off-ramp? >> it sounds dramatic, kari. one we've been monitoring for close to an hour. not a lot of detail from chp or the sheriff's office out there. san mateo sheriff and chp are closing the off-ramp southbound 101 at woodside. what it sounds like from the sketchy details i have is that there may have been a brush fire near the wall and they're using that off-ramp staging some equipment in the area. you might have to loop back and traveling past the exit and looping back again over the next few minutes. we should hopefully get an update from chp or the sheriff's office, we're working both ends of the call. southbound 880 at 101 the traditional overnight roadwork should be cleared in the next 20 minutes as well. no problems through the maze. it's 4:31 and breaking news to tell you about, an intense search and rescue mission is unfolding after an indonesia plane crashes. >> the associated press is reporting officials are not expecting to find any survivors.

nbc news is working to confirm that. the brand new boeing 737 went down overnight shortly after takeoff from jakarta, headed for an island near sumatra. the flight was carrying 189 people. it was reported missing 13 minutes after takeoff. new video just in to our newsroom from indonesia's air force shows the area where the plane is believed to have crashed. searchers have found plane debris and personal items. the ap is also reporting some bodies have been recovered. the aircraft's black box data recorder was located, but it hasn't been retrieved. according to lyon air, the plane entered service just over three months ago. bob redell is following the story, gatheriytng new that com join us with a live report at 5:30. happening today, a san jose teacher accused in a strongarm robbery returns to court.

35-year-old charles so currently free on $65,000 bail. he was arrested in february in connection to a violent road rage incident. police say he had a loaded ha handgun in his possession at school when he was taken into custody. he passed a background check when he was hired. an intense day in fremont after police ended a standoff with an armed man. this happened late yesterday at an apartment complex on walnut avenue. people called police to say that there was a disturbance and they saw a man with a gun. police eventually got that man to give up themselves and took them into custody. one witness we spoke with says that he was trying to charge his electric car when officers came up to him. >> i ended up getting out. >> luckily here no one was injured in that incident. >> 4:33, now it our decision 2018 coverage, and san francisco opponents of proposition six, the gas tax hike repeal took to the streets in high heels and

patrol car. in a few hours, the city council is expected to approve a plan to allow the department to buy 30 more automated external defibrillators. the total cost there $60,000. to foot the bill, the city will use funds from the citizens options for public safety program and santa clara county. no one is seriously injured in taking this photograph but the coyote snagged on the fence is expected to make a full recovery. hard to look at. this is what vets tell our san diego station. someone saw it hanging out northeast of san diego in ram a ramona. it was rescued and taken in for treatment. they believe it up successfully tried to clear that fence, but it should be released soon. odt to free it. 4:36 for you. hopes of a brighter opening on wall street, what investors are looking at this morning. plus, if you're looking for

good morning, i'm frank holland at cnbc global headquarters. here are today's top business headlines. stocks could open slightly higher this morning following a turbulent week on wall street. markets slumped into the end of the week, following some disappointing earnings results from key tech companies that overshadowed some strong economic data. the dow dropped 296 points to

close at 24,688 in friday's session, while the nasdaq closed 151 point l at 7167. today investors will be keeping their eye on data, on personal income and consumer spending for september. i about, m is acquiring software distributor red hat to beef up its cloud division valued at $34 billion, the acquisition is ibm's largest deal ever and the third largest in the history of u.s. tech. in a joint statement, both companies said the deal would help businesses do more work in the cloud and keep their apps and data portable and secure across multiple clouds. and if you're looking for ove, get ready to open up your single people spend an average of 146 bucks a month. married couples came in last spending the least per month but at $54, theyer day. the survey also found a strong correlation between highernthly satisfaction. marcus and laura, back to you. >> that's why i'm always broke.

live look outside you get ready to head out in fremont, we have clouds rolling by, if you can get a look at the top corner of the screen and the seven-day forecast for the south bay, already coming up as we start out with temperatures for most of us in the mid-50s. we're at 55 degrees in san francisco. then look at the upper 40s for fairfield and napa. we're at 57 in antioch and san jose. now at 56 degrees. now as we go through the forecast throughhe commute in martinez, expect it to be inned mid-50s as well and we'll see it slowly warming up, 1:00 a s the sun comes out a microclimate is going to be up to 70 today in milpitas and up to 73 in morgan hill. headed toward the east bay, it will be 75 in pleasanton, and in oakland today 70 degrees. we have some low 70s for parts of the peninsula with palo alto reaching 70 there and daly city up to 63 degrees.

also 63 in ingelside and mission doctorate 67. 70 today in novato. as you're getting dressed this morning as you look out the window, it's a cool start, so you do need a nice warm jacket, and then maybe a hat, too, because our winds will be picking up as we go through the day, and then we will have a fire weather watch issue for all of our inland hills for the east bay as well as parts of the north bay hills and mountains, anywhere above 1,000 feet. that's where humidity will be dropping later on tonight, at about 9 to 19%, it's going to be very dry, and winds are going to pick up from the northeast up to 55 miles per hour, so that's going to cause a lot of problems and concerns. and then we're looking ahead to halloween. your trick-or-treating forecast for the bay, it will be mostly in the upper 60s, as you get ready to head out a the inland valleys reaching into the mid-70s for the middle of the afternoon, and then cooling down into the mid-60s, so not bad at all.

here is a look at our inland forecast closer to halloween. look how warm it will be. we're taking a break from the warmth and for the next couple of days but on halloween we'll be up to 82 degrees, and mike, you are 're tracking the mornin commute. >> surprise for folks, the update for the peninsula, while we have the closure for southbound 101 at woodside road, but as i'm talking, they may be reopening that off-ramp, even as we speak. there is a little brush fire on the shoulder there of the roadway so they had to stage their, fire trucks at the off-ramp. word was they're clearing th next few minutes. southbou approaching 23rd. i it see things jam up and start to move better. they may have moved and cleared at least a couple lanes southbound 880 at 23rd. it's your traditional overnight roadwo roadwork. if it is still closed and leaving a house in oakland that may be an issue, you have to go

4:56 on your monday morning. new this morning, southern california man due in court today after surrendering to authorities in connection with last year's deadly riots in charlottesville, virginia. the fbi says 38-year-old aaron eason turned himself in over the week heou men charged last week with traveling to incite violence. the group leader and two others were arrested last week. in all, eight members of the same white supremacist grouprec containing personal information of thousands of pharmacy patients was stolen from sack men toe based raley's. they became aware of the issue last month. the files contained information of 10,000 customers including names, gender, date of birth, health plans, member identification, medical condition, and pharmacy locations visited. the release said the prescription drug data for some patients was also on the laptop.
