even where it's not raining very heavily, those winds are still picking up and may cause some more problems. so as you get ready to head out this morning, we are seeing some widespread rain especially for the north bay, but it has taken a break around ukiah, but everywhere else, it is raining, and in some spots, it is really coming down. where we see the bright red shows the most intense rain and as we get a look at what's happening between let's say around highway 4 between concord and moving over toward before you get to the i-80 connector, we are seeing rainfall rates at about 0.3 of an inch of rain per hour, and then for the south bay, it's a lot lighter, where we haven't seen as much of that widespread heavy rain, but it is really starting to pick up around fremont. so as we go throughout the day, still some waves of heavy rain through the morning commute, and then we should take a bit of a break in terms of some of the heaviest downpours coming through, and it still will be a steady, light rain coming through in waves. so i'll be tracking this and how much rain we're expecting, more

on that in a few minutes. mike, getting us out there on the roads it looks sloppy. >> this is what i was worried about, kari, because of the conditions it's tough. there was a crash. folks are going faster than you might like for those conditions because they're able to. lighter traffic around much of the bay but not by the kocolise. crash north of high street and another at the high street off-ramp that is a problem compounding one with the other and the conditions, that's going to be a tough drive coming up out of san leandro and toward the bay bridge. you notice the blue, where puddling and ponding showing up in the north bay, in the east bay, contra costa county, alameda county, in san francisco watch the off-ramps getting off of the bay bridge. anywhere south of the san mateo bridge much calmer. that's about the time we'll see the commute over the next hour so we're tracking that as well, i'm tracking more details. two lanes are currently blocked for 808 north past the coliseum. the rain coming down steady all morning long here, for hours now in the north bay and also
6:02 am
going to see some of the high rain totals after that storm. >> "today in the bay's" pete suratos joins us live from san ansel anselmo. you first came on air at about 4:00 this morning. has the weather changed? looks like it's still coming down. >> reporter: yes, good morning to you. you know what? the weather as we're still seeing that steady downpour right here in san anselmo, a little bit lighter when we came on at 4:00 a.m. but you're seeing the rain come down. the sandbags setup this is what you'll see because the area is prone to flooding, obviously not historic flooding, we haven't seen those numbers in quite some time. i want to show you video of the drive to san anselmo from mill valley on the 101 north, you see the rain coming down as we head through corte madera, still the situation as you're driving in some parts of the north bay. when it comes to san anselmo, ross valley fire increased staffing.
6:03 am
they have a swift water rescue team on standpoint if they need it. the big concerns are flooding and the wind that can accompany the rain as well as possible power outages why locals tell us they're not taking any chances. >> on some of the windows we put plastic wrap in front of the plywood or behind it and we used a staple gun. >> it's been raining all season right now so we cleared the gutters and everything seems to be draining pretty good. >> hope the power doesn't go out. >> right. >> the little one will have, you know, without youtube. >> reporter: taking a look at the rain coming down here in san anselmo. i'm keeping an eye on the san anselmo creek. it's at about four and a half feet, under the warning stages. i'll bring you another update at the end of the show. live in downtown san anselmo, pete suratos for "today in the bay." >> try to stay dry, pete.
6:04 am
thanks. >> we talked about all the rain we're seeing weeks prior and coming days. >> we're watching all of our creek levels around the bay area and river levels as well but there are two that i'm really concerned about, because the russian river and guerneville will reach the flood stage, if we get the anticipated rainfall at 7:00 on friday morning so that may flood some of the resorts in the area and as we look at the napa river downtown napa, that will peak for tomorrow afternoon and close to the flood stage. those are the areas that may be impacted especially as this heavy rain comes through. we'll talk about the time line of the heaviest rain coming up in a few minutes. >> thanks so much, kari. the storm already leaving an impact in sonoma county as well. new video, look at the downed free near coleman valley road about midnight. it was near the bohemian highly in occidental. the road was cleared in 90 minutes.
6:05 am
look at the crews that had to deal with that tree. more than 200 pg&e customers lost power. if you want to look, look at this, the current outage map, you can see so far, there are no serious impacts, this is pga's outage map but the high winds in the forecast is something of concern, why crews are standing by to make sure everyone is safe and they have the power restored quickly if they can. we want to take you life to sfo, where united airlines is getting ahead of the storm. the company issued a travel waiver for flights in and out of sfo today and tomorrow. it actually means you can change your flight at no extra charge. according to flight aware, about 65 flights at sfo are canceled today, about ten are delayed. you're encouraged to check, of course, with your airline before you head to the airport. a man convicted in a vallejo kid yapping that made national headlines goes back to court this morning. we shot this video after matthew mueller pleaded guilty to

