>> right now very smooth. light traffic. out of the altamont we see a little slowing. not so bad, the crash 205, 580 moving up nicely. off the top of the screen out of the area, eastbound 80 around pittman, one crash on the shoulder. coming into the area, you're just fine across all the bridges, the bay bridge itself. yesterday we had more cash payers actually stacking up. right now things are pretty calm but we'll check it. closer to 5:00 we might see. >> thanks, mike. breaking news for you, just into our newsroom. bay area actor jussie smollett is now in police custody in chicago. he is due in court a bond hearing later this morning. investigators now say that the santa rosa native lied and is being charged with filing a false police report. this is a look at surveillance video of the two brothers who told police they were hired by smollett to attack him last

month. the fare's denied he made the whole thing up. more coming up for you at 5:00. happening today, teachers at a bay area's second biggest school district are on a strike. oakland teachers will be on the picket lines instead of the classroom. >> sergio reports on what happened today. >> reporter: the posters are made and the picket signs are ready to go. >> at 6:30 in the morning, everyone will be on the picket at all 86 or 87 of our 12% pay three years, they would like smaller class sizes and they are hoping more support staffe spec. according to the union, the district made a written offer today but they s the next talks are friday. some parents have already decided not to cross the picket lines. >> we mainly have been working on getting location for solidarity school. >> a dozen sites across the city

this all happened when a napa county deputy approached a car parked on henry road sunday night. the deputy asked to search that car. she ordered the suspect, javier hernandez morales to roll down his window and that's when he pulled a gun and fired. the officer then ran to the other side of the car and fired repeatedly killing him. her actions praised by those higher up. >> you saw how quickly that happened. you saw how close the shots were radio, broadcast clearly. she was able to stay on her feet. >> the suspect was a floelon wh investigators say used a gun stolen in fremont. the deputy was sworn in half a year ago. she's expected to remain on unpaid leave up to four weeks. a man accused of attacking another man. we have a picture they wantou t. it happened tuesday. the victim, member of a

conservative group called turning point said two men approached his table and got into a verbal fight. things got physical when the victim started recording it with his phone. the suspect ultimately punched the victim several times. he has injuries to his eye and nose. u.s. coast guard officer and white nationalist accused of plotting a domestic terror attack. officials say he was compiling a lengthy list of targets stockpiling targets in maryland. >> included speaker nancy pelosi and senator kamala harris. more on the active investigation now under way. >> reporter: for the past three years christopher hassan has worked at coast guard headquarters in washington, d.c. investigators grew concerned about his alleged combination of guns, hate and long-standing drug abuse. prosecutors say hassan is a slfr i h -- self-identified white nationalist and wanted to kill almost every person on earth. prosecutors say it's the proverbial tip of the iceberg.

the defendant is a domestic terrorist. court documents downtown reveal attack plans but fbi said hassan has been stockpiling weapons, 15 firearms and 1,000 rounds of ammunition. and amassed human growth hormones. agents claim he ordered it to improve his strength inspired by terrorist who killed 77 people in norway back in 2011. prosecutors say he made a spreadsheet politicians like ho speaker nancy pelosi, kamala harris, chuck schumer and media figures like msnbc's joe scarborough and cnn's chris cuomo. he searched on line for most liberal senators and where do most senators live in d.c. and are supreme court justices protected? >> i think we're lucky. it looked like a crescendo of events. if you look at the behavior from the court filings, he grew stockpiling, more focused on the

holland at cnbc global headquarters. here are today's top business headlines. wall street is set to open up slightly lower. there's continued optimism over progress in trade talks between the u.s. and china. yesterday stocks rose modestly with the nasdaq up for the eighth straight day and the dow up for the third straight session. on the watch list reports on unemployment, durable goods and existing home sales. johnson & johnson has received subpoenas from theand s.e.c. fo information related to the safety of its iconic baby powder and other products itself that contain talc. it stems from thousands of liability lawsuits which claim baby powder caused ovarian cancer and mesotheliommesotheli. because baby powder is one of the few products with the company's name on it, it plays an important role in shaping johnson & johnson's reputation.

also cooler in antioch as we dip down into the upper 30s the next couple of hours. we are going to get that sunshine making it feel a little nicer. it still will be cool as we see the temperatures reaching low- to mid-50s today. as you're getting dressed, you do need layers, maybe hat and boots and of course scarf, gloves,hatoeep you warm through morning. we've seen the cold front move through that brought active weather for parts of the bay area yester with spotty rain moving over parts of the tri-valley and also toward the san joaquin valley. as we look at what else is coming our way, we have a couple of days of some dry weather, then we'll be tracking this system moving in. as it does so, this one looks to bring in some very heavy rain early next week, but the focus of where that heavy rain will be will be shifting farther north. we will start to see clouds moving in ahead of that on saturday. it looks like farther to the

north, north bay around ukiah and eureka will be where this next storm will be targeted. we'll be right on the southern edge of that. monday into tuesday, if things don't change, we could see scattered showers into our area and the north bay getting heavier rain moving in. that's something we'll be watching going into the weekend, early next week. meantime we can enjoy the happening at the richmond san rafael bridge. >> kari, we're going to go out here, light traffic flow, no problems. couple of ntin the repair work e expansion joint, caused it to fall weeks ago. looking at a smooth drive. overnight down to one lane but everything cleared up before the 5:00 deadline. that's good stuff. easy there of traffic past that bridge and getting towards bay bridge.

cashi carcinas bay bridge. altamont pass, a steady flow of traffic. things ease up once you pass grant line road. pass san mateo an easy flow. yesterday wind advisories. this morning not so much as far as chp is concerned. they are saying it's just fine. on the rails, even though parity doesn't open until 5:00, we see. we typically see that. i didn't want to shout it out too much. as usual, as i said, for the next few years as they are doing that work on the tunnel overnight they will be starting at 5:00. thanks. sober homes are a growing industry in california. anyone can open a sober home in almost any neighborhood. >> they are supposed to provide a clean and sober living law enforcement for addicts. but no one is checking to actually see what's happening insi inside. >> reporter: good morning. this story came from the community. a man tipped us off about a

sober home in san jose that requires residents to go door to door for donations. a homeless veteran who needed help staying sober after quitting alcohol. they said the goal was to sober home. he kept drinking while he was there. as long as he went out to collect donations, they looked the other way. the administrator denies the claims and says she uses drug test toss make sure people are sober. she gave him multiple chances to return to the home after relapse but substance abuse is not allowed. the a bed and two meals a day for door knocking. there are 12,000 sober beds in california. the lack of oversight has allowed wild west of homes to open with varying standards and outcomes. 25 bills introduced in 1999 to regulate sober homes.
