the eastbound side at the treasure island off-ramp. two lanes are opened. we're starting to see delays off this. we are seeing according to chp a car is fully engulfed in a fire. this is a crash involving two vehicles. if i switch over to our camera, you can sort of see some lights coming through. it looks like as of right now, they have not issued a sig alert. but because four lanes are closed off, this can cause heavy delays through the early morning hours. no time on when they're expected to clear this accident out. crews are on the scene and hopefully everybody is okay. i know folks want to knows, how is november looking in terms of the weather. let's send things over to kari hall who will get ta look at th weather. >> temperatures start out warmer than yesterday. 62 degrees the current

temperature in livermore. it's 62 in oakland. as you head out around walnut creek, we'll be in the mid-50s to start the day. heading into the mid-70s by noon. we are going to see some slightly warmer temperatures. that's coming up in a few minutes. new this morning, tricks on the street instead of treats. sideshows with dozens of cars shutting down south bay road. >> several arrests were made along the -- along with those cars impounded. bra "today in the bay's" kris sanchez joining us. >> reporter: you might be wondering, how dangerous was this for the family and children out for halloween festivities and trick-or-treating. this happened long after bedtime, but watch what was happening on san jose streets.

chp, san jose, santa claire county deputies busted three different sideshows in three intersections. the saving grace, all of this happened after midnight so most families and children out for halloween were long gone. this happened at gish road and interstate 80. on kertner avenue, there was a crash. san jose police caught up with a suspected sideshow driver who was trying to flee. that driver crashed but no one was hurt. in oakland on highway 101, several people were injured trying to get away from chp officers. that's just one person who is now in custody. chp took one person into custody and at least two people are in custody of the san jose police and headed to jail. multiple vehicles are now in the

impound lot and they'll be there for 30 days. sideshows happen in communities all around the bay area. you might remember a few weeks ago we showed these large disks contra costa county is going to use to make intersections more narrow and less appealing for drivers looking for space to do those stunts. if sideshows pop up and dissipate so quickly, you might wonder how it is officers were able to track these folks down. a lot of that help came from the air. we'll talk about that more at 5:30. we'll let you know that. the good news is they kept it off the roadways until really late at night and also kept those freeways wide open so none of the stunts planned for the freeways happened on the freeways. we'll tell you more about that on twitter and coming up at 5:30. kris sanchez, "today in the bay." now to the loss of a bay area legend. this morning the memorial growing at his feet, statue of

willie mccovey outside at&t park. the hall of famer giant died yesterday at the age of 88. willie mccovey entrenched in the bay area and baseball. >> he played his final game in 1980 but he was still revered. terry mcsweeney with a look back at the amazing life of willie mccovey. >> reporter: willie mccovey came up to the san francisco giants in 1959 and was an instant superstar. rookie of the year that year, most valuable player in '69, more than 500 career home runs. dina brought beads and candles to the statue at mccovey cove and a broken heart. >> he was a gentleman, a great baseball player. when you fall in love with someone when you're little and

you watch them grow old, yeah. >> reporter: mccovey, the legend, praised by legends. >> i used to sit in section 9, family section at candlestick. the right field wall was open to the parking lot. we would line up in the aisle and we knew he would hit a home run and we would all race to the parking lot. >> reporter: mccovey was a giant for most of his career and spent another two decades in the organization as an adviser. the giants have awarded the willie mac award. >> willie had -- sort of had it all. he had this warmth, this love for the franchise, love for the teammates and his love for the community. >> reporter: the city of san francisco paying tribute to the icon by turning other icons orange. the scoreboard at at&t showing his long retired number, 44. back at mccovey cove, the realization that time waits for no one, not even willie mccovey. >> my dad passed away a few

good morning. i'm leslie picker at cnbc's global headquarters. wall street will attempt to start out november on a positive note. the markets rallied on the final day of october but still posted a dismal performance last month amid worries about rising interest rates and trade. the dow rising 241 points yesterday, but it had its worst month since january 2016. the nasdaq closing up 144 points yesterday but saw its worst monthly decline since 2008. on today's watch list, reports on unemployment, productivity and auto sales, plus apple reports earnings. toyota and subaru are recalling more than 400,000 cars worldwide to repair a faulty engine part

that could cause a vehicle to stall while are driving. the recall affects some of subaru's most popular models including the forester suv and imprezza exact cars. subaru hasn't said how many were sold in the u.s. toyota is recalling the scion sports car of which 25,000 were sold in the u.s. between 2012 and 2013. twitter is taking steps to address two long-standing user complaints. it has new ways to report suspicious accounts, fake accounts or bots and specify what type of spam you're seeing. they have a new button to display tweets in chronological order. >> thank you, leslie. coming up next on "today in the bay," a look at the forecast for the 1st day of november.

