this week. you'll remember that san jose state canceled classes thursday and friday last week because the air quality was so bad. the university also handed out masks to students, and staff, and urged people to spend their time inside and to avoid strenuous activity outside. this week, the advice stands, but the classes are in session. san jose state statement reads in part "retruly respect the thoughtful perspectives that were shared by many sjsu students and other university community members. decisions to close a university campus are never made lightly. we made the decision to close the air quality index levels were approaching the very unhealthy above 200 range. since that time, the levels have dropped markedly." they have improved, at 3:00 the air quality was at 16 and the cancellation came at 200, so definitely below and as kari said improving just a bit. classes are canceled at uc

we have to give them the heads up that there is going to be some snow toward the end of the week, and it's a busy travel week, and we start out this morning with still some unhealthy air quality, but it's not in the 250 to 300 range like we were seeing last week, but it's still really bad to be out there, and we are looking at still some purple numbers here, levels over 200 for parts of the east bay as well as san francisco, and over toward san rafael. the rest of the bay area seeing some unhealthy air quality. these numbers are a measure of how much particulate matter is in the air. all of the things that are floating in the air because of the wildfire smoke that's unhealthy to breathe in, and we are in this range where it's unhealthy levels from 151 to 200. very unhealthy are the purple numbers that are over 200. only thing that will help improve our air quality will be a shift in the wind, which will most likely be caused by some incoming rain. we're going to see that. we have storm ranger, our mobile doppler radar powered up and

ready to go to track the rain that will be here, most of the bay area on wednesday. as we look at where it is now, we have a weak disturbance moving into southern california, that's going to push some clouds our way. no rain as of yet, but you will notice more clouds today, and then our round of rain gets here on wednesday. we can see that on the satellite imagery, as that system approaches, and once again partly to mostly cloudy skies as you get ready to head out this morning, but looking at the timing of the rain, here we are on wednesday, early in the morning, we start to see the first rounds of rain moving in, mostly some light showers. it will be off and on throughout the day on wednesday, and then tapering off on thursday, on thanksgiving, we'll have a dry afternoon, but then another round moving in for the north bay, working its way to the south throughout the day on friday, and there still may be lingering showers on saturday. how much rain are we going to get? the computer models are still trying to hammer down the details, but we're looking at for the next seven days, the

potential of getting an inch of rain or close to an inch in san jose, much higher amounts for parts of the north bay. ukiah could get over 3 1/2 inches of rain with several rounds moving in, and the rest of the inland forecast is going to be cooler, breezy, off and on rain once again starting on wednesday through friday, ending on saturday. san francisco still smoky the next couple of days, until that rain moves in on wednesday. mike, you're tracking the backup on the bay bridge. >> on the bay bridge. we have that issue on the san francisco side and just before our commercial, we showed you folks were stacking up on the incline getting toward that tower, and the treasure island tunnel. now, looks like they're moving a little bit better, but no, the last couple of seconds i've seen that backup form once again. what may be going on, as we show you the map, the crash i'm tracking is over on the san francisco side, and you see the slower drive. the camera was picking up the traffic about here and i see some backup forming at the bay bridge. i think the metering lights are turned on early because of the