federal charges for the 2015 kidnapping of denise haskins, she drugged haskins' boyfriend, now her husband. mueller is serving 40 years for the federal charges but now he wants to act as his own attorney to fight similar charges against him in solano county. it is possible the couple will have to take the stand as part of a cross-examination in this case. vallejo police initially dismissed the whole thing as a hoax. but they were wrong. the city eventually agreed to a $2.5 million settlement. >> 6:06 right now. the name dixie is officially dead when it comes to the name of a north bay school district. it's a story we've been following in detail on "today in the bay." people who live in northern san rafael have argued the dixie school district name is offensive. late last night, all five board members agreed, voting unanimously to change the name. as our pete suratos explained yesterday, about a dozen new names will be considered. right now as we come up on 6:07, before you head out the

door, make sure you have the rain gear, one of the windy days, where your umbrella may get flipped inside out. we need all of the rain gear today as the heavy rain continues especially over the north bay and also for the parts of the peninsula, and san francisco. looking at some widespread rain, rolling across the region and some higher snow levels in the sierra, compared to what we've seen recently, you have to go up about 5,000 feet before you see it change over to snow. here we look at waves of heavy rain. here we are at 7:30, seeing some of the most intense rain moving through the tri-valley and also still continuing in the north bay. but it may become wider but still pretty much covering all the bay area throughout the late morning hours into early afternoon, pockets of some heavy rain possible, and this will continue not only today, but tomorrow as well, and then gradually taper off on friday. so this will last quite a while, as we add up on more of that rainfall totals. i'll have more on that. mike, you're tracking
6:08 am
crashes and sliding. >> right when more rain comes down and more cars hit the roadway. this is oakland. look how jammed it is in the last five, seven minutes. northbound 808 jammed past high street and seventh where there's another crash on the southbound side. the camera shakes right there because of the wind. wet conditions. we show the radar here, all around the upper east shore freeway. the traffic flow pretty smoothly despite the conditions. higher speeds and slippery conditions, so please, slow it down despite the urge to go a little bit more quickly because of the clearer roadways in some patches. they're still slick all over. the south bay is seeing more traffic but 101 doesn't look bad on the wide shot. north 101 at marsh just north of the willow overcrossing here there is a new crash blocking two lanes here. this is now a problem on the peninsula north 808 and north 101 through oakland and palo alto respectively, those are your problems right now. guys, back to you. >> thanks so much, mike. next and new for you this hour, michelle obama sharing

areas it's just windy with some light showers. let's zoom in to fremont right now as we get ready to head out around there, still some pockets of some very heavy rain there as well. looking at 880 and the wind just flapping that flag there, as we go throughout the day. still some waves of heavy rain moving through and some gusty winds. i'll have more on this, what you can expect, as we add up more of these rainfall totals, that's coming up in less than five minutes. >> kari, i'd take that section of 880. over here through oakland, it is jammed northbound. you see the flashing lights approaching the crash. folks trying to avoid that and get across the bay, using the san mateo bridge that's jamming up and we'll show you what's waiting for some of them on the peninsula. good morning and very happy wednesday to you. there's a lot for the markets to like this morning. it looks like there's a deal in washington and the president said he may delay tariffs against china. apple and google are under pressure to get rid of an app in their app stores called absure

