ad lib live picture san jose and radar. stormranger working hard this morning tracking the rain. good morning and thank you for joining us. i )m laura garcia. storm tracking working hard. it was comings town on my commute. an joining us. i'm lawyeringalk about theth night. >> it's been coming down for parts of the bay area. as wets a look at storm ranger, not all of the bay area seeing it. either mostly hitting the peninsula and south bay.

we're going to see things improving as we go through the west of the morning. only a couple of spotty showers for marin county. we head down the peninsula as we see rain through redwood city, down to palo alto. also for san jose, heavy rain through cupertino, saratoga, santa clara as well. we will be tracking rain moving through the south county. once again, this will be winding down as we go through the day. we'll talk about what to expect as the next storm arrives in just a few minutes. mike, you have crashes and flooding. >> overnight rain leaves rain on the roadway. it hasn't completely cleared. here is one t cleared. fl san mateoo bridge. that right lane blocked for a half hour. ing to move vehicles. expect the distraction one lane down, two lanes across the span. westbound you saw the light traffic as well across 92. on the peninsula side we also have a crash, north 101 at whipple.

that's also reports of flooding in the area. still one of the vehicles involved will create a distraction. you should slow, stay to the middle lanes of the freeway and you'll get by fine. middle lanes of the freeway are have more of a crest, sidelines tend to flood. back to you. 4:42 right now. a federal judge has a blunt meeting forid pg&e one day afte they officially filed for bankruptcy. >> bob redell, what did they have to stay? >> reporter: basically the message to pg&e is get your act together. a federal judge out of san francisco, he's overseeing pg&e probation for the explosion that killed eight people, destroyed 38 homes in sruat case. he's also hammered the utility

over efforts to prevent future fires. fire victims and their attorneys say the judge's comments are a step in the right direction. >> either been 10 years when people have been burned to death in their homes. people have lost their homes. it's time for the actions of pg&e to match its words. >> the judge specifically wants to require pg&e to trim trees during the network power lines or cut the power if they can't do so. again, the company said it doesn't have the manpower or financial resources to do that and is urging the judge to rescind the order. cpuc, the people that regulate pg&e, they say it would take as many as 20,000 workers totility. won't work according to pcuc, might have to use dronesre decl because they can't afford billions in liabilities it might face for the possible role in last year's deadly fire.

reporting live in fremont, bob redell, "today in the bay." thank you. a touching moment at sfo, on tuesday night a mother and her 18-month-old reunited after being separated by immigration agents. >> now that mother says that she's worried about the health and psychological effects her daughter may have suffered on government custody. nbc bay area reporter talked to the family in san francisco about their concerns. >> reporter: at the start of our conversation, 18-month-old julian was restless and had a cuff. her mother said she's concerned about what happened to her daughter over the last month. speaking through an interpreter, she says they are seeing a doctor in the morning. >> translator: she says she wants be the baby to be evaluated for psych lonell cal injury. also, she's just noticing she's got some physical symptoms. she wants a medical checkup. >> september 28th the child was

separated from her father after flooeg violence in honduras. they arrived a couple days later and sought asylum. she was reunited at sfo after struggling for weeks to find her. when she got her back, it looked as if her daughter didn't recognize her anymore. this psychologist said children separated by their parents like this can suffer lasting effects. >> not only is she going to be affected she's more likely to be affected than an older child. her parents are her world, everything she knows. >> cindy is sharing her experience in hopes of helping other parents separated from their children. >> translator: my heart hurts because of what my daughter experienced, but we can still do something for other through the >> "today in the bay." last summer president trump signed an executive order banning separated children from

their parents at the border. we reached out to how old security for a response to this case. so far we have not received a response. breaking news to tell you about now at 4:36. you can see right here, look at these massive flames taking over a parking garage. this is at newark airport in new jersey there. there's about dozen cars on fire. fire crews on the scene trying to get that under control to prevent any more cars catching on fire. the smoke there. no delays right now. it's not clear how this fire started. you can v see fire crews workin to get that under control. of course we will continue to monitor this breaking news as it cars are on fire. of unity by oakland city workers ahead of what may be a critical contract offer. >> let you know we mean business council know we mean business. >> the uniono representing city workers posted this video calling for a noon rally on the

good morning, i'm frank holland at cnbc headquarters. stocks rallied yesterday with the dow up more than 400 points after the fed left interest rates unchanged and said it would be patient in raising them in the immediate future. the market got aif and earnings from amazon. boeing. elon musk says a electric people filing for unemployment pickup truck this summer will be unique and unlike anything else on the roads. musk has long included adding a pickup to tesla's lineup. he talked about what to include, all wheel drive, torque and suspension that adjusts for load. tesla has plans to have its next

vehicle, the cross-over wead for sale next year. google disabled an app after revealed it violated apple policies much in the same way a controversial facebook app did. the app for ios and android phones gave users gift cards in exchange for tracking their internet usage. in a statement google says the app is completely voluntary and always has been. it's been up front with users on how it uses their data. those are cnbc headlines. back to you. >> i wonder how up front. is it in the small, small, small print? >> we're tracking you. >> where i am. >> got an app for that. >> 4:41. coming on "today in the bay." kari, talking boult that rain falling down right now? >> roads are pretty wet as we get a live look outside in fremont, 880. still some rain coming down, light rain.

after 8:00 chances moving out and sun will come out. as we take a look at our storm ranger, it does show a lot of us are not seeing rain right now. we'll talk about what to expect coming up in the forecast. even if it's not raining, though, palo alto, our camera shows you the leftovers, water on the lens and water on the roadway. further up the road we're talking about flooding and let you know how the crash is progressing coming up.

