this happened yesterday afternoon near the fruitvale b.a.r.t. station. the collision caused the bike to fly into the air and the boy got stuck under the car. witnesses sent us video of the aftermath. police are worried about him. >> we have a 14-year-old boy in critical condition. he has major injuries for being dragged by this vehicle for four city blocks. >> the two suspects are on the run. crimestoppers offin jose's mayor o from the hospital after colliding with a car while riding his bike on new year's day. >> reporter: san jose's mayor is recovering from a bicycle crash at home. the mayor left regional medical center. and a police officer drove him

walking. >> reporter: nbc7 bay area news. an elderly woman is dead after being struck while walking across the street in concord. police say it happened yesterday just after 3:00. the 86-year-old was crossing around a ayers road and valley crest drive. the driver did stop and is cooperating with police. a live look on capitol hill where a big shift in power officially kicks in today when democrats retake control of the house. later this morning bay area democrat nancy pelosi isexpecte as house speaker. in an exclusive interview with the "today" show, she already has choice words for president trump about the ongoing federal shutdown. the shutdown enters its 13th day with no end in sight and likely house democrats will move quickly to end it. it's also just as likely the gop-led senate will vote against any measure ending the shutdown. the sticking point, of course, is funding for the president's

good morning. i'm frank holland. here are today's top business headlines. wall street is set to open up lower this morning mostly due to apple. the company is includes this past holiday season. in an exclusive interview right here on cnbc, apple ceo tim cook pointing to slowing iphone sales and economic weakness in china. cook also says fewer people have been upgrading to the latest iphone models.

apple's stock is down nearly 8%, meaning it's lost roughly $60 billion in market value. apple dragging down shares of its parts suppliers overseas as well as tech stoblgs in the u.s., including facebook, amazon and microsoft. the u.s. government shutdown could impact your tax returns. the irs is one of the agencies working with a bare bone staff. while it can process some tax returns, it's not conducting audits, answering questions or paying out refunds. the irs is yet to announce a start date for the 2018 season. that could affect the entire economy as early filers use their refunds to pay down debt, large those are your cnbc headlines, back over to you. coming up on "today in the bay," vianey is tracking our thursday forecast. >> it's another cold one. no surprise there. we warned you. once again we're starting out in

oracle arena... but outside of 4:44. many warriors fans not happy about having to camp out. i'm not talking about outside oracle arena, but outside steph is y's pop-up store in oakland. curry's store held a big bash to celebrate his tenth year playing in oakland. the first 225 people in line were to be gifted two free tickets for today and then the pop-up store stopped distributing those tickets. >> people are paying for brought their kids and families here. it's very disappointing. >> so, curry took to twitter and instagram to tell hiss they can stop by the store again today to get those tickets. it's not clear how many tickets are still available. well, in case you missed, it steph curry came through on christmas. this is for one napa girl who wondered why curry'ses under

that's the bright sign near home depot and ikea off university. a new filing by pg&e gives a hint at legal strategies the utility may use when it comes to lawsuits around the deadly santa rosa wildfires. investigators have not determined the exact cause of the fire in 2017. our investigative unit found the fire may have started from faulty electrical equipment on north bennett lane. pg&e filed a response to the lawsuit saying the equipment was not its responsibility. in the statement it says, in 35r9 part, the evidence supports the conclusion this equipment located beyond pg&e's service delivery point was planned, designed, installed and maintained and operated by third parties, not pg&e. we're learning more about a deadly apartment fire in oakland. it happened last night on chadic

avenue near the berkeley border. firefighters say a 38-year-old man was kilide the building. likely he died from smoke inhalation. initial reports say a christmas tree may be to blame. and this man, tamari harris is scheduled to go to trial in connection with a deadly shooting in richmond. "the east bay times" reports one critical piece of evidence has vanished without a trace. the victim identified harris as he lay dying in march of 2016 but the body camera used by the officer who heard that accusation somehow malfunctioned. police say there's no usable footage. 4:51. a large crowd showed up first court appearance of a man accused of killing a newman police officer. people lined up outside the courthouse in modesto to show support for the officer.

he was shot to death the morning after christmas while making a dui stop. the suspect was to be arraigned yesterday but the case was suspended until next month so he can undergo a mental evaluation. supporters of singh's family were upset by the news. >> as you're in that courtroom, we're out here in front of the courthouse, we have your back. we all want justice. >> we also learned the suspect's real name. he had numerous aliases. police say his real name is polio mendoza. a follow-up to a deadly christmas day shooting by san jose police. the family of the woman killed, jennifer vasquez, is charges to be filed against four san jose officers. police say the 24-year-old was driving a stolen car in the early hours of christmas morning. they misidentified her as the suspect in a different shooting. when she tried to flee, they shot and killed file
