welcome to monday morning. hope you had a great weekend. live look outside, looking up at the s curve up in san rafael, north bay, this morning. the air still bad out there, but not as terrible as last week, making some progress in that department this morning. lot to fill you in on, good morning and thanks for joining us. i'm laura garcia. >> and i'm marcus washington. let's get to meteorologist kari hall with a look at what we can expect today. >> it's still unhealthy as far as the air quality and we're still in our microclimate weather alert astomorrow. the smoke still incoming storm, so we have storm ranger, our mobile doppler radar. you can see the red scan assyst set to move in on wednesday. as of now, it's still on its way and we still have some pretty

good rain chances, with throughout the week. i'll have more on that and the timing and how much, coming up in a few minutes. mike gets us out there on the roads. any issues yet? >> a couple of smaller crashes. the one i'm concerned with is over in san francisco, getting off of the bay bridge at the fifth off-ramp at harrison, a crash that may affect folks as they're getting on to city streets. you should be out of your freeway speeds by then but a note for folks who may be thinking about work and the roadway, always concentrate on that. right now we're looking at the roadway on the east bay as well. ontra blems, the bay bridge toll costa county, there's alame da county and oakland hilovth bay working to contain the camp fire attribute county. >> the death count stands at 77, still 1,000 unaccounted for. search teams are taking on t ofe charred landscape for remains.

the mission is taking on a new urgency as rain is forecast for the area. it could complicate the search efforts but bring some relief for firefighters. the camp fire now 65% contained, up 10%. 150,000 acres have burned. flames destroy more than 10,500 homes. "today in the bay's" sergio quintana was in paradise with a sign of unity from the fire zone. ♪ >> reporter: at the first christian church in chico, an evening of song and prayer. >> when i go up to paradise to go visit friends, i drive by there, and just remember the good times. now it's gone. >> reporter: this congregation made up of chico residents who wanted to support their friends don't know if their homes survived. thousands have spent the last several days at temporary shell terse, their friend's homes, and local hotels. at the newest doesn't know if

everyone he knows survived. >> a friend of mine is on the missing list, so i don't know about him. butd hink. >> reporter: they had been staying at a temporary tent village at the walmart in chico, which was supposed to be cleared out. he says he prefers the new site in ridley. is this just a little more organized? >> yeah, and more secure. >> reporter: volunteers from across northern california have been helping sort clothes and pet supplies here. >> we have two trucks like this. >> reporter: min ha led a group from san jose who donated suitcases and nearly $40,000 in gift cards. why. tell me well, because -- that'. there's a lot of reasons why, because i putys fire were once refugees from vietnam, so they know what it's like to have nothing and they wanted to help people rebuild. sergio quintana, "today in the bay." >> and down in southern california, firefighters are gaining the upper hand on the

woolsey fire. it is now 96,000 acres and 91% contained. the homeowners in los angeles and ventura county are returning to ash and rubble. more than 1,100 structures were destroyed. three people died during the woolsey fire, including two found in a car and one in the rubble of a burned out home. three firefighters have also been injured. another bay area tragedy, grieving students plan together to remember one of their own, killed in the tragic house fire. the 16-year-old girl died early necessary morning in orinda. she's not been identified but friends tell nbc bay area the victim is lucia guerros a home was fully engulfed by the time they arrived. discover the origin and what do a job to they were. right now there's no information available. >> three people were injured, including a firefighters.

sources say the girl's parents were out of town. bob redell will join us with a live report in our 5:00 hour. san jose police are investigating a double homicide. officers found a man and a woman who had been shot inside of a home on pineland avenue early yesterday morning. the woman was pronounced deaded athe scene. the man was taken to the hospital where he later died. no arrests were made and police aren't releasing a motive. an employee accused of murdering the ceo will be in court today. police found bart klystra dead inside his market street office. his company makes electric wheelchair equipment. police say the suspect, kim cook, worked for the victim, who had accused him of embezzling $100,000. investigators reportedly say cook tased the ceo, and then beat him to death. 4:36 "today in the travelers, as it begins, you're bay," somoo looking to save some money, if you're traveling by road, as the

good morning. i'm frank holland here at cnbc global headquarters. wall street looks like it will open up higher, despite a positive day on friday, the markets are coming off steep losses last week, with the dow

dhe nasdaq dropping by more than 2%. that was mostly due to a downturn in tech stocks such as apple and facebook. on today's watch list, economic data on the housing sector. and some good news for drivers, as they hit the roads for the thanksgiving holiday. prices at the pump are coming down. the latest data shows the average price of regular unleaded dropped 12 cents over the past two weeks, down to $2.72 a gallon, and the bay area, gas is much higher, unfortunately, averaging $3.82 a gallon. analysts say falling oil prices are the main reason for this decline. gas prices are still about 11 cents higher than they were a year ago. and if you need something to help balance your turkey fix this week, wendy's has a tasty offer through friday. you can get a free junior bacon cheeseburger with any purchase through the wendy's app. the offer resets daily so you can use it more than once. wendy's are selling french fries for more than $1. you can get a free junior frosty

and good morning to you. taking a live looko go, with this week, something to look forward to. it was a great week to understand catch a movie because of the air quality. new number one at the box office, "fantastic beast: the crimes of grindelwald" topped the list a magical $62 million. in second place "dr. seuss the