>> they are big, too, the ones with the coconut inside. huge. >> all right. so this morning as you're getting ready to head up and out the door, it is starting out with wet roads across the bay area. you probably heard that rain hitting the roof last night. a lot of it has moved out. we're only seeing showers moving through the peninsula, parts of the south bay down to the south county. as we get a closer look you are still hearing that rain and seeing it out the window. in redwood city as you head north of palo alto, then moves over towards sunnyvale, some light showers. martine to he door. morgan hill. you can see red and yellows on storm ranger showing rain is still pouring. we have this system to come on . right behind that there is another storm on sunday. so it's going to stay busy over these next few days.

you want to take advantage of these breaks in between these storms which we will see in pleasanton as you head out for this morning. if you can wait until 7:00, everything will be all dry. our rain chances going way down. it's going to be another nice afternoon as we get warming temperatures and still going to keep the milder weather with mostly sunny skies later today. as you get dressed getting ready to get out the door, you will need long sleeves and once again the sunglasses. you can probably put away the umbrella after the next couple of hours. as we go can the commuteayslip. as we go into the time line of when the next rain arrives, it to me into late tomorrow morning and continue spot afternoon getting more widespread and heavy as we radio at the potential of getting quite a bit of rain with this next storm system moving in an inch for many of our microclimates. i'll have more updates on that. mike, you're tracking the drive across the bay.

>> it's a little sloppy. the water splashing around behind the vehicles. we see the san jose camera on 101, see the drops on a lens the water is kicking up, rooster tail behind the cars. we always talk about that. even though it's not actively raining it may have effects of rain. you need those windshield wipers. the blue shows puddles and ponding. they are careful with speeds throughout the south bay. coming up santa cruz mountain, highway 17. kari showed you activity 101 across south county. no trees or mudslides for 17 reported but we'll continue to . in san east bay. francisco just around the skyway. so we're going to keep tracking that. i wanted to pull on this regard. there's storm tracker with red beam there talking about how that rain continues to come down. can you see it in the yellow and green. kari is following that. following live cameras. 101 moves smoothly past palo

alto and shopping center. whipple may be a quick traffic break. we talked about flooding blocking your right lane at whipple. back to you. >> thank you. 4:49. more than two dozen drivers got an unwanted surprise at a local gas station. they filled up with contame natured fuel. the flex fuel was the only pump affected for two hours on saturday. customers say their car started having problems once they left the station. the company stopped sales at that pump contaminated fuel. >> i heard there was an issue so i'll be a little watchful for a while. >> propel said the other puches were fine. a mechanic working on the car said fuel tanks and injectors had to be replaced and the gas had a blue tint when it should be clear. >> it is 4:50 right now.

in just a few minutes volunteers from san mateo county will start counting the homeless. the county says they are conducting the operation, it's a very critical component for planning and development. san mateo is one of the several complaints in the area counting homeless. yesterday contra costa complaint held their count. plan ahead before you take youd. people who live near say the crowds and traffic are out of control. city planners agree. it was standing room only yesterday. people who live on the street say the traffic is not just inconvenient, it's not safe. >> it's not just dangerous for the cable cars. first responders can't get to anybody on hyde. >> i'm supportive of the fee if it somehow limits the traffic. i'm support of anything that limits the traffic. >> the san francisco county transportation authorities proposing visitors pay $5 or $10

for a reservation. enforcement would be automated or conducted by staff at the top of the street. all paid for by that fee. a fine tuned proposal will be presented in the coming months to the board of supervisors. red tape is making things difficult for the recovery in butte county. specifically the community of pa paradi paradise. last month they allowed people pele are still living on those sites. all the conditions are also considered a danger to the public health. butte county and city leaders are working with federal agencies to get the issue straightened out. bay area restaurant is banning anyone wearing a make america great again baseball cap from its business. the chef partner took on twitter about that issue. he wrote, it hasn't happened yet. but if you come to my restaurant wearing a maga cap, you aren't

missing soccer star. he was heading from france to wales. his private plane disappeared over the english channel. now investigators say two seat cushions have been found which may likely have come from a crashed plane. the family paying for a private search for that crashed plane. they are so hopeful. more news after the break. richmd

chmura said he needed our help to get sears to listen. >> ramon need add new rack from his dishwasher. he ordered one from his nearby sears store. he paid $169. he said the rack delivered was for a different model. he said he tried to return it at the sears parts counter. the store told him to call customer support. he did for weeks and got nowhere. finally ramon just gave up and bought a new dishwasher all together at another store, but he was still stuck with the dish rack, the $169 dish rack he didn't need for a dishwasher he no longer owned. he wanted his $169 back so he turned to us. we contacted sears and the very next day it sent ramon a check for $169. we asked sears what happened. it only told us it issued the check. as for the dish rack, sears says ramon can do whatever he wants with it. usually we try to find a lesson at the end of these cases but it
