ticket sold in south carolina. >> another lucky ticket was sold in san francisco matching five of the six numbers. "today in the bay's" pete suratos joins us live in the safeway in san francisco where the ticket was sold. san francisco turns out to be pretty lucky. >> reporter: very lucky. none of us won because we're at work this morning. one of the winning tickets here at the safeway, yet another winner in san francisco at another safeway. that is something to say. last week there was a winning ticket sold at the safeway marina, with a five out of six winning ticket. the winner tinning $1.9 million. an employee worked at the bakery and found out he was a winner. the am/pm five out of six, the

troubled millennium tower, which is tilting and sinking 18 inches. this comes after inspectors found a second cracked window last week. >> the fact they didn't tell the city about it is outrageous. >> reporter: the first on the 36th floor suddenly cracked over labor day. >> how many isolated incidents show there is a pattern here? >> reporter: aarons reingin wants to yellow tag the building if the tower doesn't play by the city's safety rules. the report says a win dough washer has known about the broken window for a few years and reported it to building management. >> you don't have to be a rocket skib 'tis to realize if a window fails and shards of glass are crashing from above that it's a dangerous situation. >> reporter: lili tan, "nbc bay area news." in a few hours, two victims of clergy sex abuse plan to speak out in san francisco about a lawsuit filed against the

september 15th in san jose. she's 5'1" with a tattoo of a carrot on her left forearm and atoos of religious symbols on her right arm. she's been reported missing before but never this long. this morning the greater fairlawns national marine sanctuary says a shark bit ron elliott on his hand and wrist several times yesterday morning near farallon islands. elliott is known for his underwater filmmakering. spokesman says elliott was at ground zero for the attack but doesn't think it will stop him from getting in that water again. >> if he's been in the water consistently over 30 some-odd years i think he'll probably be back in the water at the earlest opportunity. >> no word on what kind of shark bit elliott. coast guard shopper did fly him to stanford hospital. he walked in on his own and is

thanks frank. good morning. i'm frank holland here at cnbc global headquarters. here are today's top business headlines. wall street is set for a mixed open this morning amid a sell-off in u.s. markets. stocks recovered from a 500 point loss and the dow in yesterday's session, but they ended the day lower after earnings results from caterpillar and 3m disappointed investors. the dow closed down 126 points at 25,191 while the nasdaq dropped 31 points to close at 7437. today investors are watching more earnings reports from companies like ford, microsoft, and tesla, after the bell. more than 60% of americans say their finances have not improved under the trump economy that's according to a bankrate.com survey ahead of the upcoming mid terms.

45% of americans say their finances remain the same while 17% said they were actually worse off since the 2016 presidential election. that's despite low unemployment rates, stock market gains and increase in wages. when results were divided among party lines republicans were more likely to report improvement, giving credit to the president, republicans in congress or both. target is aiming to one-up its retail rival this is holiday season. the company announcing it will offer free two-day shipping with no minimum purchase for the first time. the offer runs from november 1st to december 22nd, during the busiest shopping season of the year. target's announcement follows a similar notice from walmart, walmart planning to expand two-day shipping and in-store returns to items sold by third parties on its website starting next month. looks like the holiday shopping competition is heating up. >> you were excited. you were like, ahh! >> frank, let's go shopping. double click our way to

hello wednesday morning. taking a live look outside overlooking downtown san jose. another crisp, cool start to our morning. we'll check the full forecast coming in. this weekend a unique art display comes to the bay area, bruce monroe's stories in light exhibit will open at the montalvo. >> montalvo is a beautiful earth center. >> in saratoga on sunday. here is a preview of what you can expect. the british artist's work scattered across the lawns and gardens. the exhibit will stay open until march. >> you see a lot of halloween exhibits scattered across the lawns of many bay area homes.

>> i saw that, a similar exhibit, i don't know if it's the same artist in nashville a couple years ago. it is beautiful to see it all lit up. >> yes. we've got everyone getting ready for the weekend, and we're trying to make it through the week now. here is what you're feeling as you get ready to head out the door. it's a cooler morning for most of us, just a few more degrees compared to yesterday, where we step out the door in santa rosa. it's 45 degrees. it's 47 in morgan hill, and now in san jose, it's 50 degrees. we're at 51 right now in oakland. seven-day forecast is up at the bottom of the screen, as we head over toward concord and it's going to start out with some low 50s. we will get more sunshine today and a few clouds mixing in early at noon. 68 degrees and we'll be up to 74 at 2:00 today. so our temperatures will be warming up fast. little bit more of some gradual warming as we check out our oakland forecast if you're on your way to the fruitvale b.a.r.t. station, another chilly one with some low 50s at 6:00

this morning, and then at noon we're at 62. here is a look at our highs for today, reaching into the upper 70s. couple of degrees warmer in a few spots for the inland areas. in concord today expect a high of 77 degrees. we'll be up to 71 in san jose, and 65 in san francisco. santa rosa will reach up to 73 degrees. so getting dressed this morning, because it is so chilly in some of the spots, you might need a hat along with your jacket and some light long sleeves for the rest of the day. if you're inland, you might have to roll they will uhm. let's talk about the weather setup and the changes over the next couple of days. the arrows show you the direction of the wind coming onshore and that's the reason why it's been a little bit cooler here. as we go to the middle to the end of the week high pressure builds and we won't have as much of an onshore flow. at times winds will be blowing offshore. temperatures will be heating up and it will be hot with some of our temperatures on friday and

saturday reaching the upper 80s in the valleys and then we see an area of low pressure developing over the pacific, but it carries the rain over toward the pacific northwest, but we will at least get a shift in the wind, and that's going to bring in some cooler air between sunday and monday, and of course, we're all looking ahead to halloween. looks a little bit cooler. so it won't be as hot with the kids wearing their costumes. as we look at our numbers here, it is going to feel like summer for a couple of days on friday and saturday especially. heading over to mike, watching out for road crews. >> also watching that 89 only the halloween party day for my daughter. cocoa county is great. no delays across that antioch bridge, benicia, carquinez. there may be a crew that remains there. there is a crew here southbound 880. we see speeds starts to change right now, they're moving those crews from the overnight roadwork with the 23rd overpass. you are off and back on but over

he saw this 2013 corvette tiles there had. he bought it. then he took it to his mechanic the next day. that mechanic found damage underneath, including scrapes and what he said were missing parts. phil complained to the dealer and it did $500 in repair work. to double check that work, phil took the corvette back to his mechanic, who found new damage. this time cracks to the corvette's fiberglass frame. phil says the mechanic suspected improper use of the lifters at the dealer's garage. so phil confronted the dealership. he asked for them to pay for those repairs, but he says the dealer declined to pay for those repairs. so he turned to us. we contacted mercedes-benz of stephens week but it didn't respond to us but phil says that very same day the dealer called him with an apology as well as an offer to fix the fiberglass, a $4,488.20 job. phil was smart to bring in an
