yesterday afternoon into the evening hours. look at it now in san francisco. but you can see on the golden gate bridge we have some wet roads. that's because we're tracking early morning scattered showers here and there. these are your current temperatures as you head out the door. 36 in santa rosa. napa 44, san jose, 38. mountain view, 37. here's a look at satellite radar. it's not too active but that will change. let's talk about the big changes we have ahead. if i zoom in to stormranger right now, we're not in the clear just yet. we have a couple pockets of rain moving in through south san francisco and the san mateo area. also some rain will continue to push through half moon bay, redwood city. it's not heavy rain. it's more light to moderate and also through the santa cruz mountains and morgan hill. don't be surprised if we see more rain this evening. i'll take you through that timeline in about 15 minutes.

>> see you in 15. thanks. this morning repairs are under way to the richmond-san rafael bridge after chunks of concrete fell off and hit one car. caltrans went to work last night replacing a metal plate with a larger one. this comes two days after pieces of the upper deck fell in front of a driver on the morning commute. graham edwards was driving this white mercedes on the lower deck when pieces of the upper deck fell in front of his car, barely missing his windshield. >> it was one of those oh no, moments. do you stop, hit your brakes? is a truck behind me. i must have tapped the brakes instinctively that made the difference between it hitting the bumper and coming through the windshield. >> the bridge was shut down off and on for nine hours on thursday. caltrans hopes repairs will be complete by monday morning's commute. following a developing

story. one person of interest is in custody following a dangerous fight on board a b.a.r.t. train. it happened last night at the 16th and mission station. a spokeswoman for b.a.r.t. says it was a fight with a weapon involved. on social media, people posted photos of a heavy police presence at the civic center b.a.r.t. station where officers stopped all the trains to look for the person responsible. b.a.r.t. says one person was taken to the hospital with injuries. their condition is unknown. the fbi is asking for the public's help identifying a group of bank robberers who shot at local police and carjacked this suv here. it happened yesterday in broad daylight at the wells fargo on hopyard road in pleasanton. it was just after 10:30 in the morning when police received reports of a bank robbery. when they responded, one of the men opened fire on their patrol car. >> shots fired. shots fired.

>> police say four men in masks targeted the bank. they all had rifles. the first officer to get there saw the men getting into a white gmc yukon and followed them but things escalated. >> he was the only officer there, and immediately there was gunfire. the back window exploded. multiple rounds struck the hoot of the patrol car. the windshield of the patrol car. >> the officer was cut by broken glass but he is going to be okay. the men crashed that yukon and carjacked the brown honda suv that you saw. the license plate is 5usy995. police say the men are armed and dangerous. if you see the car, calli 911. traffic and businesses in the south bay were during a standstill during an 11-hour standoff yesterday. it started before 5:30 yesterday morning when this man allegedly pointed a gun at a denny's

employee in the parking lot. he then walked into the restaurant, sat down in a booth and refused to leave, launching the standoff. finally around 4:30 p.m., he surrendered peacefully to officers. we're told no one was hurt. the feds are now in san francisco giving us new information about the pg&e gas pipeline explosion. the ntsb is looking into why it took so long for pg&e to shut off the gas during wednesday's massive fire near the usf campus. the shutout valves were not under the pavement. >> ntsb investigators are focusing on why it took two hours to shut off the gas while this fireball burned this fire was on wednesday. pg&e said having to hand dig into the street to turn off the gas contributed to the delay. but the ntsb has new

informatio information. >> we verified the pg&e crews were able to access, to shut off the flow of gas. so those valves were not paved over. >> investigators say the six shutoff valves crews used were not buried under the pavement. pg&e has not responded to a call asking for its response. but in a statement did say our isolation plan was focused on balancing, minimizing large scale gas outages and safely shutting in gas. had pg&e turned off a transmission system valve, gas services would have been lost to nearly the entire city of san francisco. while the investigation continues, devoted customers of the destroyed hong kong lounge ii restaurant are rallying around employees. >> they know our order. they know our drink order. >> reporter: a san francisco couple started a gofundme page hoping to raise money for staff who are missing out on big tips during the lunar new year