6:14 am
mean you didn't get a tax cut, but it does have people understandably confused. senator kamala harris seems to echo that confusion. she tweeted "the average tax refund is down about $170 compared to last year. let's call the president's tax cut what it is, a middle class tax hike." this is demonstrably false. while it's not uncommon for people to be confused it's strange for a sitting united states senator to not get this. the government takes money out of your paycheck every week. this week you took less. you overpaid your taxes and getting a smaller check back is really nrelated. those things aren't really related. >> okay, running for president though as well. all right, thanks. sometimes your mom can be the toughest crowd. we've had an experience. you saw her at the grammys there. her mom texted and said i heard you were at the grammys.

she was like mom, i told you. she was like no, my friend told me you were there, that's howe i saw it. then mrs. robinson, michelle obama's mom, hey, did you meet any real stars out there? she goes back and says, mom, i am a real star, by the way. a friendly exchange between mother and daughter there. i tell my mom stuff all the time and she's like, you didn't tell me that. i'm like, but i did. >> and you know what, it's your mom's job to put you in your place, too. >> when i go home, i still take out the trash. >> i text my mom, michelle obama was at the grammys. she's like you told me she was at the grammys. >> no. >> not the same? >> always respect your mother. no one will love you like your mother. >> be humbled by your mother, too. like you are not a real star. >> not at all. >> exactly. >> as we start out this morning, we'll see waves of heavy rain moving through the bare area but it's off and on and this is a strong storm that really has a
6:16 am
sight set on the north bay targeting the heaviest rainfall in those areas, and elsewhere, we've seen some of the rainfall rates coming down, a little bit lighter than what we're seeing south of the healdsburg area, three-quarters of an inch this hour. if it rained for a whole hour they'd get about 0.75 of an inch and heavy in parts of contra costa county, but look at the rainfall rate at about 0.1 inch rain per hour and about the same in the south bay as we look at how heavy that rain is still falling in parts of the south bay, but it's been a lot lighter there. and then we are still looking at some intense waves of rain coming through in time for the morning commute, more people getting up and out on the roads. we may also have some water standing on the roadways. but it does get lighter as we go into late morning and early afternoon, but you can still see that it will be raining. and we'll see this all throughout the day, some pockets of some heavy rain passing by,
6:17 am
but as we see the brunt of the storm, we're really in with it right now, and then as we go into this evening, it looks a little bit better in time for the evening commute for most areas. north bay it is still pouring up there, and that's the reason why we're expecting some of the highest rainfall totals to be in the north bay, and still some waves of rain coming through tomorrow, here we are at 9:30, it's still raining off and on. 1:00, 4:00, 5:00, still some rain chances. it won't get out of here until about late on friday, so during this time, colder air will be moving in, and this rain will feel quite chilly out there. as we look at how much rain we're expecting, the potential of getting anywhere from one to possibly over three inches, but it all depends on where you are, because the tri-valley, fremont may not see that much in terms of rain. all of this has to flow somewhere, and we're watching reservoir levels, for more on that, let's head over to vianey arana, out live in morgan hill. uvas creek, how is it looking there? >> reporter: you know, the rain
6:18 am
hasn't stopped, and i do want to show you the uvas creek because we're standing on a little bridge that has the creek flowing underneath it. he's gone panning to the creek now. you can see the water rushing through there. the uvas dam all of the water that comes rushing out of there flows into this creek and to give you an idea of the reservoir's capacity, according to valley water.org, the surface area is 288 acres, so it gives you a good idea of how much rain that we've had, we've had storm after storm after storm and i know we're tracking even more rain through tonight so if we could pop up om video this is from last night. we had crews monitoring as you know this creek runs through people's neighborhoods, there's homes right on the left and right of this, we were driving around nearby, there's a camp site nearby and that brings worry. the uvas reservoir is at 101% of
6:19 am
capacity. the lexington reservoir is at 75%, vasona 85% and monitoring two more inches of rainfall to fall here at least through tomorrow so that will bump up the water rushing but at least for now seems like we'll be okay in terms of this leveling off over the water. we'll keep a close eye. kari, back to you. >> thank you for monitoring that for us. we'll see rain continuing. another concern are the high winds throughout today and the winds calm down tomorrow. colder air moving in by the end of the week. saturday maybe a break in showers but it will be chilly and another chance of rain in the forecast sunday. san francisco looking at lower 50s after today. mike, you're seeing some tough travel conditions in two spots. >> palo alto and oakland. there may be the ripple effect we talk about. stick by here. looking at the conditions, very wet and crowded, northbound 101

