good morning. i'm frank holland here at cnbc global headquarters. here are today's top business headlines. wall street looks like it's set to open up in the red this morning after stocks fell on friday. the dow snapping a four-day win streak on worries about slowing global economic growth, but the index still posted its best week since march. there is no economic data today, as the government is closed for veterans day, but look for reports this week on inflation and retail sales. microsoft is offering a steep discount on the xbox 1 console, leading up to and through black friday weekend, at $400, it's the lowest price ever for the system. while it's not surprising, microsoft will cut the price on the xbox for the holidays, it is notable just a year after the machine hit the market. sony is already selling the ps4
4:41 am
pro for 400, so this sale could be aimed as reeling in the buyers more focused on price. here is the most delicious story of the morning, kfc is bringing an all-time brunch great to the drive-through, starting today, the chain is offering chicken and waffles covered in mrs. butterworth's syrup, and offering it for breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout the end of the year. single order sells for $5.49. marcus, i think you're a combo meal guy, with potato wedges and a drink for $7.99. those are your cnbc headlines. >> frank, you know me. >> that's a mess through the drive-through, dripping waffles. >> i'm going to try it, too. >> not in my car. >> can you imagine? >> thanks, frank. >> thanks, frank. coming up next on "today in the bay," a cold start to the morning once again, kari. >> it is very cold out there again this morning, and we start out with some low visibility in spots due to not only smoke, but some patches of fog, and then

4:43 am
4:44 am
4:44 for you right now. back to our breaking news in southern california.
4:45 am
at least two massive wildfires are burning this morning in los angeles, in ventura counties, the woolsey fire charred nearly 85,000 acres and is 15% contained. >> at least two people are confirmed dead, sadly, and firefighters three already injured. the hill fire is also burning nearby. both are prompting thousands to be evacuated. nbc bay area's jay gray live in westlake village, california, joins us with the latest there. good morning, jay. >> reporter: hey there, good morning, laura, good morning, marcus. we want to give you a firsthand look at what the fires are doing. here you can see burned out areas like this look almost like the surface of the moon or something. it's desolate, covered in thick, gray ash and these wildfires continue to burn out of control right now. the flames growing and on the move again in the california hills. >> the winds have returned.
4:46 am
>> reporter: the santa ana winds gusting 30 miles an hour breathing life into the fire. >> it's just total devastation. >> reporter: at least two people have died in the woolsey fire near los angeles, which, along with the hill fire in ventura county, has collared close to 90,000 acres. >> i can tell you that we are still in evacuation mode. the cities of hidden hills, westlake village, agoura, calabasas and malibu are still under evacuation. >> reporter: more than a quarter million ordered out of the zone as firefighters continued to rush in. on the ground, the fight with mother nature hand to hand combat. those strike teams, getting support in the air from choppers and tankers dousing hot spots, a
4:47 am
battle expected to continue, along with the winds here, for the next several days. and unfortunately forecasters are saying, laura and marcus, the santa ana winds will continue to gust at least through tomorrow evening, if not longer. >> and that makes it so tough for the firefighters who have got to be getting exhausted as well, jay. >> reporter: yes. >> jay gray, thanks so much. >> reporter: no you're absolutely right, they are getting some support -- you bet. >> i didn't mean to cut -- i think it was a delay, we're cutting each other off there. thanks so much. it's so hard to see, the images behind him there. >> that's what we were seeing not only there, but of course around the camp fire as well, and we're monitoring all of this, as it continues, and those winds will be picking up at times over the next couple of days. it's still very dry, and as we head out the door this morning, you can see the smoke blanketing the bay area, so we do have another spare the air alert day, unhealthy air quality, and i think a lot of people will be
4:48 am
