the school closure is part of a bigger plan by the school district saying there are too many schools in regards to how many students are in the district. i did get a chance to speak with a teacher at this middle school as well as a parent about their feelings headed into tonight's meeting. both of them say that the district informed them about the closure of the school, potential closure of the school via a robo call, around the holidays. >> every morning you wake up, i get to work at 7:00, classes start at 8:45 and i'm having to think how can i be mindful of my students' emotional being and teach them academic because i have to keep pushing them forward. >> ever since december 18, i go g to sleep, wake up 2:00/3:00 in the morning thinking what am i go to do? >> reporter: clearly a lot of stress for parents, teachers and students here 200 students at the school that he district could be planning a 60. we're live here in oakland, pete

gain for the week and extend its win streak to five straight weeks, the first time it's done that since last august. the fed meets on tuesday and wednesday, and there are big reports on housing and jobs, as well as the number of big-named companies including apple, amazon, facebook, at&t, and mcdonald's, all reporting their earnings. and it's going to cost you just a little bit more to fill up your car. the average price of gas inching up two cents over the past two weeks to now $2.33 a gallon. that increase comes after gas actually fell by 64 cents over the previous 14 weeks, and the bay area prices, you know, a little higher, gas is averaging $3.52 a gallon. the irs will start accepting tax returns today. a new study finds most people are not ready. this is the first filing season americans will see the full effects of the new tax laws. a survey by nerd wallet finds a lot of taxpayers don't understand all the changes. only half were aware a tax bill was signed into law in 2017 and

up to be a fairly mild day, and then we start out with a live look outside in san francisco, getting dressed for the day. you do still need a jacket with those temperatures in the low 50s, and then maybe some light short sleeves and then some jeans for today. it's going to be a comfortable afternoon. here's a look at our highs for the south bay. look at that, 70 degrees at gilroy, once again today, cupertino reaching 66. although it won't be all clear and sunny throughout the day, it wie mid-60s in san francisy, and also for parts of the north bay, with a few spots like ukiah reaching 68 degrees. you'll notice more clouds in the mix, but still not going to track any rain just yet. but there will be some storms developing that could bring us some rain chances going into the next few days. starting out with a slight chance of rain on wednesday, and this one kind of quickly moves through. we'll be in and out of here as this disturbance passes by, not expecting anything significant. as we go into the weekend,

friday, saturday, sunday, all look pretty soggy off and on, so for the weekend, make sure that your weekend plans include the need to get inside quickly, so those showers move through. we are going to see once again the dry weather for today and tomorrow, and a chance of showers on wednesday. thursday looks dry, and then from friday on, it just looks like we'll see some rain off and on. it may not be raining the whole time, but we are going to have some cooler weather, and more as we head over to mike, you'll take us become to the bay bridge. >> taking you back to the bay bridge, same shot, different reason, this time getting out of san francisco, that would be the lower deck headed toward treasure island, yerba buena island reports of a disabled vehicle. the bridge crew did say we got it, we just want to make sure they clear that incident. no slowing eastbound 80 getting out of san francisco at this time. no problems for the sensors, that was an issue for a few minutes there. getting toward the carquinez bridge behind the shield west 80 approaching the toll plaza,

classrooms on january 15th. school teachers were demanding better pay, smaller class sizes, and additional staffing. in just a few hours, we're expected to also get a better idea of the devastation caused by last year's wildfires. the state's insurance commissioner plans to explain the latest amount of losses insurance plans to cover. so far, the government says it's helped 5,000 survivors. the camp fire in butte county last fall is the deadliest in state structures burned across the state last november, nearly g,10 investigators are working to learn more about a sexual assault near stanford campus. the victim saying a man restrained then touched her repeatedly against her will. investigators say this happened early thursday morning near the dorms in arguello park. in a few minutes, volunteers in marin county will take a survey of the number of homeless people. the group plans to leave at 5:00 this morning, to collect data
