picture. this is what storm ranger is picking up. you can see the majority of the rain in the monterey area. we should see the residual moisture clear out by mid-morning and temperatures in the 30s. i'll go over your futurecast coming up. but let's send it over to mike. >> i took this live shot a few minutes ago at the toll plaza. flatbed trying to get over the bridge. nothing reported. nothing reported from chp and nothing on the live cameras. i checked the emeryville camera to check the span. meanwhile, we're looking at all clear through contra costa county. fog creeps in on the road, that's the yellow highlighting in the north bay. damp roadways show up on the sensors and show up on your drive. back to you. happening now, a final farewell for former president george h.w. bush.

most a longside his wife barbara, reunited in their final rest. now, from the train station, a procession will escort the president's flag-draped coffin just a short five-minute drive up, fittingly, barbara bush road, to the library here. should be a special, and like you talked about, emotional day. >> no doubt. just a wonderful family. thank you, jay. >> we will continue to watch today's events closely. san jose police talking about an organized crime bust in the south bay. special agents arrested four men last month. they are accused of manufacturing and selling drugs across the bay area and transporting those drugs across state lines. agents conducted raids at warehouses in the bay area and four other states. in the bay area alone, police say they seized more than 800 pounds of marijuana, along with hash oil, ecstasy and some

weapons, including a rocket launcher. the bust was two years in the making. a deadly police shooting, drama unfolded yesterday morning in pacheco. when a deputy ordered a suspect with an outstanding warrant to raise his hands, he shot a single shot. the deputy returned fire. we spoke with his girlfriend and he said that didn't happen. >> he got one shot off after he was shot twice. last time he shot him, he didn't move anymore. he was gone. >> the suspect has not been identified. it is said he is a 41-year-old man from discovery bay. he was wanted on a no bail warrant for evading arrest and they call him a known gang member. opponents vow to not give up the fight to stop google from

redeveloping a big chunk of downtown san jose. we spoke to one who believes it's their right. >> that's something we're able to do and willing to do, to show our opposition to a deal that would displace people. >> police arrested eight people during tuesday night's council meeting. the council voted to give google the green light. the new village will include housing and office space for 25,000 workers. google is hoping to have it finished in ten years. new this morning, we're learning muni's driver shortage is almost twice as bad as first stated. "the chronicle" reporting a new analysis shows on any given day the sf mta has 1900 full-time drivers available. 2300 is the number needed for service. that shortfall is more than twice what the agency reported over the summer. the driver deficit is causing delays and overcrowding. coming up next on "today in the bay," moviepass users,

wall street is set to open up lower this morning after the markets were closed yesterday for president bush's funeral. asia and europe are down today amid concerns over trade. one issue that could impact u.s. and china trade talks. a top executive of chinese tech giant waway was arrested in canada at the request of u.s. authorities for allegedly violating u.s. sanctions on iran. that executive is also the daughter of the company's founder. china could potentially retaliate against american tech companies. on today's watch list, manufacturing. moviepass is hoping people will give it a second chance. the ticket service is launching a three-tier subscription plan. all users pay $9.99 month but starting on january 1st, prices will vary depending on where you live. subscribers nz major cities where ticket prices are the highest will pay more.

morning. what a beautiful live look outside. san francisco this morning. so clear. you can see all the lights on on the building. the rain kind of drizzly this morning. we're told it's moving out. vianey is in for kari this morning. we'll check in with her in a moment. a new addition to tell you about to a brand-new ice rink. this year for the first time there's a holiday ice rink at san francisco's civic center. it opened last week and they added a christmas tree last night. skaters say they love this atmosphere. >> fun, family-friendly and, yeah, great holiday activity. it's real exciting. >> so, if you're just itching to lace up those skates and get out there and wobble or fall, you have until january 6th before the rink closes. >> that's the thing, you feel like an olympian but you don't look like it. >> i'm good -- whoa, i'm not so good. >> i went to an ice skating rink when i was in seattle for thanksgiving and this lady was just doing spins and i was like,

30s in santa rosa. 38 degrees, napa at 45. check out oakland, 52 degrees. san jose, 52. our overall microclimate highs for today will be comfortable but a little warmer than what we saw yesterday. 58 degrees in san jose. 60 degrees in east san joe a. through the east bay, check out temperatures, upper 50s for oakland at 58 degrees. further inland through concord and walnut creek, also in the 60s. along the peninsula we might keep a little breeze, much like what we saw yesterday into the afternoon. san mateo, 59 degrees. through the city, 60. north bay will go into the 60s. 61 for santa rosa. 62 for novato. 62 for sonoma. by mid-morning the rain is expected to clear out. this is what's expected over the next seven days. we'll dry out beautifully today into friday. we'll keep that dry weather pattern through saturday. as we head in through sunday night, we have another system that trickles in.

this system is expected to stick around all the way through monday. that's going to bring the chance of seeing some rain during your monday morning commute. also notice those temperatures were expected to remain in those 60s. overall, we are going to see a very lovely day ahead. excuse my graphics. they seem to be doing the same thing. let's get a check of the roads. let's go over to mike. >> most people are doing the right thing, which is obeying traffic laws. we're getting to the road weather index. that's where we take the data for the weather and translate to what it might be. patchy fog north of the novato. a nice smooth drive through contra costa county. my sensors have lit up, north 880. i confirmed with some sources, nothing major going on. those sensor, sometimes they need a little help with their interpretation. 580 we saw slowing.

it just cleared up. there was some debris there. also debris reported 880 at high street. dumbarton has slowing, too. oakland, 880/high street, debris reported. i don't see any flashing lights and traffic seems to be moving smoothly. the dumbarton may have slowing towards the toll plaza. i'll check with chp. meanwhiling at the san mateo bridge, no delays. no problems across the rails. all trains for b.a.r.t., ace and caltrans reporting no delays. 4:49 right now. new this morning, there's new explanation for the creation of a dead lly firenado. take a look at the size of it. a new study says it was created by a combination of scorching weather, erratic winds and ice-topped clouds.

scientists say the firenado was the size of three football fields. the funnel of smoke and flames killed a firefighter. in total the car fire claimed eight lives and burned over 1,000 homes. a follow-up for you. nearly one month after the deadly firestorm, the first paradise residents are only now being allowed to return. authorities yesterday lifted evacuation orders for some people, but pg&e says full power may not be restored before the end of the year for some of those neighborhoods. gas service may take a little longer than that. police are telling residents to be extra careful as they return to their properties. >> i want to remind everyone there are still a lot of hazards up there. we ask you drive at a reduced speed, watch for utility crews, watch for equipment and be mindful of your fellow citizens and everybody trying to help restore our community. >> when it comes to, water in paradise. it's also a big problem. it's only available to a handful

of agencies and facilities, including the town's hospital. 4:50. our investigative unit continues to uncover new information about what may have caused the fire. the fire likely began at a tower on pg&e's network of high-voltage power lines. we've now learned investigators are focusing on the possible failure of a steel hook that secured a power line to a transmission tower. pg&e will only say while the investigation is ongoing, it is focused on restoring power and helping customers recover. nbc bay area responds to complaints about delivery theft to mailbox burglaries. >> mailboxes are an easy target for thieves but you get the upper hand with informed delivery. it's a free service from the postal service that sends you an e-mail alert any time packages and envelopes are on your way. you even get to see a picture of