nbc area responds to a san jose man who had a stormy experience with a solar company. >> he was out of a thousand bucks and charged up about that. so kour cour consumer investiga chris chmura and his team got involved to help. >> good morning. will tobada told us he was looking at one of the new-age solar systems where the panels are neatly integrated into your roof shingles. he put down a $1,000 deposit. he later changed his mind, and he asked for a refund. state law is pretty strict about how much money contractors get up front. it is 10% of the cost of the job or $1,000, whichever is less. yet the law doesn't require deposits be refundable. on the surface, it looks like will is out of luck. however, this particular solar company's website gave us hope. in the frequently asked questions section, it said, "will my deposit be refundable? answer, yes, all deposits are eligible for a refund."
6:26 am
will says he was told exactly that, but for weeks, the company didn't respond to his request, so our team called the contractor,, and within five days it agreed to give will his $1,000 back. it said a family emergency caused the delay. you have a complaint about a contractor? let us know, 888-996-tips or online at nbcbayarea.com/responds. >> thanks, chris. 6:26 right now. in our team weather cor average continues next on "today in the bay." we have the forecast and the latest information, it's more detailed than you'll get on your phone on that free nbc bay area app, so how long before that rain moves out? we'll tell you, coming up. mooike tracking the wet roa. don't leave for work before you see his report. a lot of rain falling across the bay area. we'll tell you about the trouble spots. and for people who live near creeks, there's concern about flooding. we are live in the south bay, where folks are hoping to avoid a repeat of 2017. what they're saying this morning. you're watching "today in the

6:31 am
bay area and we'll see this once again throughout the day with still some scattered showers moving through. headed over to mike you're tracking a couple of problem spots on the roads. >> two key spots one on the peninsula and one in the east bay. here we're showing oakland, the east bay crash is just north of the coliseum, just north of high street. you see that traffic stacked up, those red lights, tail lights headed north past high street. a couple flashing lights as well as on the off-ramp. the rain and the wind hitting the area, kari showed that to you and on our maps that shows up as blue for puddling and ponding throughout the north bay across highway 37, although the roadway is still open, sometimes we see flooding and we're looking over here toward the crossing over at the carquinez bridge and benicia bridges and the building through contra costa county kicking in. the bay bridge toll plaza metering lights hole stowedy. the big problem is north past the coliseum. south of the san mateo bridge calmer and the issue northbound 101 jamming up toward marsh. it's jammed from university all the way past willow, all the way

