welcome to "today," nice to have you with us on a wednesday morning. >> just when you couldn't get worse, yet another wildfire breaking out out west. this devastation in overnight as hoda mentioned. this one's outside of los angeles, dozens already have died, thousands of homes have been destroyed. nearly 250,000 acres burned overall, just to put that in that's more than five times larger than washington, d.c. let's begin our coverage this morning. nbc national correspondent miguel almaguer is there. good morning to you. >> reporter: good morning. this is what so many people are waking up to, homes that are destroyed block after block. the total number of homes destroyed across california now numbers roughly 9,000 and despite all of this destruction, firefighters say they are slowly making progress. arly0% contained, but still this morning, tens ofus

new york, we've got winter storm watches, advisories and warnings and we've got flood watches alonto we're watching all this. its a double barrel system. low-pressure developing. by tomorrow morning, washington, d.c. you've got a mix of ice, snow and rain. some snow, an icy mix back toward the interior. heavy snow in the interior. rain and flooding along the coast. so here's what we're looking at as far as these impacts. look at this. four to six inches of snow back through the mississippi river valley. we're looking at light snow along the i-95 corridor but heavy wet snow inland. icing is a big, big problem for the schenn doa valley. we're talking anywhere from a half to three quarters of an inch of ice, downed trees and power lines and heavy rain. saturated soil, major delays especially down through the southeast anywhere from one to four inches of rain and this snow is really unusual for this time of the year. rare november snow, washington,
