the only ones we have incidents, south 880 an earlier crash with a truck and small sedan. i drove by and saw the sedan out of the lanes so no problems there. we'll zoom up toward hesperian, the off-ramp reported closed because of a small fire, may be a brush fire or structure fire. there have been no big alerts or problems over the last few minutes, but thistil other 15 m. the cocoaou freeway, r now, the fire fight is far from over in butte des toll from t death toll from the camp fire is at 48, dozens are missing. 130,000 acres charred, turning homes and buildings into rubble. in total nearly 9,000 structures

contained. the cause of the fire remains under investigation. in the wake of those wildfires, a new emergency alert system is out. san mateo county just releasing this, take a listen. >> this is an important message from the san mateo county alert system. >> now it's called scm alert and it's the first to statewide law for emergency alerts. that system allows emergency officials to send texts and social media alerts when disasters strike. turning to other news, police are searching for acers cowers was last seen during the game at levi stadium. his girlfriend said they were visiting the bay area with their two children. he went to the bathroom in the fourth quarter and never came back. she tried texting and calling him and waited for car, but he never showed up. >> he never got a chance to talk to us, like after we made it back to the hotel, didn't know where me and the kids were, he wouldn't have disappeared and

temperatures this morning make way for all of that. >> it's freezing in parts of the bay area this morning. it is cold for some of us headed out the door and so as we take a live look in dublin, a lot of people already out the door and you can tell from this shot it's smoky. our air quality will be unhealthy for the north bay as well as the peninsula and san francisco. the inland east bay as well as the south bay will be moderate and santa clara valley still unhealthy today. that smoke alert continues through friday night. now yesterday, we saw the clouds that kind of trapped some of the smoke. gonto the afternoon, therewe and look at these numbers now. in santa rosa, we are at 32 degrees and it's 42 in oakland and 42 in san jose and san francisco, now at 46here throug and see the temperatures start to head up toward the low 50s by late this morning. here is a look at our south bay high temperatures for today.

los gatos 68 degrees and 70 in morgan hill. upper 60s and low 70s for much of the inland east bay. oakland today 67 degrees, and 67 also in palo alto. daly city reaching 64 and 66 in the mission district. the north bay reaching 71 degrees. ukiah with mill valley only about 61 degrees, and then as we look at our forecast, this shows the wind direction that will still be coming in from the north, so it's bringing in the wildfire smoke and our unhealthy air quality. by saturday the winds come up from are the south as a weak disturbance approaches the coast. we are going to see a change and a shift in our wind direction, and then going into next lookid with our rain anoue of rounds o ing in between thursday and friday, so our rain chances are still looking really good, so some great news as we head toward the end of the forecast. but we're still going to be dry

over the next few days, and that offshore wind keeps it warm with highs in the low 70s inland. morning temperatures very chilly, with some upper 30s and low 40s, and san francisco looking at mostly some 60s throughoutg a second overnight closure. >> that's right, kari. the first closure i reported over here hesperian 880 northbound opened the off-ramp, a little fire, whatever was going on, the off-ramp has been cleared from the chp report, so full access through san lorenzo. the bottom of the screen we'll zoom into it, southbound 17 at crews scheduled to clear by about 5:00. so another 15 to 20 minutes, we'll give smoothly. the off-ramp there, what we're the speed indicator is affecting tracking. no problem over the summit to or from the south county. overhere, the east shore freeway great drive, 13 minutes from highway 4 to the backup at the bay bridge toll plaza. just a few folks waiting in cash

and good wednesday morning to you. take a live look outside sfo right there. getting ready to go, but before you head out the door, make sure you have a coat with you. kari will talk about the forecast in a bit. thanks for starting your morning here with us. i'm marcus washington. >> and i'm laura garcia. let's get straight to that forecast. i'm already putting layers on. >> it's been so cold the past few mornings. i was like, i don't want to turn on the heat in the house, but i had t do i did it. it's fairly cool out there, and then here is a look at the poor visibility that we're seeing from our emeryville camera, looking at the bay bridge. air quality will still be unhealthy today. slight impro east the south bay and still trapped in santa clara valley, so unhealthy air quality there, with a lot of smoke coming through. concord starts out in the upper 30s, then it does warm up fast.

we'll be up to 57 by 10:00. we'll look at our microclimates coming up. you told me there was a traffic alert in the north bay. >> the good news is it's not the commute direction, novato down to san francisco. that part of the north bay can be critical as things get st hanging north up toward santa rosa out of rohnert park. chp closed the freeway because of a fire. there's an overturned double big rig truck there, a u.p.s. truck is on fire in the north bay. concerned about any fires in the area so we're tracking this. we have a reporter heading up there as well. north 101 remains closed at railroad avenue. take railroad toward old redwood highway north, heading upnt out. the rest of your commute shows an easy drive, no problems, just that roadwork at lark off of southbound 17. back to you. >> thank you, mike. 5:00 right now.
