 680 at capital expressway the amen. surface streets are open as you approach capital off of the freeway. we will talk about that. iut that all the green sensors we are and this closure forthugh pacif. that continues today. meanwhile getting through coco county, an easy drive. toward the bay bridge, there are patches of fog. we showed you the foggy shot from san francisco. carl is out there, making your live to work interesting at times. between the c in san francisco, you have the hazard sign, that's

around the transit center. the breaking news from yesterday, the transit center -- the old temporary transit center is the new transit center, and the new transit center is closed. >> get ready for the gridlock as the new transit center is closed for the morning commute. crews found a cracked beam there in the ceiling of the bus stop. there are several questions what caused the crack and what it means for the etbuilding. >> as gene elie reports the center was built ason of the we coast but right now it is a headache. >> reporter: city fell confused commuters the new sales force transit center is closed. as crews put barricades in place, next door at the sales force building the plaza was off limits for visitors in town for dream port. >> we had no idea. >> the traffic center the closed.

>> reporter: the transbay joint powers authority evacuated the $2.2 billion transit center just before 5:00 after workers installing ceiling tiles on the third floor discovered a crack in a steel beam. >> the beam is cragged so the behavior of the beam right now is unpredictable. the engineers are cautious. >> reporter: the cracked beam is over freemont street. it's part of the structure for the ceiling of the bus deck and the park. freemont street remains closed. during the height of the evening commute several surrounding streets were closed creating chaos for drivers and pedestrians rushing for buses that are a few blocks away at the old transit center. >> we were talking before how long it would be before there were problems. >> i would rather take aist bus from another spot than have a beam fall on me. >> reporter: engineers need to find out what caused the crack,

how widespread the problem is and how to fix it before reopening any part of the building. >> that was gene elie reporting. our coverage of the transbay transit center closure continues. we will have an update in the traffic report season and we will have live team coverage in 30 minutes as the morning commute gets going. the troubled millennial tower right around the corner. engineers do not believe there are connections between the tower's problem and the crack in the transit bay center. yesterday, under orders from city building inspectors, experts were checking the 36th floor window that suddenly cracked over labor day weekend. within 90 days all 416 units the tower must beed for similar window cracks. at this opponent the big unanswered question is whether the tower's tilt is too great. new this morning, lanes of capital expressway near 680 in san jose are closed right now.

this is the scene after police say they spotted a possible drunk driver. officers later found the car as it hit a light pole. it seems that the passenger was taken away in an ambulance. no word on charges for the driver. we are waiting for more information here. it's possible a judge today may set a new trial date for the high-profile murder case on the peninsula. tiffani lee from her boyfriend are accused of murdering keith green two years ago. police say green was in a custody dispute with lee when he disappeared. after his body was found in a north bay, police arrested lee at her hillsborough manning. lee's boyfriend has since cut a plea deal to tlerial date for l before the end of the year. a frightening story for parents a. school grounds keeper is accused of molesting a child in contra costa county.

71-year-old enrique pena is facing 70 felony counts. his bail is set at $12 million. the victim reported pena to contra costa school department. the walnut creek says the victim is not from the school. he has been banned from the campus billion his case is reviewed. for weeks we have been following the story of hope ville naj san jose. it was originally a tent village that cropped up on state-owned land which the state shut down. but yesterday county supervisors approved a deal to lease nearby city-owned land. the deal will keep hope village operating as part of a six-month pilot program. authorities hope it will shelter 30 people. the oakland a's looking more locked in into the all or nothing wild card position against the yankees.

good morning. i'm eric chemi at cnbc global headquarters. here are today's top business headlines. wall street is pointed towards a positive open today. the dow erased early gains yesterday though following some tough trade talk from president trump and other administration officials. analysts say that could mean it ul process to resolve trade disputes with china and other countries. on today's watch list aonew hom up a two-day meeting and it is widely expected to raise interest rates again. the dow yesterday falling 69 points to 26492 and the nasdaq rose 14 to 8007. delta restored all its systems

fruitvale bart station. temperatures in the 50s. we are advising everybody if you can to take public transit. it's another spare the air day. temperatures will be reaching into the upper 80s, even some mid 90s for the south county, reaching 94 degrees. i pleasant. this will be the peak of the heat as oakland today reaches 77. we will see a high of 78 in san mateo. mission district, 72 degrees. mostly some 60s in san francisco. and then looking at 90s in parts of the north bay. 87 in santa rosa and ukiah reaching 99 degrees today. as you look out the window you are getting dressed this morning it is a day to make sure you have on a jacket for the early hours. but the rest of the day, sleeveless shirt and shorts will keep you comfortable. with it feeling like summer outside why not make it a pool day or a beach day? break out the bathing suit, head to the beach or the pool and relax after work today. it's going to be a hot one as

our temperatures continue to really heat up. but we are in for some changes here. i wanted to show you the larger weather pattern here. an area of low pressure will approach just coming in from the west. that will change in your window direction coming in from the west. as we go into early next week we will see our rain chances going hanc of ourture reach look at some tropical moist. that, 98 degrees today. then cooling down to 80 on friday. some upper 70s for the weekend. next week i will be tracking some rain chances for monday and tuesday. also a chance of rain in san francisco next week. meantime we are looking at a nice and warm day. highs in the upper 60s. and mike takes us back to san francisco. >> delays through san francisco and into san francisco for both travel through the air around the transit center. remember we have been talking about one of our top stories is the sales force transit center

is temporarily closed so the temporary transit center is now your temporary transit center. it's going to affect muni and ac transit coming into san francisco. it will not fact cal trains or bart at least on the surface level there. folks will shift their patterns around. here's the transbay center here. it families freemont street and fulsome over in this area. moss coney center continues with the closure, howard between third and fourth. right now dream force is going on there. for the last couple of weeks there was road work, the climate summit. a lot of activity over here as well. this entire stretch of san francisco is met with yet more issues for surface street traffic. we will continue to follow the progress they make at the transit center and we will hopefully have the latest news by noon. n th the last date and we will have our report as well. coco county towards the maze, no problem. toll plaza moves as you would expect this time of the morning

a. smooth flow of traffic as some crews start to move. i will check on this crash that just popped up in hayward. they carry guns and wear bulletproof vests but more bay area police officers are adding another critical tool to their arsenal. narcan. >> it reverses the effects of boyd overdoses. officers started carrying it to save members of the public but now sometimes they are using it to save themselves. >> reporter: good morning. this is what a dose of narcan looks like. without this stuff, an alameda county narcotics detective wouldn't be here today. he nearly died from an accidental overdose from something in the air during a drug bust in june. he spoke with us exclusively. he said he was the first one in and right away his lips started to tinkle and soon he stopped breathing and lost consciousness. he inhaled a trace a. fentanyl powder. it took two doses of narcan to bring him back.