celebration. >> in a hard time where they probably won't find additional work. it's going to get a little more noisy in the south bay as b.a.r.t. prepares to open its san jose station. testing on the tracks will resume next week. that means up to 20 trains will run along the route at all times of day during testing. officials say people living along the tracks may hear some noise or feel vibrations. one homeowner we spoke with says the testing is much better than the larger trains that used to use the rails years ago. >> just like when the freight train passes, i feel like it's a small earthquake. the house is rumbling. >> the project is expected it open november 1st. now to early risers who use b.a.r.t. you need to make adjustments beginning monday. that's because b.a.r.t. will begin service an hour later in

welcome back. it's 7:10 on your saturday morning. here's a live look outside at the san mateo bridge. you can see the clouds above the east bay. we will expect some cool temperatures today. early showers off and on today and getting hv i haeavier into tonight. the hunt is on to find who killed a bald eagle. did you know killing those u.s. national emblems is a federal crime? the eagle was found shot in petaluma. jodi hernandez visited the wildlife rescue where people tried tirelessly to save the

bird. >> we really thought this bird would get back up into the sky and fly flee again. >> that was the hope when rescuers scooped up this bald eagle in petaluma last week after someone spotted it hiding in the bushes on their property. >> we could tell there was something wrong with the week it looked like it was broken. >> turns out the bird was shot a pellet lodged in its wing and a bone shattered. >> when we saw this beautiful majestic bald eagle was shot, we were pretty -- it was a tragic moment for all of us. a soft-sided enclosure. >> reporter: after a week of caring for it rescuers took it to the uc davis vet hospital where doctors determined it not only had a broken wing, but a severely damaged heart from years of lead poisoning. the eagle was euthanized. >> somebody knew darn well, what they were doing. people should know it's a

welcome back. it's just shy of 177:15 on your saturday morning. looking towards san francisco and the bay bridge. cloudy and foggy out there. showers this morning and they will stick throughout the day. they will get heavier tonight and bigger changes tomorrow. enjoy the showers and the cooler temperatures today. it's going to get stronger as the weekend progresses. we have an update to the raiders search for a stadium to play in next season. as we previously reported the team reached an agreement in principle with the giants to play at oracle park in san francisco. now the city of oak lapd may be changing its tune. the raiders said they won't play at the coliseum next season because oakland is suing the team over their decision to move to las vegas in 2020. now the president of the oakland

city council says they might have a new offer to keep the team in oakland for its final season. wre rebecca rebecca kaplan said if the raiders wanted to offer us a huge increased lease payment, we might be willing to consider it. there's a new robot in town. it wants to help you find and learn more about alcohol. bevmo is testing the robot at a few stores. here's one in action in santa clara. scott budman is testing it out. the bots can help you find your drink, tell you more about it, and even track inventory. shoppers tell us there's still some bugs to work out. >> granted, it's taking a while. >> i was going to say, maybe it's drunk. >> is it worth the time to interact with the robot or could you do it -- >> i could probably do it myself. >> the robots were built by

fellow robots headquartered in concord. now to assessing the damage. these are new images from yosemite. the national park service says all the recent snow is taking a toll. about 50 guest cabins at half dome village have been damaged or destroyed. some employees have had to find temporary housing. the mark service says yosemite received up to two feet of snow from the recent storms. and now to this video from the sierra. the road to lake tahoe and routine no is very dangerous. our microclimate weather team is forecasting 1 to 4 feet of snow over the next few days. maximum chain controls are in effect for much of interstate 80. perfect timing to check in with vianey arana and our weekend forecast. seems mild out there now. >> right now. yeah. we'll see that rain increase into tonight. we have a storm coming in. that will mean more snow for some 2,500 to 30,000 elevation hill top areas here right in the bay area.