grinch" and it features the benedict cumberbatch as the voice of its grinch and wrapping up third is "bohemian rhapsody." i'm a big queen fan. can't wait to get to the weather today. >> it's a busy week, thanksgiving, big travel day, and we are getting our first major rain of the season. >> oh, you're excited! >> now we know what kari ke this is the reason why, it's been so bad. the poor air quality, the smoke coming in from the amplifier, a -- camp fire, and we're looking forward to the improvements. up healthy in walnut creek, san francisco levels over 200 and most of the bay area over 100, so we talk about these numbers, how much particulate matter is in the air. once again, spare the air alert

days are issued when it's over 100. we're still in this unhealthy category, but we're coming down from the very unhealthy we were seeing over the weekend and last week as well. looking at storm ranger, this is our mobile doppler radar. we can see the red scan here. we have it fired up, ready to go to track this next storm system set to move in next week. here is a look at the clouds, where the stormereeeing a weak moving across southern california that will push more clouds our way today and then the rain that we're expecting still get here, we will see moreed of those clouds moving in, but once again, this initial amount of clouds and the clouds that we're seeing for today will be because of that disturbance that won't bring us any rain. through wednesday, here is our time frame, 7:30 in the morning and we're starting to see the light rain moving in across the bay area, and this is once again a big travel day, and it will bring in at times some gusty

winds and the rain, kind of off and on throughout wednesday. on thursday, the rain starts to taper off. thanksgiving looks dry in the afternoon, and then another round comes in for the north bay, between thursday night and friday. the rest of the bay area getting a little bitrain, but our air quality is going to improve. if you're planning to go to the sierra for the next several days, keep in mind that this rain will bring in some sierra snow and it's going to be pretty significant, as we look at this computer model that is showing how much snow we could see possibly twoerra. really great news there, as we still track our smoke and are well above normal temperatures through the inland areas through the next few days, off and on rain from wednesday through sunday and our temperatures are going to be cooling off as well. we'll be talking more about that and mike, you're tracking a few minor crashes. >> i am, but you got my attention. you said up to possibly two feet, kari. that sounds awesome.

we're watching that for the snowfall. right now, no rain or snow. crash southbound 680 a crash reported no details coming in and no slowing so we'll move to the south bay, where e for 17so. we have that construction work that should pick up over the next few minutes. top of your screen here south 880 at 237, reports of a car that got a flat tire and spun out. sounds like the slow lane is currently blocked by a crew there assisting, so be careful at that transition. over here transition off of the bay bridge, we have that crash reported at the fifth off-ramp. as you get on to harrison, that's where the crash is located and we don't have any slowing across or on the bridge itself. that's a smooth drive. we see from our smoothly. we can see the tower and there's right where you would go into the treasure island tunnel and we lose sight of things. there's a lot of haze, a lot of junk in the air for the air quality. just be careful for your outdoor activities. if you're taking a ride, you should be okay, just keep the masks if you have them.

remember, there is a certain number of hours. i heard about eight hours but if you're wearing that mask for a couple of days, you have to replace that, the n95. no delays for any systems. caltrain is restored in the city. >> thanks, miight now. this morning, new action by ac transit following an nbc bay area investigation. >> here is senior investigative reporter vicky nguyen talking about making drivers safer behind the wheel. >> the next time you board an ac transit bus, you might notice surveillance monitors that show you're being recorded and plexiglass shields on some buses now being tested to protect drivers. the district is making major ch declining. during a recent board meeting the safety director acknowledged our findings. drivers say they've been asking for these changes for years. >> i honestly believe they're making an honest effort after knowing. sometimes the hardest thing to know. >> reporter: tonight, how ac is working with law enforcement to protect drivers and riders. hope to see you tonight at

right now: welcome to mop morning. taking a live look outside, folks headed out the door to work, over in richmond this morning. mike is keeping tabs on the monday morning commute for you. we'll talk to him coming up, 4:54. right now, three firefighters are recovering after getting hurt battling the fire in santa cruz county. those men tried to get away from the falling tree, while fighting the buzzard fire yesterday. thankfully, none of their injuries were too serious. the fire broke out near buzzard lagoon where they were able to keep the fire to a couple of acres. as for right now, the fire is 50% contained. this morning, the 1971

picasso painting was snatched from a museum in the netherlands in 201, along with six other masterpieces. a romanian fiction writer living in tnymous tip. described the exact location she got an unsigned letter that where she could find the picasso, under a tree. romanian prosecutors say they are investigating the case. experts will study the drawing to decide whether it's real, although some have already expressed skepticism. the painting is worth almost $1 million. black friday is just days away and this year, some retailers are worried that sales could slow. in the past, black friday was actually after thanksgiving, been one of the busiest shopping days of the year. however, online deals arriving earlier each year, some stores are worried that the shopping frenzy won't be what it once was. retail experts say that black friday is still expected toe one of the busiest shopping days of the year. >> 4:55 right now. how does coach condoleezza rice sound for one professional football team?

close to freezing in parts of the north bay. we'll talk more about the rain coming up, in a few minutes and mike, you have more detail on the crash in the tri valley. >> that's right, a crash involving a dump truck. it was over here southbound 680, reports of a dump truck and another vehicle on the shoulder and reports of a second vehicle with some sort of fuel leak. i think it's a second vehicle. they most be there at 0680 and andrade. stay over to your left, likely in the slow lane or the shoulder there. we have no problems coming off of the castro valley -- off the dublin interchange. the castro valley y got my attention, we see a little slowing. there may be a slow-moving 238 and 580, there's no construction as far as caltrans notified, we'll let you know. if you hear anything, let me know, hit me up on twitter. no problem for contra costa county toward the bdge d crash
