back to you. >> thank you, mike. this morning, we have breaking news for you. firefighters are still on the scene of a ducti idestructive ot fire that burned an agricultural nursery in bay hill. >> kris sanchez, have you learned anything new in the last hour? >> reporter: this was a raging fire. the cal fire battalion chief in charge said he could see the flames from the highway as he made his way over to the area off monthry road. the flames are out but firefighters are poking through the embers of what was about 10,000 square feet of greenhouses. they are burned to the ground now. 4:50 for you right now.s wh came from paul pro tain tanks and trucks that burned in fire. the other good news here is there

as of now, just some rain coming through, and it will taper off as we go throughout the day. laura and marcus? >> thanks so much, kari. in the california state senate race, kevin deleon will cast his vote an elementary school, and his opponent senator dianne feinstein cast her vote in san francisco yesterday. back in july, deleon won the endorsement of the state democratic party, but that failed to translate into major financial support. recent polls show feinstein in the lead. today voters will be faced with decisions on several ballot measures. one of the most controversial is the gas tax repeal measure. it would repeal a 12 cent gas tax and increase in registration to fund road repairs. supporters of prop 6 say the cost of living in california is high enough as it is, while opponents say the funding is needed to help make road repairs and fund transit projects. one of the most divisive measures is proposition 10, voting yes means state law would

not limit rent control laws in cities and counties. instead, rent control authority would be established in each community. those opposing the measure saying it would make the housing crisis worse because it will would allow more fees on top of rent. those in favor say prop 10 woul of their homes, because it would control how much landlords increase rent every year. just into our newsroom, an unusual story outside of phoenix, arizona, where voters suddenly faced a surprise road block. it involves the building that you see in this video, with tennis on it, the organizers locked the doors overnight because the space was foreclosed on. we hear all the election gear is locked inside that building and precinct leaders may need a judge's order to open the doors. voters being asked to cast their ballots at city hall or one of the city's emergency voting centers. >> we hope it's smooth sailing for voting in the bay area. if you have a problem at the

shore freeway 26 minutes, recovering through richmond after an earlier crash. happy not only tuesday but election day. i wouldn't expect too much action on wall street today, not until we know what has happened with the election. restoration hardware is opening a restaurant in yountville today. facebook says it's ready to fight fake news. wall street good at making bets and the bs one party running one side of the capitol, and another party running the other side. facebook is ready for today's election, after criticism it did severe damage to the democratic process last time we held a nationwide election. facebook said last night it removed more than 100 accounts, 30 on facebook, 85 on instagram created by foreign actors. in a joint statement, the department of homeland security, the fbi and director of national intelligence warned americans

should be aware that foreign actors, russia in particular, continue to influence public sentiment, and voter perceptions through the actions intended to sew discord. it's worth pointing out though, president trump once again called russian interference a hoax, just last night. facebook said it banned the president's political ad talking about immigrants. many people saw the ad as entirely racist. facebook has banned it, fox news has banned it. nbc did run it on sunday night football but since changed its mind. nbc issued a statement that says "after further review, we recognnsitive nature of the ad and have decided to cease airing it across our properties as soon as possible." you can still see a longer version on twitter as well if you want to see what the controversy is about. >> sounds good. want to know who the sexest is man alive is? >> well, me. no? >> you guys are amazing. with oakland reaching 73 degrees. 79 in degrees today in livermore, and it's been very warm. we do have high pressure still influencing our weather. the winds flowing around that clockwise, so as we look at how those winds flow for the bay area, coming in from the north, very dry conditions, and not a chance of rain as a result, and the storm track still staying well to the north. i was hoping for this pattern to change next week, but it still loon looks like there is not a chance of rain even through the middle of the month as the high pressure stays entrempnched through the region. numbers well above normal with upper 70s and low 80s. more cool mornings dropping back into the 40s. san francisco even gets 40s there with highs only reaching up to about 68 degrees today. we'll talk more about this, but mike, you're also tracking a couple of slow spots. >> i am, but kari, i'm glad i can count how many trouble spots we have.

it's good news, because most of the bay still shows a smooth drive, but note at the bottom, we have this build over the last ten minutes, south bay freeways, 85, 87 and 101 all show more traffic volume and a dip to the speeds. i'm mostly concerned about this, it me out clear now., earlier we have slowing around the toll plaza. it's not so bad coming off the nimitz freeway. we have this late build. this is tuesday, we should be seeing the castro valley y really packed in, but there's a time change. today's voting day, some folks may be changing their morning schedule as a result. so just keep that in mind. we do have a considerable build over here for highway 37 out of vallejo. traditional mayor island holding steady for the upper east shore freeway. earlier crash cleared around san pablo avenue. i'm blocking one slow spot, the second, highway 4 which shows a lot of slowing. we expect this pattern through bay point but it's focused on the last 15 minutes right there,

the welcome back, everyone. mountainville police investigating a deadly accident near google headquarters at charleston and huff a little before 7:00 last night. police say that woman was struck by a vehicle at that intersection, that was closed for hours there so police could investigate. witnesses tell us a bus may have been involved. police so far are not giving out details on the driver or the identity of the woman who died. and new this morning, the ceo of alphabet self-driving car

