but here in the foreground. we have folks slowing around where the camera is located. that's very early you see this amount of slowing. just past 680 we have three of the four lanes block ed. but that's also slowing because folks are moving to the right if they want to make that interchange. is this is an issue. there's a light pole down that originated with a pursuit starting over here down through san ramone. we hear that's where a car was pulled over and the car took off. chp went after the car and the driver. we're waiting for details. but the light pole down will mean they have to get out and help. things are pretty calm and typical sthere. we're following this very early backup for a critical part of the early morning commute. we'll follow that north of there

and the rst of freeways. that's the good news. >> we start out with a red flag warning. we see the areas shaded in red in a high fire danger as we go throughout the day. this is for elevations above 1,000 feet. our winds are gusty this morning. but the good news as et we start out the day, the humidity is fairly high. we will see the potential of lowering humidity throughout the d day. i'll have more on this and the full forecast coming up in just a few minutes. back to the breaking news we were telling you about. firefighters still on the scene in the south san francisco area at a house fire there. >> our crew just got to the scene. >> reporter: good morning to you. south san francisco fire may be wrapping up shortly as they are able to put out that fire a few hours ago. the damage done to this home on fairway drive, you can see a lot

of damage done to this home. we're told there were renters inside. it appears to have originated in the garage area. a lot of damage done to this home. let's show you video from earlier when there was a much different scene here in south san francisco. information i'm get. ing from the battalion chief is it happened roughly around 12:45 a.m. they got a call from a two-alarm fire. as i just showed our viewers, it looks like the fire originated in the garage area just by looking at it here in front of me. and again it's at least the fire was contained to the one home and didn't spread to others. but the bad news is we're talking about this home that's severely damaged and eight people are displaced. five adults and three kids. our crews was one of the first on the scene and talked to one of the adults. >> i smelled something. then i said maybe the kids are

cooking food and forgot to turn it off. so i checked out the kitchen. and i don't see anything. i saw the garage on fire. so i called 911. >> reporter: good thing fires got here fast because it burned through the gas meter. they were able to prevent the fire from spreading to other homes. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. we'll continue to stay on scene and have another update in the next hour. >> thank you very much, pete. 4:34. a mountain lion that caused quite a stir in the east bay, the animal was tranquilized last night after causing trouble at a busy office complex. nearby businesses actually forced into lockdown mode as police and wildlife officials

worked to corner that big cat. >> the animal was safely released back into the wild overnight. here's more on the catch and release. >> reporter: look very closely and you'll spot the big cat dubbed the pleasanton puma. it was a standoff, california fish and wildlife officers and police waiting for the drugs to kick in. overhead a drone using thermal imaging tracking his movement, but this was one wildcat who just wouldn't go down. by 7:30 police decided to go for shot number three. >> he was in the middle of the bushes. so getting a dart to go through the bushes without hitting branches was difficult. >> reporter: the drama began unfoelding just before 5:00 p.m. after the cat was spotted in an office parking lot.

workers were trapped in offices waiting to get police to escort them safely to their cars. then just after 8:00 p.m., a fourth round of tranquilizers officers moved in and found the puma was finally down and fast asleep. officers say the mountain lion is male, 9 to 12 months old, 75 to 80 pounds and appears unscathed. >> he looks good. as soon as we get going, we're going to get more time to check him out and see how he's doing. he seems to be okay. >> 4:36 right now. just seven days until the midterms. the governor's race is ramping up with both candidates trying to get your vote. they will be on the same stage today but not to debate. they will be guests at the round of breakfast club. they will talk to voters. the annual event spear headed by mayor brown starts at 7:30 this morning in san francisco.

polls showing leading a republican among likely voters 49% to 38%. it's 4:36 right now. four former bay area biotech workers face criminal charges. they worked in south san francisco. he had an indictment yesterday each accused of stealing trade secrets for a rival company in taiwan. authorities say three of the four defendants worked as consultants for that company. the fourth accused of working as a scientist there. all are out on bond and due back in court in two weeks from now. the search is on for this woman. the 55-year-old hit and killed a cyclist and may now be trying to flee the count o try. this is the van she was driving when she hit a 73-year-old man.

a boy remains in critical condition after being hit by a speedboat while kayaking. the 48 yoorld man was driving the boat when it slammed into that. the driver is under arrest. he had been drinking. it's up to the da to decide if criminal charges will be filed against the driver. coming up here on today in the bay, a new apple product could be released this morning. the company being tight lipped. coming up, what has the tech industry buzzing. plus a different look come ing to twitter that would take the hafrt out of your likes. a look at the possible change and why.

out any details about the event, reports say the tech giant could can release a new model of the ipad pro. it was released more than a year ago and there's a lot of speculation the new version could feature upgrades like facial recognition technology to unlock your ipad. reports suggest apple could release a new macbook laptop. and twitter may be thinking about ditching the like button. the ceo said at a twitter event last week he wasn't a fan of the heart-shaped button and would be get geting rid of it soon. twitter is pushing back on the report tweeting that the company is rethinking everything about the service including the "like" button but aren't planning to share updates yet. those are your business headlines. what do you think? would it be the same without the like button? >> i would like it without the heart.

some warriors fans - still good morning to you. a live look at dublin this morning. we're going to have a look at traffic and get you up to date. some warriors fans speechless or hoarse after last night's game. they are on fire, it does not describe clay thompson. he broke the nba record for three pointers in one game.

because we are in a microclimate weather alert because we have a high fire danger and that's going to be a major concern throughout the day. for all of these areas in red, elevations above 1,000 feet, we could see any small flame spread rapidly because the humidity will be dropping and winds picking up. as of now, we have some decent humidity. look at what happens throughout the day. the winds coming in from the north kind of drying things out. we're going to see the humidity levels dropping down to about 13% in napa. and look at the time. it's right in the middle of the day. 2:30 in the afternoon. we'll see humidity levels down to 15%. and even toward concorde we'll be in the teens as far as relative humidity. into tonight now, this is when humidity levels usually come up. for parts of the bay area, it does. for the inland valleys and hills, humidity levels will stay low into early tomorrow morning. some spots staying in the teens.

as you head out for your morning commute, all clear skies. temperatures in the 50s. as we look at the highs today, you'll be warmer in some spots with napa reaching 80 degrees. san jose topping out at 78 degrees. this is above normal for the end of october. as you're getting sdres dresed today, you want to start out with long sleeves with temperatures in the 50s. maybe a light t-shirt so you can pooel off the layers as the day goes along. he's a look at what's going on. you can see the high clouds moving into parts of the pacific northwest. we have the high pressure that's steering everything up and around the bay area. we're going to have warm weather. as we head into halloween, it will be in the 80s for the inland valleys and temperatures stay very warm through the rest of the frafrt. even was we fall back, setting the clocks back. it's time to do that.

that freeway? >> folks commuting in from the trivalley and east bay know that the critical portion of your commute. right here you notice everything else is green. that's the good news. the bad news is all that backup and you saw that mangled vehicle. we have westbound 580 with three miles of backup. that's jamming up already early on the commute here in toward the interchange. this crash is just past theers and change. so we're tracking the backup. dublin boulevard or stone ridge drive are options for you. you see from the live camera the traffic is starting to backup all the way over toward the interchange with 680. this is our live camera here. you saw the live pictures, the crew has just arrived as well. we have the backup. what's the latest. >> good morning, mike. i just spoke with chp. they are about to reopen.
