i'm marcus washington. >> i'm laura garcia. let's check in with kari right now. mike has a look at the commute. but the rain is moving on you the. >> the rain is moving on you the. our roads are finally starting to dry out as well. but for some of us, there may be one last round of rain. let's get you out the door with a look outside in dublin as the roads dry out after some overnight showers and that morning commute from brentwood looks like it will start out with humid conditions, low 60s. you'll see those clouds rolling by throughout the morning. it's going to be a cooler day. only some low 70s. in the south bay we're going to get the kids on the way to school with some temperatures in the mid-60s and mostly cloudy skies. starting to see the sun breaking out by early afternoon. i'll have a look at the whole forecast and what to expect for the weekend coming up. mike gets you out the door with a look at that commute. >> brentwood crash still reported, camino diablo. there's traffic control to help you get around safely there.
6:01 am
meanwhile in san jose, we're looking at 101. there's a good volume are of traffic showing slowing. there's the camera. that's the only slowing to show you throughout the south bay. northbound push through san jose, that's your pattern. that will start to slow first. over here the tri-valley moves at speed. we're looking towards 880 south. chp has updated that crash. no major injuries. that's great news. mild slowdown there into hayward as well as down into union city for south on the nimitz. all eyes on washington this morning. top senate leaders in the judiciary are looking at the fbi report on supreme court nominee brett kavanaugh. a source tells nbc news correspondent peter alexander the fbi contacted ten people and interviewed nine of them. it's not clear why the tenth person was not interviewed. the source says the white house concluded the interviews do not corroborate sexual misconduct
6:02 am
allegations against brett kavanaugh. nbc's tracie potts has more from capitol hill. >> reporter: the fbi's background check into sexual misconduct allegations against brett kavanaugh is done. senators will review it this morning. >> there will be plenty of time for members to view and be briefed on the supplemental material before a friday cloture vote. >> reporter: that vote begins the process of deciding whether kavanaugh will sit on the u.s.s supreme court. republicans hope to take a final vote this weekend. the white house has already seen the report early this morning. a spokesman said they're fully confident kavanaugh will be confirmed. the fbi is expected to summarize its interviews with accuser deborah ramirez and classmates. agents did not speak with judge brett kavanaugh or his first accuser, dr. christine blasey ford. >> how did he get home? i don't remember. >> reporter: president trump under fire from democrats and republicans for how he recounted

her testimony. >> just not right. >> i thought his comments were disgraceful. >> reprehensible. >> appalling is the right word. >> just plain wrong. >> reporter: the white house is defending the president. >> the president was stating the facts. >> reporter: new facts this morning as lawmakers prepare to vote. in a new statement overnight, dr. ford's lawyers say they're profoundly disappointed that she wasn't interviewed. neither was kavanaugh, by the way. they also say they think those who directed this inquiry weren't really looking for the truth. tracie potts, nbc news, washington. the fbi did not mention christine blasey ford as part of this additional background check but supporters keep repeating what they've been saying all along, we believe her. and they'll do it again in san francisco. >> "today in the bay's" kris sanchez is live in palo alto where there has been support throughout the bay area. >> reporter: this has been a hotbed of support for christine blasey ford.
6:04 am
this is where she lives with her family. though we don't know if she's been back home since she went into hiding. you mentioned that there's going to be a protest and a show of support in san francisco. these are sexual assault survivors who say they're going to duct tape their mouths shut in support. that's a stark contrast to this rally last night where supporters of christine blasey ford gathered in morgan hill to show support for her and also show their frustration at some of the senators don't believe her nor the other women who have come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct against brett kavanaugh. i should mention as our cameras were there, there were drivers who shouted messages of support as they passed by, but this time for brett kavanaugh. >> it feels good not to feel alone. just have a place to be angry together. >> i don't find it acceptable from our judiciary committee and i definitely don't find it acceptable from mr. kavanaugh.
6:05 am
>> reporter: so by the time these supporters gather in san francisco, we might start to get an idea of how that fbi investigation briefing is going in washington, d.c. by the way, these protesters are going to gather outside headquarters for charles schwab, who you might know is from atherton and one of the top donors to the republican party. in san jose -- in palo alto, kris sanchez, "today in the bay." as we mentioned, we're keeping an eye on washington this morning. our coverage continues with scott mcgrew and his "checks & balances" segment coming up at 6:45. 6:05 right now. new this morning a former cal professor who resigned after sexual harassment allegations is now reportedly suing the school. prominent professor nazir al sayed resigned last month. according to "the chronicle" a