to marsh, just one lane blocked but this big problem slick roadways again, 280 is an option. this storm triggering a rock slide in north santa rosa. this is video from that scene, a large amount of rocks as you can see still up to the fog line there at mark west springs road. down to the east bay, we have been watching the rain and the winds right there this morning. >> that's right, bob redell joins us live in walnut creek. how are you looking out there, bob? you know what? we're having trouble hearing him obviously. we can see him. we know it's a rainy day out there in the east bay. we'll check back with bob in a little bit. right now we go to the south bay, where we're tracking the flood levels there at coyote creek. looks like we have bob's microphone there now, bob, can you hear us? all right, well -- >> let's move on to the south bay. we just got reports of 1800
6:33 am
power outages in the campbell area this morning. so the storm certainly having an effect there and you know, there were flood concerns as well. >> back in 2017, coyote creek we noticed that flood concerns there. kris sanchez is live for us this morning out there, monitoring that area there and kris, what are things looking like this morning for you out there? >> reporter: we can hear that coyote creek, which is actually a river, rushing here behind us but only about half way to flood stage, so that is the good news. however, we know that the forecast is calling for anywhere between one to two feet with this latest round of rain, and the next one that's coming in, and already we know that it's been a problem. yesterday san jose fire had to rescue a man stuck on a little island in that creek. the man rescued him and then homeless advocates went into the creekbed where a lot of folks camp to warn them the water could rise quickly. this is one reason why, this is video we got just yesterday
6:34 am
around the noon hour of water roaring out of anderson reservoir. valley water is making room for incoming rain, and anderson feeds coyote creek. now, the readings are looking like this, right now, that blue line on your screen is a river level as of 5:30 this morning, so in the last hour, it was at five feet. anything above ten feet in the orange or red area there on your screen, that is considered flood stage. you might remember coyote creek flooded back in 2017. it was pretty catastrophic for this rock springs neighborhood, and at that moment, it was a perfect storm. it was a combination of really heavy rain, and also water releases from anderson reservoir, as we're seeing now, but there was also a levee breach so it will hopefully not repeat, although surely folks in the rock springs neighborhood are feeling nervous about that. but again, the forecast is that the river could rise one to two feet in the next couple rounds

of rain so we'll keep a watchful eye. kris sanchez, "today in the bay." >> kris, thank you. it's not just the bay area, that storm slamming the sierra. here is a live look there as you can see now, really hard to see out there. you can see that fresh snow blanketing the roads. placer county sheriff's department sharing this video. high winds over the donner summit, a lot of people there are planning to head to tahoe for upcoming presidents day weekend but look what you'll deal with. they need to be prepared for the dangerous driving conditions, as you can see so be mindful of that. >> hard to find an opportunity to go. all the rain is prenenting a permanent fix along the richmond-san rafael bridge. nearly a week ago chunks of falling concrete closed the bridge. crews put in a temporary fix but waiting for the storms to pass before they can put a permanent repair in place. that is expected to get under way on monday. when the work does start t will take place mostly overnight to try to minimize the traffic