in san francisco, 46 degrees. wind speeds about 3 miles per hour. and this is a live look outside at what it looks like out there. we have those cloudy conditions. current temperatures in the 30s. we have some low 40s. santa rosa, 36. san francisco, 43. it's not as cold as some of those 20s that we've seen, but it's going to get colder tonight. satellite radar right now, you can see it's active. but we don't have a lot of heavy rain. we saw some of that heavier rain move in last night. we have a cold front that will drop in, picking that rain back up tonight and dropping our temperatures down with the colder storm. stormranger right now, a couple of scattered showers pushing in through south san francisco. you can see some pockets of rain in there. san mateo, half moon bay and portions of the santa cruz mountains and morgan hill. your hour-by-hour outlook. i want to get a chance of seeing scattered on and off again showers. at about 2:00, a round of heavier rain move from north

down to the south. starting up in the north bay, by 5:00 we'll see some of those heavier pockets start to move further down south. past the golden gate bridge. half moon bay will get some heavy pockets of rain. around 6:00, 7 whi:00, san jose morgan hill will see some heavier rain. if you see here, the pink, the blues, the whites, around 2:00 a.m., that's wintry mix. that could mean some more snow. we're actually starting to notice more in our models as far as elevation goes. 2,500, 3,000 feet could see a good dusting of snow overnight tonight into tomorrow morning. if you notice we taper off a little bit by sunday morning. then it picks back up again tomorrow by 5:00, 6:00. we begin to see more widespread rain with the arrival of another cold front. once again bringing a wintry mix. over here, this is where the sierra is. that's what we're dealing with. dangerous conditions. they do still have some winter storm warnings in effect.

look how much snow they're expected to get through monday. not a good time to travel up there. that window again very important in terms of your travel. let's talk about some snow estimates tonight into sunday night. we're expecting to see anywhere from 20 inches es to 34 inches. that's through sunday. if we fast forward through sunday night and the arrival of that second cold front, those numbers will go up. that could mean wind gusts up to 100 miles per hour. not ideal driving conditions. over the next seven days, we're talking about 50s for san francisco. low snow, 3,000 feet expected through tomorrow. we'll catch a break on monday. then tuesday we'll get on and off again rain chances. but into wednesday we're tracking an atmospheric river event south of us that could bring widespread rain again to the bay area. kira, back to you.

to call 911. to students taking a stand for their teachers. teens from the oakland tech campus traded the classroom for the streets to prove a point. our nbc bay area sky ranger flew out their sickout march yesterday morning. the students held signs as they marched down broad kay to city hall. the school's principle warned them that anyone who left class for the march would be given an unexcused absence. it didn't stop these students. oakland teachers voted to go on strike this week but have not yet set a strike date. they're demanding a 12% pay raise. the district responses it can't afford more than a 5% pay hike. now to a mystery near candlestick point involving an abandoned sail boat. the chp tweeted this picture yesterday.

a driver reported the sail boat along the shore just south of candlestick. officers checked it out, they didn't find anyone on board. the boat started to drift out to the bay again. the coast guard was notified. his last week on the job and he's going out with a bang. acting attorney general matthew whitaker grilled on capitol hill during a congressional hearing. it was fiery and democrats want to know if the acting ag and trump allil ally told the presi anything about the investigation. >> do you swear or affirm under penalty -- >> reporter: flexing their muscles as the new majority, democrats questioned acting attorney general matt whitaker about his role overseeing the mueller vision on russia election interference and his interactions about it with president trump. whitaker not afraid to flex right back. >> you have ever been asked to approve any requests or action taken by the special council? >> mr. chairman, i see your five

so muich., as trampoline parks soar in po they're fun and kids love them, but parents and doctors not so much. as trampoline parks soar in popularity so do the number of people getting injured. investigative reporter liz wagner dug through ambulance calls to local trampoline parks and found the injuries can be pretty serious. >> we found at least 73 911 call to a dozen bay area parks in the last two years. the trampoline industry says injury rates are on par with or lower than other youth sports but many parents are now warning these facilities aren't as safe as you might think. you may be surprised to learn there's little oversight when it comes to safety. >> 8-year-old female with a knee

