welcome to monday morning. taking a live look outside by san rafael, big "s" curve feels like win iter is upon us. it's a cold start to our monday. cyber mop as well. i'm laura garcia. >> and i'm scott mcgrew. we have traffic getting back to work, the regular work week, but as laura says, it's chilly out there. >> it is chilly this morning as you step out. we're getting ready for an approaching storm system. we have one more day of the dry weather before the rain arrives. as we look at storm kraranger, mobile doppler radar showing the clouds rolling in. live look downtown san jose, the christmas in the park lit up there. evergreen in the upper 40s stepping out the door and we'll

have temperatures about normal this time of year with low 60s. mike, there's one crash sticking around. >> you showed christmas in the park, we lit that up on friday night and it's still going. highway 87 is where we have one crash that's sticking around. no major injuries. no major slowing but we do see the activity still on the chp blotter, 87 just about highway 101 northbound 87 just before the merge. meanwhile the rest of the south bay drive and the rest of the bay looks great. this backup just formed at the toll plaza. we have the lanes off to the left and right, both showing a few backups but notice they don't have all the cash lanes open and that is typical about now. we'll watch the volume and see how that return to work traffic builds up. back to you. mike, breaking news to the south of us, one of the busiest bordder crossings back open today. >> president trump posted

that allows some car burglars to escape consequences. our investigative team found out there were nearly 30,000 break-ins in the city last year. happening today, lgbtq community members plan to hold a solidarity picket with marriott strikers today. they will march outside the marriott on fourth and market in san francisco this afternoon. workers are demanding higher pay and better working conditions. marriott says it's provided millions of jobs in the u.s. and around the world. they say, though salaries vary marriott pays more and provides generous benefits. workers disagree. coming up on "today in the bay," apple going before the supreme court, the anti-trust fight that could affect the way you get apps. and the big items everyone's clicking on today, cyber monday. we'll leave with you a live picture out there, that is the golden gate bridge. looks like traffic has not started up yet. we're back to a regular work week. we're glad you're with us. you're watching "today in the bay."

good morning, i'm frank holland here at cnbc global headquarters. here are today's top business headlines. wall street looks like it will open sharply higher this morning. the markets fell on friday as big tech stocks came under a lot of pressure again, and oil prices plunged on continued worries about too much supply and not enough demand. the dow, the nasdaq and the s&p 500 all had their worst thanksgiving week since 2011, and the dow had its worst performance on a black friday since 2010. on the watch list this week,

reports on housing, consumer confidence and third quarter gdp. apple going before the supreme court to defend the way it sells apps against claims by consumers it's unfairly dominating the market. th it could cut the 30% commission it charges developers as apps are sold exclusively through the company's app store. apple says it doesn't own the apps or sell them but the lawsuit claims apple has a lot of control over the process, including a requirement that prices end in 99 cents. consumers may click their way into the record books today. cyber monday is expected to generate sales of $7.8 billion, that's billion"b" that would be up about 18% from just a year ago, and would make it the biggest online shopping day in the u.s. retail experts say electronics are big items on cyber monday as stores offer better deals on laptops, game consoles and other devices than they do on black

and the missing, still only getting started. >> as it stands, there are 85 confirmed deaths, close to 300 people still are unaccounted for but one colorado company assisting in the grim task of identified discovered human remains. the company used rapid dna testing. the chief operating officer, jim cave davis, says he reached out to the butte county sheriff to offer to help, but the job is difficult for everybody. >> for somebody to give a dna sample, they're making a decision about what they think, you know, happened to their loved one. >> in less than two hours, davis says his company's technology can analyze the dna samples which can help identify the victims. government leaders are trying to make sure california's emergency alert systems are efficient and helpful. tomorrow, members of the state assembly will meet near santa barbara to discuss emergency alerts. the hearing will discuss lessons learned from recent fires, as well as trying to figure out ways to improve the system. if you want to help camp

we have snow in the sierra. >> quite a bit of it, and now we're getting ready for more snow in the sierra and bay area rain. our next system set to move in, we can see it on storm ranger, mobile doppler radar tracking clouds starting to approach the state and the rain farther to the north. we have another day of some dry weather. the rain returns tomorrow, and then there will be a stronger storm moving in late on wednesday night into thursday, and that wind will be kicking up at times, also some heavy mountain rain, and the increasing surf that will be affecting the coast. as you get ready to out will you need a nice warm jacket and some long sleeves to keep ven some 40s. you comfortable for the rest of the day. so we are going to see an increase in cloud cover today, but no rain, and then for tomorrow, here we are at 7:30, and we start to see the showers approachi approaching some of our northern cities in ukiah, santa rosa, and then that starts to move into the central part of the bay area by 1:00 in the afternoon.

san francisco, oakland, and then approaching the tri valley by early afternoon. we'll see scattered showers in the south bay by tomorrow afternoon, and into the evening, and then it gets a little bit lighter, so that's the initial round of rain. we'll take a break for a little while and then some heavier rain will get here on wednesday into thursday. we will see the rounds of heavy rain starting to taper off throughout the day on thursday. so looking at how much rain we could see the potential of getting over an inch of rain in parts of the north bay, the rest of the bay area about a half of an inch of rain for the south bay, and up to an up to san francisco. so we'll be watching a couple of rounds of rain tha a you've been tracking two new crashes now in the south bay? >> yes, kari. we had the first crash registering 87 at by the airport. that is cleared but in its place we have two on the chp blotter, 880 at montague expressway. your slow lane may be blocked for a couple of minutes as crews arrive on scene, light traffic

and no problems through the area. the speed sensors show green. also showing green is 101 around great america parkway. loss for the name there. that crash may be on the right shoulder but sounds like there may be a minor injury. an ambulance might arrive or paramedic. we'll track that but doesn't sound like it's a major problem, fortunately no major injuries. contra costa county through walnut creek off of highway no . this yellow right here, remember that highlighting we haven't seen it for a while, a little bit of fog might register from time to time or low clouds drifting through. as we take a live look, folks going into the north bayhe rich the camera is over to the san rafael side, no delays down to the golden gate bridge which looks great as well. scott showed you more cars starting to come through the area but the roadways arecko yo. >> thank you, mike. coming up on "today in the "

nearly 70 san francisco high-rises may be vulnerable in the event of a major earthquake. francisco. good morning and thank you for joining us. i )m laura garcia. and i )m scott mcgrew. marcus is off. toss to weather. good morning, it's cold out there. >> it's cold, grab a nice warm jacket. take a look at the temperatures you'll feel as you get ready to step out the door. lot of low 40s in the north bay and upper 40s for san francisco. it's now 46 degrees as you head out in san jose. we will start to see a few more clouds moving in, into the afternoon, and the rain arrives tomorrow, so we'll be tracking some of the showers moving in, as we go through tomorrow morning's commute for the north bay, and the rest of the bay area seeing it by the afternoon. i'll talk more about rainfall totals and what else to expect this week coming up. mike, you're checking out the reports in the east bay.