impact. they say it may take ten nights to finish. we'll be monitoring that one. >> definitely but we see why we can't have those out there, because we're minding the roads, they're slick and jammed past the coliseum. bad news, we have the issue northbound 880 headed up past high street, the crash blocks the lane there, jamming up traffic past the coliseum. it hasn't gotten much worse as far as the number of incidents. almost 70 incidents, just over 70 incidents on the chp blotter. the blue shows you where the puddling and ponding is throughout the north bay and east bay. highway 4 seeing more traffic, so is the walnut creek interchange. bob is reporting live out there. the peninsula has the other incident. you see the south bay is not bad but getting from the south bay up along the peninsula northbound 101 is just jammed. >> wow. >> approaching university up toward willow, only one lane blocked. look how much impact. >> both directions. >> both directions are slow. >> a lot of people about now
6:37 am
probably looking forward to the weekend. but more rain in store? >> more rain, but it won't be as heavy, and i know with this being a long weekend, some people are like oh, i cannot wait. heavy rain is moving through parts of the bay area, kind of skipping around the south bay for the most part, but other than that, we do have some widespread rain. if you are making plans to go to the sierra, your opportunities to get there will be limited because as of right now we're seeing heavy rain. snow levels are still high, but will be dropping over the next couple of days as colder air moves in. looking at our saturday forecast, you will have chances to get outside and in between the scattered showers, but it will be a cool day, only reaching into the low 50s and then on sunday, also some slight rain chances with our highs only at about 50 degrees across the bay and inland areas. going up to lake shasta, we'll see a mix of rain and snow, highs in upper 30s. sunday is looking like a good travel day, maybe when you're coming back to the bay area.
6:38 am
if you are planning to go to heavenly, off and on snow but sunday we'll start to see the snow not as widespread and heavy, so also sunday may be the best travel day for getting to the sierra. and then looking at squaw valley also some snow coming down at times that will be heavy, low visibility, from now through saturday. high temperatures only reaching into the low to mid-20s there. we'll talk about what's going on today, another look at storm ranger radar coming up in about three minutes. >> thanks, kari. it is 6:38 right now. we are working headlines away from the weather. new closer at a look what led up to a massive gas line explosion in san francisco. what a city leader is calling for, overnight. plus we keep asking the white house, will he or won't he? will president trump sign the border agreement? we'll take a look at that. let's take you out to the big board this morning, dow industrials gaining 150 points as it looks like we're going to delay tariffs on the cli knehin. you're watching "today in the bay."
6:41 am
right now at 6:41, our microclimate weather alert continues with heavy rain moving through parts of the bay cair. most of us except for the south bay getting some really heavy rain. as we get a closer look some lighter showers coming through, having a travel impact as you get ready to step out the door. this is a live look over san jose and as we go over toward evergreen, gusty winds and today highs reaching the low 60s, actually warmer. we'll talk about what's ahead as the winds pick up and the rain continues to fall. it's coming up in less than five
6:42 am
minutes. >> you see it right here at the bay bridge toll plaza, but the weird thing is, looking a little bit lighter as we approach 6:41. the reason? the problem in oakland is one of the root causes and that may be sending more folks to the san mateo bridge. we'll check that out and there is the peninsula, a tough drive for a crash there as well. >> thanks, mike and kari. we've been on since 4:00 a.m. watching that rain come down across the bay area. the north bay is getting slammed by the storm. >> "today in the bay's" pete suratos joins us live in san anselmo, an area prone to flooding out there. how has it compared to earlier? still coming down, huh? >> reporter: yes, good morning to you, laura and marcus. the rain continues to come down. it is stronger in the past hour, coming down in downtown san anselmo. i want to show you how they prepared, the sandbags are here in front of some of the businesses, not a lot of businesses have them up right now but they are in place. you can see here down this road the rain keeps coming down, and

as a result, ross valley fire lin crease its staffing in the event of flooding. i spoke to a worker at a coffee shop down the street here to ask them how they're preparing for this rain taking police station right now. >> the only preparation is that we're not putting down any sandbags. we had the flood gates ready so if it starts to rise, we'll be there ready to go, but it's not, we don't have them set up or anything so we're going to wait. >> reporter: take you back out here live to see the rain coming down in san anselmo. we'll keep an eye on the creek, at about four and a half feet, well under the flood warning level. we'll continue to keep an eye on that and i'll provide updates on my social media accounts as the updates come in. live in san anselmo, pete suratos for "today in the bay." ? ta >> taking one for the team. eight really coming down out there, thanks, pete. f

