7:16 am
friends and family of aids victims gathered at the national aids memorial. the ceremony began with a thundering performance by the san francisco gay men's chorus. speakers shared tributes and expressed hope for the future. organizers say san francisco is the city closest to getting zero new aids infections. >> now more than ever it's important for us to redouble all of our efforts around any of the epidemic. in san francisco we have seen amazing successes in the last 25, 30 years around understanding the epidemic and bringing it under control. our successes are in the happening around the world and are not happening for all populations here in the city. >> the ceremony also included the reading of newly en frafd names added to the memorial this year. $50,000 in scholarships were awarded to the next generation of leaders in the aids movement. the iconic sunset magazine may soon be facing its own sunset. the "los angeles times" is reporting that five top editors including the editor in chief

night we have another system that's going to bring back yucky roadways and snowshowers. let me show you what it looks like right now, though. this is a live picture of what it looks like in lake tahoe, 6 degrees. talk about a december look into the future of the christmas. look at that. we've got some nice trees out there, however, again, this is going to be your best travel day. that winter storm warning did expire last night, which means the roads are probably a little bit safer, but always be prepared and don't forget to take the chains up there. san jose 41 degrees, wind speeds nice and calm, which is a nice shift because yesterday we had very gusty conditions. we've got a combination of sun and clouds. expect a much drier day today, though. no rain expected for today, which means any outdoor plans that you have do not involve an umbrella, but they do involve a coat. san francisco 46 degrees, wind speeds at about 3 miles per hour, but these are the cooler spots. we have even colder spots near santa rosa, near below freezing
7:19 am
at 33 degrees, nap ba 34. below freezing is just at about 32 degrees so we're inching close err towards that frosty early morning where you need to wrap all of those plants, protect them, anything that could get damaged from that overnight frost as we head into tonight the wind speeds are expected to diminish significantly and that's going to make it an even colder night tonight so definitely please take care of those plants. remember, people, pets and plants. by about 7:30 a.m. you can see within the next ten minutes the winds remain nice and light and that's what we're going to see today. the winds not going to be a factor. today's biggest changes no rain and no wind. your microclimate highs for today, temperatures will be similar to yesterday but in some spots running a few degrees cooler. still expecting low to mid 50s in livermore 53 degrees, san jose 56 degrees, oakland 56 and your bay area skies will be a very lovely combination of sun and clouds. now as far as satellite radar goes you can see we have got no activity over the bay area, but
7:20 am
we do have an incoming system and just off the pacific you can see a developing system and this is expected to bring back the return of rain. so when exactly is that supposed to happen? right now the models are showing it trending towards monday night into tuesday. so it's actually expecting an earlier arrival and that's going to bring additional snowfall as well to the sierra. as we head in towards monday night we get to see a couple showers pushing from north to south and then tuesday looks like the best chance to see more widespread rain. as far as significant rain totals it doesn't look like a big rainmaker just yet, we will have to inch closer to those days, but so far inland areas could expect to see showers even in through early thursday morning and we will catch a little bit of a break on friday and then there's a possibility that we could see another system kind of developing as we head in towards next weekend, kira, rain still on the way. >> looks good, vianey. thanks. 7:20. still ahead on "today in the bay," what one local man is

a lot has happened, but we have to sort of tie it together to get to where we are. >> that is a lot. that's more than i could even remember. so what events have occurred during just the last few days to magnify the investigation? >> oh, my goodness. look, at least three -- at least three major developments have occurred this past week. first, according to the guardian, a british newspaper, manafort held secret talks with wikileaks publisher julian assange at about the time manafort became trump campaign manager. manafort has denied that. second, sources claim that former trump attorney michael cohen said to mueller and more importantly the judge this past week that he lied when he testified earlier that trump had no interest in building a project in russia. in fact, he says, it may be that talks continue as late as june 2016, which is different than the president's statements. third, jerome corsi, a friend of roger stone, who is a long time trump associate, made public the

tentative terms of a rejected plea bargain agreement that placed president trump in the circle of information going between wikileaks and roger stone. >> wow. that is a lot to digest in just the past few days. where does this take us? or bring us? >> it takes us to a very, very uncomfortable place. combined these three reports if true place the president as someone who may have known a lot more about the russian activities than he has indicated. they may also explain why the president has been so reluctant to criticize russia. if he has -- if he has or if he did or might have had -- to have dealings with the rgss prior or during the election. you know, these mention are just all closing in. >> with the president denying things, other people admitting their own guilt, how can we be

sure any of these things are true, any of these claims? >> so far we can't. we can't. we can't. okay. and that's because special counsel robert mueller hasn't said a word. that alone tells us that we must be cautious in reechk any conclusions beyond the hard facts we already know. for his part the president describes these events as lies or convenient claims by those who have been convicted to get reduced sentences. maybe some of that's true but an awful lot of information has been coming from other sources such as the guardian's report or the papers released by corsi. a lot there. >> yeah, so what's next? >> well, as we've been saying -- >> let me let you take a breath. >> as we've been saying for a long time, with he wait. we wait. we wait. we wait for mueller to possibly indict more people and then for his final report. while we don't know when the final report will be given to the justice department these

events suggest the end may be near in the next few months and it may be troublesome, very troublesome, for people high up in the trump campaign, including the president himself. >> so only time will tell. >> yes, but do you know what, the time is closing in. and the end is near. not too much more. >> all right. and we know you'll give us the latest when it happens. as always, thanks, larry. it is 7:51. still ahead on "today in the bay," some lighter news, a holiday tradition floats on to bay area shores. we take you to the lighted boat parade. and it's cold outside and there's plenty of snow up in lake tahoe. i'm breaking down for you your sierra conditions and also i'm tracking more rain just up ahead, coming up in just a bit. stay with us.