the game. lakers and warriors, both wins last night. >> nice start. first day of november and it's going to be pretty warm. >> it's going to be really warm for november. and as he as we go into the next couple of days, just a slight cooldown. visibility is clear, skies are clear and our temperatures are warmer than yesterday at this time. the seven-day forecast for the south bay coming up at the bottom of the screen, as we get a look at our morning commute in antioch this morning, upper 50s heading out the door. as we go through the day, we'll see upper 60s, mostly sunny skies. you probably saw those clouds mixing in yesterday but there are high clouds to filter the sunshine. we'll see more of the same today as our high temperatures in east san jose reach up to 83 degrees. we'll see a high of 79 in cou cupertino and a lot of mid-80s.

summer-like weather. today is the peak for those temperatures. at the bottom of the screen, you can see it only comes down a few degrees. san mateo, 77. san francisco, back into the 50s for embarcadero and the mission district. for the north bay we're looking at mid-80s for today. so, as you're getting dressed this morning, you might need a sweater for those 50s and 60s we're feeling right now, but a summer dress to keep you cool as we're dealing with some summer-like temperatures. here's part of the reason why. we have this stubborn area of high pressure and the winds blowing around that high pressure keeps the skies clear. we get more of an offshore wind flow. you can even see in the direction of the clouds how those winds are flowing as well from the upper levels down to the surface. so, those high clouds moving in will give us at times a few clouds. we'll see mostly sunny skies. here's a look at our inland valleys high temperature reaching into the mid-80s. more 80s in the forecast. and on sunday morning or

saturday night before you go to sleep, set your clock back one hour and then we're looking at some very warm temperatures extending through at least the middle of next week. tracking a traffic alert for the bay bridge. >> unfortunately, that crash on the bay bridge has turned into a sig alert. chp issuing a sig alert. this is a two-vehicle car. a car is fully engulfed and only one lane open at this time. you can see our speed sensors are starting to pick up delays. the westbound side, i want to show you what that looks like as well. you can kind of make out, we're seeing bumper-to-bumper, slight slowing so expect some delays as of right now. crews are on the scene working that out but they don't have an estimated time on where they'll completely clear out all of those lanes. let's take a look at the

night. this is security video that captures those smash and grabs. you can see someone in the distance right there break into one of those cars with a flashlight there. then they break that window. taking valuables, hopping away in the getaway car. if you have any information, you're asked to call los gatos police. does flipping mean anything to you when it comes to riding b.a.r.t.? the practice is making for uncomfortable commute conditions. one woman snapped pictures of cushions flipped over. b.a.r.t. leaders say they're working hard to improve those conditions in part through more police and cleaning crews. it's a sight right out of the lord of rings. last night the salesforce tower resembled the eye from the fantasy trilogy. it may be payoff for the

several eastbound lanes of the bay bridge are closed after a car fire. this is having a pretty big impact on traffic. good morning to you. thank you for joining us. 1st day of november. >> let's get right to that breaking news. causing a lot of problems for traffic over in that yeah? >> definitely. unfortunately, this is part of your morning commute. you definitely want to head out the door early because chp has issued a sig alert. when they issue a sig alert, that typically means this could take a while to clear out. of course, there are already impacts, major impacts out on the roadway. this is along the eastbound side of the bay bridge right after the treasure island off-ramp. there was a two-car crash. chp says because of that crash, one car fully engulfed in flames and the crews are already on the scene working on it. we're already starting to see more red on there and the speed

sensors pick up on that slowing. since this has been reduced to one lane open, the cars are barely crawling by. expect heavy delays through that area. this is a live look right now at the bay bridge. you can see bumper-to-bumper traffic there. we can't necessarily make out the pinpoint location. if you're driving along the westbound lanes, this is not being affected at all. we see a smooth commute from there. westbound to the bay bridge you're looking at eight minutes. westbound on 92 to san mateo bridge, 13 minutes. as far as the rest of the bay area, i'm keeping a close eye on that and everything seems to be going great. but that sig alert can definitely be a major problem if that's part of your commute. head out now. i'll keep you updated as well. let's take a look at the weather with kari hall. >> we're starting out with clear
