we have the cold front expected to sweep in and this is going to be mainly into the afternoon hours. storm ranger is on top of san bruno mountain. the system is expected to track the t north bay and the mountains. i'll go over the exact time line as far as when the rain is expected to make its arrival. i'm tracking a big rain maker as we head toward the weekend. you want to know about that. but first, let's get a check of the roads with mike. >> we have a slow maker at the accou caldecott tunnel and that's it. west 24 we had a series of two traffic breaks because of a crash blocking your right tunnel. we had chp just got in touch saying all lanes cleared. the speed sensors will light back up and we'll have a slow flow orinda toward the been by n bridge.

the yellow in the tracy area toward the central valley. we'll check that with her. back to you. two people are in custody after a crash. police say this started with a walmart robbery. the crash happened a little after midnight during a chase northbound 880 in fremont. police say that the suspect had robbed a walmart in milpitas. officers spotted that car soon after. the suspect suffered minor injuries that were not life-threatening. bob redell is speaking with police. he'll have a full report at 5:00. public utilities commissioners yesterday voted to give power shutoff plans a closer look. several recent california wildfires are now being blamed on power line and transmission malfunctions. among other things, the puc

he said "i kill her." >> authorities say the suspect is from cincinnati but lived in the bay area before. they're trying to figure out if there was any relationship between him and the victim. a man got up on top of a muni light rail causing huge days. the whole ordeal lasted about an hour. police are not saying if they know why that man got on top of that train. >> 4:35. it's been a long night for cleanup crews in union city. some of them may only now be getting to sleep, after a water main break caused major flooding there. it happened a little before 5:00 yesterday evening at union city boulevard and whipple road. pg&e says one of its contracting crews doing work in that area may have actually clipped a 14 inch water main and at last check, that road closure there had was still in effect. a small earthquake rattled

good morning. i'm frank holland at cnbc global headquarters. here are today's top business headlines. wall street could see red arrows at the opening bell. asia was lower overnight and europe is down this morning following some weak data out of china, sparking concerns about the world's second largest economy. yesterday stocks were mixed as investors continue to fret over the lack of details and progress in the u.s./china trade talks. on today's watch list, reports on retail sales and industrial production. and starbucks is expanding coffee delivery across the country through a partnership with uber eats. it's part of a strategy to try to reach more customers. starbucks began testing delivery in miami in september. it will offer the service in nearly a quarter of its company-owned stores early next year. of course there's some challenges involved in delivery,

all of this is because of this cloud cover. this is a live look at our satellite radar. we are tracking an incoming system that is expected to bring some afternoon or id morning/af. look at the cloud cover. we have got some moisture right now, but not enough to kind of be widespread down through the north bay. so we have our very own storm ranger that is scanning on top of san bruno mountain. it's ready for when the rain moves in. i'll give you an hour-by-hour breakdown so you can plan your day and your weekend ahead as well. by about 10:30, we start seeing a couple pop-up showers. around 9:00 a.m., don't be surprised we start catching some drizzle, especially if you live along the coast in the north bay, santa rosa. san francisco, portions of san jose least likely to see the heavier rain. 3:30, we see the line of showers move in. this is the cold front in through santa rosa, down through san francisco, and then it lingers with on and off again showers all the way through early saturday morning. we catch a little bit of a break

saturday into the afternoon, but then on sunday, this is our bigger storm. this is going to be one of our best rain makers for the week. we see it track in on sunday. it kind of clears out by monday afternoon, but it does carry over into the start of your work week. part of why you are microclimate highs today, 60 degrees for oakland, 64 degrees for concord. we have mid-60s for the san jose area. we're also tracking dangerous waves as we head in toward the weekend. 15 to possibly 40 footers, so surfers, this is your weekend, although if you're not a big surfer, don't turn your back to waves. isn't that right, mike? >> that's right. if you are surfing, you have to turn your back to waves. we learned one of the basics of surfing. over here toward the south bay, all the way up into the peninsula, vianey is talking about the mavericks in the half moon bay area, 92/101, somewhere north of there. we have viewing online as well if and when that happens. the rest of the bay shows a