injury. >> reporter: listen to these 911 calls. >> a little boy was jumping. his arm is dislocated or broken. he can't move at all. >> to local trampoline parks. >> we rolled him over and he was not able to talk or move or anything. >> reporter: this dispatcher weighs in with a personal observation. >> i don't think it is a great idea to put all the trampolines in one area but that's just me. >> reporter: donovan was having a blast at rockin jump in dublin in 2015, until his mom says a bigger kid bounced him into the air. >> it flew and it hit the ground on my left knee. >> reporter: he broke his leg. >> i couldn't work. i had to use my wheelchair to go everywhere. >> a lot of pain. >> reporter: jennifer said it took her son a year of rehab to get pack to normal. when you took your son to this trampoline park, did you have any idea you would be taking him out with a broken leg? >> no way. i did not expect my 5-year-old son, still many preschool, simply jumping, that he could get so seriously injured. i had no idea.

>> reporter: in your opinion, are trampoline parks dangerous? >> well, this one is. >> reporter: we checked ambulance logs for bay area counties and found 20 calls to seven rockin jump locations last year alone. they involved injuries to the head and snapped legs and ankles. a 2016 study by dr. steven rogers of pediatric emergency physician found an alarming rise in trampoline park injuries. >> you're jumping higher than you normally would and you're landing on an uneven surface. it's already a lie-risk activity. >> reporter: his research showed a near 1,100% spike in er visits from 2010 to 2014. the sharp jump makes essential when you consider the skyrocketing popularity of trampolines, but rogers found compared to home trampolines, trampoline parks are producing more serious injuries. >> i think the parks are super fun for kids. i think we can do a better job of making them safer. >> reporter: part of the

problem, some experts say, is that the trampolines are interconnected. take a look at this surveillance video provided by an attorney recommending injured jumpers. he said this woman hurt her leg bouncing from one trampoline to another. and this young girl fractured her ankle when she landed on a harder area near edge. rockin jump like most parks says trampolines pose risks, and they ask people to sign liability waivers. this injury lawyer believes these releases can encourage companies to cut corners. >> they're not as careful as they would be if they didn't have a release which means you have to be careful as a parent. >> if you're a larger person -- >> reporter: rockin jump's safety video outlines the rules like do not jump near smaller people. remember, that's how donavan's mom said he got hurt. but our cameras saw big kids jumping by younger ones again and again. and floor monitors fail and listen to what this employee told us. ing to stop it. >> i don't see anybody watching

the video. >> you don't see anybody watch the video? >> not that i -- i'm not sure if it's required or not. >> rockin jump declined to talk to us on camera but said, since its inception, safety has been the number one focus both for our guests and our staff. the company also says it will be addressing the concerns we exposed and pointed us to its website which states rockin jump regularly maintains its equipment. now, 8 years old, donavan is back on his feet. his mom said she would never take him back to a trampoline park. he'd jump at the chance to do it again. you would? why do you say that? >> because it was fun. >> trampoline parks are unregulated in much of the country. legislation in california failed a few years back. next year, the industry's trade association, will require members to pass third party safety inspections. for now members are encouraged to follow trampoline guidelines

sometimes get a bad rap for being hyper. you say she's a favorite at the shelter. >> yes. >> any home would be good for her? >> i think any home, yeah. she would do well with kids. as long as they're respectful with her. any home. >> doesn't necessarily need a family that can take her and run her around. >> she's yawning. >> yeah. she's bored already with me. all right. then you have some exciting news. you have a spring camp coming up, april 1st to april 4th. >> right. >> that's great for parents who have kids on spring break, they're like what do i do with you? >> they do a lot at the camp. they'll work with the behaviorist. they clicker train. they socialize with animals. they do arts and crafts for enrichment toys. it's a five-hour four day a week camp. it's a lot of fun. >> initially, you know, as a new parent looking at the price, $300 ain't nothing. but five hours a day for four days. >> exactly. they get a t-shirt. we supply all of the craft
