comes to this explosion that took place yesterday. we know it took place roughly around 1:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon right here in this construction zone near geary and parker. that fire spreading quickly in the area and destroying five buildings all together ranging from businesses to homes. now, san francisco fire says that fire was ignited after a third party construction crew, a company we now know goes by the name of mass tech ruptured the gas line. the fire took out power for at least 2500 customers yesterday from laurel heights all the way to parts of the presidio. that has been restored for the most part. as i mentioned, the latest update from pg&e, we know the gas line has been repaired. still 300 people are without gas. electricity was restored at 5:00 a.m. not too long ago. here are what fire victims affected by this are saying about the incident. >> we're thinking about where we can move programming. some other sites people have

slurs. you might recall john hailey, former director of transit retired from the agency last october following a lawsuit from an employee who alleged he groped her. you renewed your driver's license and haven't gotten it in the mail yet? you may be part of the tech glitch in the state agency. kris sanchez joins us live from the san jose dmv this morning. what's the problem this time, kris? this latest glitch affects people who didn't procrastinate, renewed their driver's license as soon as they got their renewal in the mail. here is what happened. they tried to get ahead of a backlog sending out renewal notices earlier than usual, 5 to 3530 days early. the problem is they can only accept renewals 115 days or less before stiration.
6:07 am
some folks renewed early, paid the fees, and now the system shows no record of that. if you got a notice to renew your license between november and january, this could be you. the dmv said people with birthdays of february 25th would be the expiration date on your license, that's the earliest folks would be impacted. sacramento dmv uncovered this glitch and could affect tens of thousands of californians. there's an internal review under way to get to the bottom of this problem. this is in addition to a review by governor newsom and an audit by department of finance of it's completely different from the problem we saw with real ids and motor registration snafu as well. clearly another difficulty for the department of motor vehicles. i did ask on twitter and facebook whether or not anybody had been impacted at this point. we did have one viewer who said her driver's license is about two weeks late. the good news if you are impacted, the dmv now is aware
6:08 am
of this. they are not going to ask you to prove you paid and not going to tell you you didn't pay, if you did. it is going to take a minute to sort all of this out. in the meantime if you have that renewal notice, make sure you keep it with you and your driver's license in the event you get pulled over. in san jose, kris sanchez, "today in the bay." thank you, kris. retailers might be secretly recording iphone screen. session replying requires using third party firm to insert technology into an app. that software records everything you do within the app. it takes screen shots including in fields where you input sensitive information like credit card and passport numbers. newspaper of the widely used apps that do this disclose it in a privacy or public document.