company waymo is talking about an accident involving one of its cars that injured a motorcyclist. according to "the post" and waymo's block, the test driver had taken control of the car and was at fault, it happened october 19th car, forcing the test driver to move into the adjacent lane. the test driver never saw the approaching motorcyclist. tests later concluded, a crash would have been avoid, had the car stayed in self-driving mode. >> 6:23. turning back to election coverage, if you need a way to get to the polls, lyft is providing 50% off or $5 off a ride to the polls. uber is actually offering $10 off on the lowest cost uber option available in your city. lime is offering free rides on its fleet of dockless scooters and bikes. some east bay voters will weigh

new regulations for the budding marijuana industry. measure r would add a 4% tax on pot businesses in unincorporated contra costa county. supporters say the added revenues may reach $4 million per year and reduce crime tied to unregulated sales. opponents argue they could go toward county pension debts and send pot businesses to the black market. voters in half moon bay wile gg that would allow marriage nurseries to operate in the city under certain regulations. john muller supports that measure saying it could save his struggling pumpkin farm. he takes part in the iconic festival that draws thousands of tourists every year. those who oppose the measure say it will lure outside investors and draw federal scrutiny upon farm laborers. in honor of election day, ellen has welcomed her most trust the political analyst. >> it's an 8-year-old talking about her experience, going door to door in burbank to encourage people to get out to vote.

replace governor jerry brown. in the bay area, it will be a heated sheriff's race in santa clara county, and we'll be watching the oakland mayoral race closely as well. th bay area polls opening today, and nowe b is live in contra costa county, where workers are already busy at the local registrar's office. people are getting ready for the voters to file in. >> reporter: they are. good morning to you, marcus. polls here in cocoa county don't open for another 30 minutes but workers are here at the local registrar's office for the past 35 to 60 minutes getting the polls ready and making sure everything's up and running and put out any fires if need be, if there were a poll that was locked up or materials weren't available, just to be ready for that. so far everything seems to be running smoothly. things like that. there is one big change for election day, and we're talking

about across the bay now, in san mateo county, that is one of 35 counties nationwide, the department of justice will be monitoring in person. history the county has switched from a traditionapotionodel to an all ballot model, which means every registered voter in san mateo county now receives a ballot by mail. they can choose to mail it back in, drop it off at a voting center, or vote in person at the ballot box. >> it has basically increased voter participation across all voting blocks, and we're seeing an increase in voting as of today. we're over 100% in terms of ballots that have been cast at vote centers, compared to the june election, and we're clipping at about 40% higher in terms of the ballots that have been returned day-to-day. >> reporter: in san mateo county, they have about 500,000 people who are eligible to vote. 400,000 of whom have registered to vote.

custody. antioch police says the standoff ended around 2:00 a.m. and still unclear exactly how they're able to wrap things up. antioch police say it started on monday night with a domestic dispute call to the area, and that's when the suspect allegedly brandished a weapon and assaulted an officer, then barricaded himself inside of a home. at that point, s.w.a.t. teams showed up and about eight to ten homes where people were forced to evacuate that area. woman says the suspect pointed the gun at her brother-in-law, before allegedly assaulting the officer. now she says they're neighbors and apparently had a disagreement beforehand. here's what she had to say. >> next door neighbor just moved in about three months ago, so they're very new to the neighborhood, and there have been a few incidents apparently with the neighbor's son coming over and acting in a threatening manner. but then he would come and apologize.

>> we are tired, we're coming home from work, and we get up early to go to work also, so it's hard to be up at this time right now. >> reporter: the antioch police officer was released from the hospital, with non-life-threatening injuries. this case is still under investigation by antioch police. we're live here in antioch, pete suratos for "today in the bay." >> thank you, pete. one segment of highway 9 continues to be closed in santa cruz county. firefighters there are battling a stubborn fire in the rugged terrain. the rincon fire started saturday night. so far it's burned about 20 acres. last night, it was 45% contained, the fire is burning northeast of uc santa cruz. highway 9 is closed between golf club road in santa cruz and glengary road in felton. new for you this morning, a first for muni, the agency is appointing a woman as the new acting director of transit. julie kirshbaum will oversee a staff of nearly 6,000.

high pressure still well to the west of us and the winds flowing around that, give us a northerly wind and blowing offshore. as the winds pick up, we will have the concern of high fire danger, because this wind and this air is so dry. i was hoping that as we went through next week, we could see a change in this pattern, but really right now, it looks like that storm track still stays well away from the bay area, and we will continue on with some dry weather. so maybe toward the end of the month. we are looking at highs in the upper 70s and low 80s, as we look at the inland valleys. morning temperatures still chilly, and san francisco a lot of 60s and low 70s here through the next seven days. and mike, there was a traffic break in the north bay. >> there was. quick traffic break, but any time you stop traffic, you cause a break in traffic, there will be that ripple effect, right here south 101 around f reitas parkway, we see the traffic ee on our map as well curves anl the little ripple coming in toward san rafael. that's not bad. getting over from the richmond

we'll cut in with local results throughout the night. breaking news we've been following from morgan hill, where firefighters are still at the scene of a fire that joyed several greenhouses. it started early this morning on richmond avenue west of monthry road and highway 101 right down the road from coyote creek golf club. the fire destroyed about 10,000 square feet of greenhouses. they also found one building where it looked like someone may have been living, but they were gone by the time firefighters arrived. >> this morning, antioch police are clarifying that an officer was shot while rpo call, this happened last night near deerfield drive. police say that that officer was shot in the head, and was taken to the hospital. he is expected to be okay. the shooting led to a five-hour standoff with the suspect who is now behind bars. around eight homes in that area were evacuated during the standoff, but people in the neighborhood returned to their homes around 4:00 this morning. check your pantry before you bake. popular cake mix is being pulled
