approaches the bay area. we will see some spotty rain today, but overall, a cool start and we will have a slight chance of showers, we'll tk hav a few restrictions going on. >> i'm talking about the construction on the richmond to san rafael bridge. west580 very light traffic but you're down to one lane both decks. westbound here, we see folks pausing to pay because we only have a couple lanes open as well. that's the lane restrictions for westbound and eastbound 580 but you don't see any problems. traffic so light there. highway 37 continues with the closure there, atherton avenue. chp there, cal trans sorry in the district says the shooting f, they're shooting for noon to reopen. and the rest of morning, in san jose, this is our first look at one of several scenes overnight where burglars targeted

hit up a liquor store, all of the businesses are on the city's south side. one man was taken into custody at one of the scenes. a police dogr bob redell workin story, gathering new information. he'll join with us a live report in our next half hour. the california dmv admits that immigration and customs has access to information that could get some people deported. >> "today in the bay's" kris sanchez joins us live in san jose with what this is all about. kris? >> reporter: we're talking about those driver's licenses that were made possible by assembly bill ab60 which was passed years ago in an effort to get undocumented immigrants to get driver's licenses, so that they could be on the road legally and they could get insura a. passed in 2013 and stated not used "as evidence as

citizenship or status or criminal investigation, arrest or detention." our sister station nbc san diego talked with a man pulled over by depoation, and he s says he knows that i.c.e. had access to his driver's license information because that was the picture they showed him to identify him. so now a deputy director for the dmv explains the agency does not keep a separate database for a.b. 60 licenses and all the dmv's records can be accessed by outside agencies. some of those accesses require a court order. a spokesperson for i.c.e. told nbc san diego that i.c.e. cannot access the dmv's database directly but wouldn't explain how they accessed that information indirectly because they say it is "law enforcement sensitive." sevel california lawmakers are now asking the governor and the attorney general to look into

driving my car, with my ipad, with her purse, with our cash, and they're smoking weed and drinking at the same time. >> reporter: we're blurring their faces because they're minors. the couple told the police about the 18-minute video but investigators didn't watch it, just asked for a screen shot. fruts ra frustrated, they posted it on facebook. turns out one of the girls is a neighbor. >> one of the girl's mom reached out to me. she basically apologized for her daughter. >> reporter: the couple says if they can track down the girls in the video on social media, police should be able to find them, too. waiting for an update, this family is not feeling safe at home. >> i feel like myf security of my home has been taken away from me. you know, i'm afraid to go home to my house. >> reporter: jean elle, "today in the bay." >> police say this case is an active investigation. the victims say they don't want anything terrible to happen to the girls, but they do want them

to be held accountable for their actions. we now know the name of the 85-year-old woman killed in a deadly fire in san mateo. investigators say susanna tonga was killed early ed why morning when flames started inside her home. firefighters helped get six people out of the house but they went back in when she was unaccounted for. they found her and performed cpr, but she was pronounced tded at the scene. the cause is still under investigation. we're following an uptick in car burglaries in the east bay. fremont police arrested 11 burglary suspects in eight days. they say there have been more than 300 reported break-ins since the start of 2019. investigators say many took place in shopping center parking lots, fremont police say that they're stepping up patrols and working with property owners in an effort to bring the number of car burglaries down. 4:36 right now. the catholic church is responding to a crisis, after a growing number of priests are being accused of sexually abusing minors. last night, dozens of people

breezy winds and we're already starting to see more clouds, so as you make your way out the door, maybe headed to the fruitvale b.a.r.t. station t will be in the mid-40s, at least we're not talking about 30s here today, and then we go from 46 to 54 degrees by noon, as we start to see the sun peeking out. we will see a mix of sun and clouds today and might need the umbrella at some point today, but not all day. let's just say umbrella, not hat but also a coat will be needed for today. we are looking at our hour-by-hour outlook, trying to 9:00, and we do see some spotty showers moving into parts of the north bay, as she coast, maybe even make it into parts of the inland are rain, hit or miss into the afternoon and evening hours and starting to wind down tonight. a lot of our models are showing that we are going to pick up on very light amounts of rain, and not everyone will measure rain, and it could be anywhere, anywhere across the bay area, it does show that morgan hill could see the most amount of rain, up

to 0.2 of an inch of rain and you head to the north bay, whee hundredths of an inch. if you're going to the sierra today, scattered snow showers will be with us for the first part of the day and even some light snow that may continue into tomorrow, but overall, we're only looking at a couple of inches here, much more as we go into next week. this is actually going through next wednesday. a bigger storm will be here tuesday into wednesday and in the meantime we have this system moving in, another weak system moving in on sunday that could bring us some scattered rain, and then we'll be tracking mor san jose. >> i am, kari. the good news s when i first got mike, you're tracking a crash in the report, they were tng on th like a serious situation, but ground and it sounded really henry over at our desk sorted out things with chp, there's nobody out there, no major injuries, just a couple of lanes blocked by one single crash there, and there is a little slowing as you are passing northbound 280, around that

insiders tell us the lack of oversight means people aren't always getting what they expect. a man reached out to us about a sober home in san jose that he called a money-making scheme. peter myles is a homeless veteran who needed help quitting alcohol. he says he left the united states mission in san jose after a few months because he didn't agree with the group's requirement that residents go door to door six hours asking f donations. miles says he kept drinking while he was there, and as long as he went out tey lked the oth. is that what you thought you signed up for? >> no. i thought it was, you know, sober living environment. ricia orter: the group's says the claims are untrue. she said she gave miles multiple times to return to the home after he relapsed. the group relies solely on fund from donations and public agencies. >> we do drug deathing and breathalizing. >> reporter: how often? we don't have a scheduled thing but we do it at random.

4:56, new video showing the aftermath of a deadly crash on the interstate. this unfolded last night in otay mesa, outside san diego. border patrol agents say a man and a woman crossed the border and quickly got into an awaiting car. the car led agents on a chase that hit speeds of 100 miles per hour. the car struck a turning truck, the two men in front died. the woman is in critical condition. and new details on the effort to block the president's national emergency border wall new ration, the american civil lawsuit in san francisco, the c aclu argues there's no emergency to justify the president's actions. the suit accused the trump administration of violating

constitutional limits on presidential authority. the state of california is among 16 states now involved in a similar lawsuit. new this morning, l.a. county says it will not use pepper spray inside of juvenile detention centers anymore. the move by city council comes following an investigation by our affiliate which found its use spiked 154% in 2017, as compared to just two years earlier. the county's probation department was cited for similar violations years ago. the department is calling for officers to have better training to deal with juvenile inmates as violence inside the ri.t releas all records of police shootings and misconduct, transparency law took effect. police unions have gone to court to block the release of some records. the ruling won't take effect until march to give time for an appeal. last week a judge in contra costa county denied a request to