changing their outdoor plans based on the smoke and the poor air quality today. now, we do still have all of these areas shaded in red, the extreme fire danger and the red flag warning that continues this morning, and that goes until 7:00 for parts of lake and mendocino counties, and also up toward the north, and then as we go throughout the rest of the day, we should see the winds calming down just a bit. we are looking at still some very low humidity, where we see humidity levels below 15% will be these areas shaded in red, and slightly higher humidity from parts of marin county, extending over toward cocoa county throughout the day, and then where we still see the critically low humidity will be up around lake county, as we go into the rest of the day, and then the winds kind of shift, which will change our air quality. we're stepping out the door to freezing temperatures in parts of the bay area, especially farther to the north, santa rosa just one degree above freezing, and then we have 54 in half moon bay and 44 in san jose, so just
4:49 am
depends on where you are and how cold it is this morning, and napa, right now 26 degrees colder this morning compared to yesterday. well, that's also a sign that the winds are starting to calm down, and then we're looking at highs for the south bay reaching into the low 70s. we'll be up to 71 degrees in danville today, and in walnut creek 68. also 68 in oakland, 68 in san mateo, and in palo alto. some mid-60s for san francisco, and also some upper 60s for parts of the north bay. so as you're getting dressed this rpg m this morning, you need a coat, it is chilly to start and maybe a scarf that could double as something that could help you out if you're kind of getting irritated by all of the smoke and then of course, we've got our monday night football game tonight at levi stadiuidlevi's will be in the upper 60s, with temperatures cooling off quickly and patches of fog and also the smoke in the air. we'll continue on with some dry
4:50 am
weather, but we have something that looks a little bit better in the forecast, possibly a change in our pattern and a chance of rain toward thanksgiving, so i'll talk more about that. now, mike, overnight crews, are they still out there working? >> they are, kari, even though a lot of folks are not working today. we have our crews and talking about the air quality. worried about everybody and the activity. we'll look at where some of that is, in the south bay, you saw the green sensors around our map but there's a little change right here. this is quite a stretch of 17, it's marked as closed but it's right at lark where the big issue is for drivers that are forced off the freeway and a detour to get back on to southbound 17, clearing probably in the next 10 to 15 minutes, right on schedule. heard about no delays down there and this one we've been talking abo about, southbound 880 at 2rd, the bridge work they're doing until 5:00, picked up probably speeds recovering about 5:15. the bay bridge toll plaza, this live look shows you what kari has been talking about, the smoke, we felt it, folks, over in oakland, where there's a lot

of spoke moke in the air and th veterans day canceled in antioch, check your activities for today and make sure if they are outdoors, they are still on schedule. concerns for folks health reasons all over the bay. here is the southbound direction of 101, a little glow for the lights as well, that smoke will be visible as the sun comes up, but so far, the drive is just fine through the north bay. back to you. >> thanks, mike. 4:51 right now. our diseased streets investigation made national headlines after we exposed a dangerous mix of feces and needles across parts of the san francisco. >> the new mayor promising big changes after taking office, so did she follow through? senior investigative reporter bigad shaban has that story. >> reporter: good morning. walking the streets of san francisco isn't just disgusting, it's also potentially dangerous. so what's changed since mayor london breed took office? tonight at 11:00, we investigate to find out just how much filth there really is. we canvassed parts of the city,
4:52 am
looking for trash, feces and needles. the mayor promised a cleaner san francisco within three months of her taking office. so we're here walking the streets to find out if she made good on that pledge. we will show you what we found, anddirectly from the mayor, what does she think about the result? plus we go walking downtown with an expert on infectious diseases. what goes through your head walking the streets of san francisco? >> what goes through my head is that there's contamination under my feet. >> reporter: we'll tell you why she thinks san francisco is in danger of an outbreak. that's all tonight at 11:00, when we revisit san francisco's diseased streets. >> do you have a tip for our investigative unit, something you want them to check out, give them a call, 888-996-tips or logon to their website, our website in fact, nbcbayarea.com/investigations. coming up next on "today in the bay," "nbc bay area responds."