new calls this morning for a full review of the gas explosion and fire in san francisco's richmond district that destroyed five buildings. the ntsb is already investigating, but supervisor katherine stephanie says she's calling for a full review at city hall. in the series of tweets, she says that she wants to look into the actions leading up to the explosion, and whether changes need to be made to safety standards and regulations. >> 6:44. a man accused in the random deadly stabbing at oakland's macarthur b.a.r.t. station may learn if the case will go to trial. mental health experts are evaluating john lee cowell. last july cowell stabbed 18-year-old nia wilson to death and then tried to kill her sister. if convicted, he may be eligible for the death penalty. will he or won't he? no one knows what the president will do about the border compromise. >> if he signs the bill, the government stays open.
6:45 am
>> a reminder the bipartisan congressional committee came one a solution that tries to do a little bit for everyone. the most important part about $1.3 billion for 55 miles of border fencing. mr. trump of course wanted more than $5 billion for a thousand miles of wall. this idea presented to him yesterday. is this acceptable to him? sarah huckabee sanders spoke to the press. here is the president yesterday. >> i'm not happy about it. it's not doing the trick, but i'm adding things to it and when you add whatever i have to add, it's all going to happen. >> the president later tweeted something more positive and conciliatory thanking republicans on the committee for their hard work. to be perfectly clear, there's nothing to sign yet. congress has to pass the bill first. we think the house may do that later this afternoon. the president has three options. he can sign the bill, he can not
6:46 am
sign the bill, but declare an emergency and take money from existing u.s. funds or do both, sign the bill, get fence money from that, still declare an emergency, and if you listen to a man very close to the president, that sounds exactly like what he's going to do. >> the president would need to declare a national emergency. this is the time, that is a necessity, and the president, i think i know him pretty well, telegraphed that very thing just today. you just heard him indicate a coming plan that he would find the other moneys on top of whatever congress gives him. >> sean hannity on fox news who often strongly hints what the president's going to do. three days to go, until the next government shutdown, including today in that count, because washington is working hard, trying to get this solved, before midnight friday. we'll be watching everything, waiting for some sort of sign from the white house as to which way this is going to go and whether the government's going to stay open. you can follow me on twitter, i'm @scottmcgrew. >> sounds good. thanks, scott.

6:46. >> take a look, another bear break-in, this time at a tahoe vista home. the homeowner says the cubs got through an unlocked window. one went for the fridge, the other checking out the bedroom. the homeowner remotely blasted a loud siren, driving the bears out of the home. >> wait, they can open windows like lift it up? >> apparently. >> they're getting smarter. >> they can open car doors. the bears are smart. >> still scared off by a remote siren, that's good. >> it's a good idea. >> a lot of people want to get to the sierra, to tahoe and it's going to be tough getting there because of all of the wet weather we have moving through. even just getting out to work this morning, here is a look at storm ranger, that's our mobile doppler radar. the red scan giving us the most detailed view of the live view of where exactly that rain is falling. let's head to the north bay, as we get a closer look at parts of sonoma and napa counties it's
6:48 am
raining very hard all over napa county but sonoma county, you are getting a bit of a break around santa rosa, but if you head down to petaluma, it is still pouring and we move over to toward parts of the east bay, where it is really coming down around concord, walnut creek, and we've seen some of the rainfall coming down at lighter rates, but still it's pretty steady for most areas, anywhere from san francisco down the peninsula to the east bay, lighter in the south bay, and once again, as i show you a wide view of what's happening, you can see the rain all across the central valley, and still some snow coming down in some of the higher elevations of the sierra. so we have to deal with these tough travel conditions, starting out this morning, that will improve slightly as we go throughout the day, but we are still expecting more rain. dublin 580, near the interchange, this is looking so sloppy. as we go through the 8:00 to 9:00 hour when more people are up and out on the roads and out the door, we are going to see some rain but we don't see as

much red here, showing that the rain will be lighter. there will still be pockets of heavy rain moving through especially in the north bay. later this morning, and into the afternoon, here is another wave that may be moving over the santa cruz mountains by 11:00 to 12:00. into the early afternoon hours, we are going to see this breaking up not as widespread and heavy so the evening commute may be a little bit better but still look at the heavy rain over the north bay, as we see the storm really focus on bringing some of the heaviest and highest rainfall totals over the north bay, even into tomorrow. here we are tomorrow morning, and it's still at times coming down, but a little bit more of the breaks in between, going into the afternoon, some scattered showers developing into tomorrow evening, still some rain, and this will not get out of here until friday, so we are in with the waves of rain coming through, as we track some of that rain that will continue. we do have a flash flood watch all over the bay area, creeks and streams may be rising and so
